Oh MalleyParticipantMeh, you’ll have only the dedicated people show up. Which is not necessarily a bad thing.
Oh MalleyParticipantI’ll be there as usual. Hopefully with a few other members of the tF gang.

Oh MalleyParticipantOh God no. Not that thing. Pleh! Give yourself eye cancer.
I say a 360 is a good investment assuming you like a multiplayer experience due to the Xbox Live community it has, as well as the controller style for FPS’s. I think off-centered joysticks are definitely better for playing them. If you’re a big movie buff and want high-def then go for the PS3. If you want the same console for 10 years and hope that Sony doesn’t end up going bankrupt or whatever else, then buy a PS3. Either one is going to be a quality investment, it’s just a matter of what you want.
Oh MalleyParticipantProbably. The new dashboard for 360 is supposed to rip the Sony Home concept though.
Oh MalleyParticipantMost of the people I know that have been talking about it are in a clan with me. They’re all excited. I personally am iffy about it. It’ll be a good game no doubt, but I don’t want it to become as frustrating or annoying as the first was.
Oh MalleyParticipantI think Heihachi was more appropriate. Link is a bit too much of the fantasy world.
Oh MalleyParticipantWell, I know that the Gamebattles ladder for UT3 on the 360 alone was up months before the game was released. Also, with the release on the 360, a large portion of the MLG competitive community was pushing for UT3 to be added to the circuit line-up, possibly to replace Gears of War until its sequel comes out.

most people i talk to about the club think its a small 10-15 member nerd camp. we really should display whats going on and how pop this club is.Shirts would help out a lot. But we know how well that ideas gone in the past. But I agree, get a comp running a slide show of the pictures from past LANs, maybe get some small handouts notifying people of our servers. For console players, either get a TV with some GH running on it.. or a similar handout with a list of gamertags, the big games on campus, advertising a WCU Console Facebook group, or something. Whatever idea you think will work.

Yep run or volunteer, Console P and VP are allowed to appoint Council Leaders to help them run tournaments at the LANs.Also I do hate that there is a sort of separation between PC gamers and Console gamers, what we all need to remember is we all definitely have at least one thing in common.
We all love to play games. We are practically brothers, now stop hating.
Yeah. I agree.
At the same time though, our console community is very much fragmented as compared to the PC crowd. When System Link actually worked, there was pretty much one universal large community of console gamers. With the V-LANs in place, it also separated the community because we simply couldn’t play with one another. The PC guys have their servers to meet each other. It’s by random chance that a console gamer meet up with another and even then it’s pretty much limited to clusters of gamers sectioned off by dorms.
And Mitch, for the record, the guys who attended the console meetings were the ones who put forth the effort at the LAN to make it that much better. We still had roughly 10-11 people and got some good dialog going for various ideas, game selection, the one mini-LAN we put together, and other stuff.
Oh MalleyParticipantI’d be nifty if there was some sort of gift or novelty item we could hand out instead of a flier.
Oh MalleyParticipantI’ve pushed fighting games and other games in the past, but it’s a matter of vote of who shows up to meetings when we decide the games. It’s also up to the console leadership if they want to have their own meetings to decide what will draw the best crowd as well as have sufficient equipment for.
Oh MalleyParticipantThank you. I connect just fine now.
Oh MalleyParticipantPrecisely. But just claiming that it’s not the meetings that make you a member. It’s participating in the community that counts. Going to the meetings let you play a greater impact since you actually get a say in how the club is run, how LANs are set up, and the like.
Oh MalleyParticipantAnd technically you don’t even have to really go to a meeting to join the club. We’ve got a lot of regulars that play on our PC servers that are considered club members and yet aren’t even at WCU.
So, welcome aboard. Feel free to send me a Live friend request – XBL GT: tF Audyo.
Oh MalleyParticipantHonestly, I doubt the console section would need the grandroom. The MP room would be fine. As far as dates go, I think if you distanced them a week apart would be optimal. However, I think this should be something decided on after we’ve had a meeting or so and shouldn’t change things for the 2008.3 LAN.
Oh MalleyParticipantAt MLG they have their own TVs that they bring in which conveniently have headphone jacks. Out of all the TVs I’ve seen us bring, not a single one had a headphone jack. And I don’t see any of us spending $100 for Turtle Beach’s headset and transmitter to make us use headsets/headphones.
If we can get enough staff and commitment from our console group, then we should be able to handle our LAN just fine. Yeah, have the president or secretary or whoever around to help supervise and make sure stuff gets done, but I think it’s less hassle on the executives. Most of the stress on the console side lies on the President and Vice President. At this past LAN, Shae and Cacophany definitely learned how much I had to deal with just organizing and running the tournaments when I was the council leader. So, now we have more people with experience and maybe get a few more to commit to certain tasks and duties, the console section should be able to run its own event no problem. Maybe need an executive or two to help with the legistics, handle money and attendance, and of course make sure pictures take place.
By the way, thank you Dice for the additional input and analyzing each scenario as well as bringing up some good questions.
Oh MalleyParticipantAgain, I think it’d be better that if we did outgrow the Grandroom, that we simply have the console tournaments on an entirely different date. The two groups have entirely different needs. Also, you gotta realize, at the console section, there are about a dozen TVs blasting gunfire non-stop. Whereas the PC section is mandated to have headsets for all their players. Of course the console section isn’t going to hear squat.
Oh MalleyParticipantDefinitely. Although, I believe at some point down the road, I believe the LAN will have to split into two rooms or even different days just because the consoles are picking up people pretty fast. Plus you’ve got Gears of War 2 coming out, so that will definitely attract some new blood for the 2008.4 LAN.
Oh MalleyParticipantBest to ask Kappa then since he’s working on it. Lol. Since I don’t have a Wii, I guess I’ll just resort to physical labor and watching my diet.
Oh MalleyParticipantI’m pretty sure there is some leg movement involved. However, I don’t think it’ll be anything too strenuous. It’ll probably have some basic aerobics and maybe like lunges or something to work on calves and thighs. It seems like it’s more geared to those who take the physical stress of working out in a gym.
Oh MalleyParticipantHopefully Soul Caliber 4 will make its presence known on the Wii and every other console for that matter.
Oh MalleyParticipantOf course he is. The artist from VGCats did 100 Kirby renditions if he absorbed people from different games and comics. There’s a spy in there too I think. But there are some awesome ones. I forget how long ago he did it. It was around the time Brawl was released.
Oh MalleyParticipantIt might. I’ve kinda ventured towards GG as my main fighting game of choice. But oh well.
Oh MalleyParticipantI wasn’t expecting to come back to Western in the fall.
Oh MalleyParticipantFor the record, either 480×120 or 500×120 is your standard signature size. I propose that the webmaster decides a maximum size limit for the entire signature. Images and text combined. All those who don’t comply will be a given a warning. If they don’t heed the warning, then remove the signature. And if it continues to be a problem, revoke their signature privileges.
Oh MalleyParticipantIt’s from In Flames album “Comes Clarity”.
Oh MalleyParticipantThey’re all held at Western. Just watch the main page and forums for the big announcements regarding the LAN meetings and dates and locations so you can get all the details.
Oh MalleyParticipantQuestion is, do we want to take the time to plan extra events? Cause I think we’ve all agreed that it’d be good for PC or Console only Not both.
Oh MalleyParticipantI was even there. Gasp.
