Oh MalleyParticipantAnother point I would make. As far as Mario Kart goes, no one at our meeting had a copy of it. Therefore, we have no knowledge of what exactly is in the game. I don’t think any of us know anyone with a copy of the game for that matter.
We decided to bring Gears back since it still has a fairly large fan base AND with the release of Gears of War 2 around the corner, there’s renewed interest in the original anyways.
Wii Bowling and Mario Kart Wii are still going to be around. It’s not like we’ve banned them entirely. We’re going to have free play stations available and this time we’re going to monitor so four people don’t hog a console all LAN playing the same game.

Potential Free Play games were suggested:-Pain

-Castle Crashers
-Tekken 5
–Wii Bowling

They’re going to be there. Just not as tournaments.
Oh MalleyParticipantEr.. I decided to pay the extra $40 bucks at NewEgg for a recertified one.
Oh MalleyParticipantHighly tempted to buy the Touch. Rawr. Must decide soon.
Oh MalleyParticipantI held my meetings there before with no problem. And again, it wouldn’t hurt to talk to the Cat’s Den to see what they have to offer. We’re going off what’s been done before. And again, a problem with this club is that we’re getting into a bad habit of just doing what’s worked before and not trying anything new.
There’s a reason why there’s been an explosion of growth in the console crowd.
Oh MalleyParticipantI think the Cat’s Den is a better fit as well being that the Cat’s Den would be a perfect place for a console mini-LAN imo.
Oh MalleyParticipantI know we’ve run as many as 7 tournaments on the console side before, it’s just that sometimes things overrun or people don’t show up or people want to play in a tournament last second sort of deal. I think if we’re a little more stern on when we start and when we finish and tell people tough luck if they didn’t get in, we’d be able to squeeze in more.
Oh MalleyParticipantEh, honestly, I’d like to get some 2v2s on Gears or Halo running just for competition sake. Or if we had enough consoles/TVs/copies R6V2. But it’s good that we’ve got something consistent running.
Oh MalleyParticipantThat’s fine. IMO, Xbox 360 on a project is bad. Period. Like I said, you and Shingi should probably decide what you guys want to do exactly for each individual Saturday event so we know what to bring and who’s bringing it.
Oh MalleyParticipantWell, Brenton didn’t let me know that he needed my console and TV until that day. That was my point, Kaz-Ka.
Oh MalleyParticipant

I had issues getting a yellow/gold I liked. But I think the last two are better.
Oh MalleyParticipantI’ll probably keep the back the way it is.. maybe alter it slightly. The more you plaster onto it, the more it costs. o.o
Oh MalleyParticipantSo you want them on a white t-shirt?
Also, general question, is the wcugaming.org okay on the back as long as there is plenty of open space for sponsors as well on the back?
Oh MalleyParticipantJust being honest. I invested a lot of my time into the t-shirt idea. And I heard positive comments about a lot of them. And then we were going to vote on the top 5 or whatever and then nothing happened.
If you want to go dig through what’s already been submitted before check this thread.
If you want something I’ve done reworked (most likely for the front only design), let me know.
Oh MalleyParticipantYeah.. Give me more of a heads up. I had already made plans. I suggest if you’re doing to go ahead and plan for next week, start talking to people about equipment now and figure out what games and consoles you want.
Oh MalleyParticipantMeh.. I gave up after I came up with like 30 shirt designs and nothing came of it. I’m not wasting any more of my time.
Oh MalleyParticipantI agree with Shingi’s point earlier that if you want PS3’s to really gain some further interest too is by having the free play open to everyone. I’ve noticed before as well that only a select few people were actually playing the PS3. Also, it seems like there was only one game being played on it each time. One LAN it was Resistance, another was the Eye of Judgment, and another had Pain running. I believe the reason that 360 and Wii has a higher popularity is that there are more games being played on it throughout the entire LANs duration. Also the types of games vary quite a bit too. So bring in as many PS3’s and TV’s as you can, set up a station for SCIV, one for Resistance, one for Pain, and maybe swap those games out for others during the course of the LAN. If you can showcase the diversity of the PS3’s library, you’ll get the attention of more gamers than if you played one fun game for 8 hours straight. And again, another good way for this to happen is the mini-LANs were going to hold, be it in the Cat’s Den or Central or where ever we can whenever we can.
Oh MalleyParticipantIRC – Internet Relay Chat. There’s a link on the main page that’ll help you access the club’s IRC channel. Also, look up the How-To thread on X-Chat here. It’s a program designed specifically for joining IRC servers instead of having to use java applets in web browsers. Confused? Well… just click on the IRC link at the top of the main page and forget everything about X-Chat.
Oh MalleyParticipantAgreed. If we had the staff and commitment, we could run more tournaments but then there would be complaints about missing out on certain tournaments and etc. No matter what we do, we have to make sacrifices somewhere. We won’t please everybody. I think the PS3 should help push in whatever small events we do outside the major LANs. Gain support that way and get the guys that come to visit the forums and go to the meetings, then we can surely get a PS3 game in the big LANs.
On a side note, I do believe that the club tendency is to stick what always works. However, sometimes what worked before doesn’t work for a large, dynamic crowd, which we are indeed becoming. We need to take some action to help boost PC awareness on campus as well as experiment with new ideas regarding the LANs (location, format, etc.) and establishing more of a presence out on campus and on-line.
To Bitey and DeviantSyntax: I know at least Shingi and I would talk to you two and any other exec’s that would be interested regarding some ideas and concerns we have. I don’t know if Shingi has shared them with Kaz-Ka. I think the best method would be IRC, so let me know whenever you guys get your internets up and running again and we’ll figure out a time.
Oh MalleyParticipantNope.
Halo 3 (Xbox 360)
Gears of War (Xbox 360)
Call of Duty 4 (Xbox 360)
Super Smash Brothers Brawl (Wii)
Mario Kart Wii (Wii).
PS3’s are welcome for free play of course.
Oh MalleyParticipantMore important concerns are TVs and copies of games.
Oh MalleyParticipant1 – LCD TV
1 – Xbox 360
2 – 360 Controllers ( 1 Wired – 1 Wireless )
1 – Halo 3
1 – Gears of War
—
Optional free play stuff.
1 – Guitar Hero 3
2 – Wireless Guitar Controllers (and 1 Recharge Pack)
(Insert Various Other Games That I Have Here)
Oh MalleyParticipantWe’re doing the top 5 console games. So I think there’s a tie for that fifth spot. I’m sure Shingi and Kaz-Ka will make some sort of official announcement soon.
Oh yeah.. don’t forget Bitey’s Madden-esque comment. “It’s the people going in that fills up the room.”
Oh MalleyParticipantWe’re making the effort.
On a side note:
Registered for GH3.
Oh MalleyParticipantI’m not even going to bother trying this again. If you want to find some of my previous t-shirt ideas, go search the other thread.
Oh MalleyParticipantI doubt they use such rule settings.
Oh MalleyParticipantThor you n00b. If you want to get on our Halo and CoD4 squads, I recommend you join up with us. That and start playing with us again.
Oh MalleyParticipantI don’t know dude. You have a tendency to disappear.
And not in the ninja-fashion.
Oh MalleyParticipantThere should be plenty of room if you have the equipment. The equipment is the hard part.
