Oh MalleyParticipantA water cooler wouldn’t be a bad idea at all. Just as long as we have a way to refill it.. just in case. And assuming we can get our hands on one.
Freeplay and tournament areas in consoles would definitely need to be segregated a bit more. I think for the most part we just came in and set up at where was available.
Oh MalleyParticipantDuke Nukem 3D, Doom, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night – Must own classics.
Geometry Wars 2, Castle Crashers, Alien Hominid HD, N+ – Awesome new games I highly recommend.
Galaga Legions – Awesome remake of the classic arcade game.
Oh MalleyParticipantGamer handle would be easier since we have about a dozen or so Mikes that show up to every LAN.
Oh MalleyParticipantI know I’m trying to put together a mentoring program in place that would be head up by our tF guys. And since about a third of our membership are WCU students, we could probably easily due a few workshop sessions too during our normal Saturday events. I’d be up for helping people work on their Halo, Gears, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and any other game I can think of.
Oh MalleyParticipantI’m pretty sure once they have a confirmed date set, they’ll announce it. But as far as I know, most of us are still planning to do our little LANs over at Central every Saturday at 6pm.
Oh MalleyParticipantSure thing. Nothing wrong with finding more people to play with.

for the setup i jsut suggest taking 2 of those tables off the row where SC4 was bc between that and the projector there was a bit of congestion when trying to get out of the door.Or just moving the whole console section up a bit if possible.
Oh MalleyParticipantThe actual update hasn’t gone into place yet. YouTube some stuff on the new dashboard experience that was showcased on E3. There’s plenty of it out there. I did noticed that they did update Xbox.com and its features. Very noice imo.
Oh MalleyParticipant1) Try to avoid planning big tournaments together. lol. But that’s stuff we learn over time.
2) See about getting more equipment in (like TVs). Maybe local sponsors (like Nexus and E3) could help us out there.
3) Renting extra copies of tournament games from Movie Gallery. (Shingi’s idea. I like it.)
4) Not being afraid to try new ideas.

Oh MalleyParticipantMeh. Our console tournaments would probably dwarf there’s for sure if we had more equipment. Oh well.. any tF LAN teams we get are more likely to set foot over in Charlotte and the other slightly more urban areas across the state. Assuming gas still isn’t an issue by that point.
Oh MalleyParticipantLawl.. if you had logged onto your xbox at all in the weeks beforehand you would’ve noticed. But hey, it’s all to help prep for the new dashboard update which will be awesome.
Oh MalleyParticipantI got it. It ended up in Shingi’s hands and now I have everything hooked back up accordingly.
Bitey, just bring my headphones to the next general club meeting or whenever we meet up next, and I’ll get them from you then.
Oh MalleyParticipantI think this was the best turnout and event for consoles thus far. Power wasn’t an issue. Networking wasn’t an issue. The only drag was scheduling two tournaments that had pretty good turnouts at the same time (Soul Caliber IV and Gears of War).

Oh MalleyParticipantSweetness. Get to work Brenton.
lawl.
Oh MalleyParticipantI has them.
They’re awesome. I definitely like them better than the Rock Band original set. And not just because their wireless. I am kinda happy though that they’ve added cymbal expansion ports, so it looks like I won’t have to buy a second kit for GH:WT.
Oh MalleyParticipantYeah. It sucks getting those lists right before the LAN. o.o Anyway to go ahead and get the whole sign up sheet so we know who all is playing what console tournaments?

TWICE we have 2 console games running at once? Both those games have high waiting times so it is easy to do both at the same time. Also, most people probably won’t play in both.
Oh MalleyParticipantThere’s going to be so much tension at this LAN that you should stab a spork into it.
Oh MalleyParticipantIdea. We all stop *edited*ing and put it to the way it was before? Then go back and play our own little video games? kk??
Oh MalleyParticipantOnly if it’s going to end up just a flaming thread? Whatever. I’ve talked plenty with Bitey and Mouchet. I’m not going to sit here and argue senselessly. I know where they stand, and likewise they know where I stand. I’m putting my trust in their leadership capabilities and will support whatever action they take. /thread.
Oh MalleyParticipantWhatever. I think this thread should be closed. It’s going no where. This issue will never be “settled”.
Oh MalleyParticipantI do find it funny however, that there was ample warning that the game replacement would be discussed. It’s tentative topic number two listed for the console meeting announcement.
Oh MalleyParticipantI missed them. In the Dice/Adambomb era, there was very poor console organization. Kuros/gxti era – I laid the foundation for the console community.
Oh MalleyParticipantKip, I know that was already resolved. I made sure it was resolved well before this conversation ever got around. I actually talk to the executives. And generally, our core console guys do show up early as it is. So don’t worry about that. We’ll make room for us this LAN.
Oh MalleyParticipantHonestly, I need to see the room. If you guys want to go there and see about working on the layout together, then by all means, I’ll give you my cell number and try to be there. There are windows and whatever doors they have in the room to account for projector space. And of course, tables can be moved, cables can be extended easily. Also, would it help if the welcome table was actually outside the Grandroom?
Oh MalleyParticipantDoubling the space might be enough. And not necessarily having more tables, but having the overall table layout changed somewhat would be better. Another thing is to consider is projector placement and what games will be on those projectors. Ideally, we want RB far away from the welcome table AND the PC core. The other projector areas need to be placed well enough apart from each other and with a least a decent sized bubble from major traffic areas. A mock set-up would have to be done. If it can’t be done in time, or have something agreed upon, before the next LAN, then there should be a team of us going around during the LAN making notes and suggestions.
Oh MalleyParticipantWe need sufficient space (for people to move and play) and an access to the power supply. Headsets would be nice assuming the average gamer could actually afford the Turtle Beach headsets. The sound issue we can’t resolve. As far as the massive sound output from RB and all that, we can limit what can is used and how high volume can be turned. If we had standard TVs that all had headphone jacks, then that would be different, but we’re at the mercy at what people can bring.
If that’s not satisfactory, then move us to a different room. If you want to play both, then move it to a different day. Yes, they have their consequences and other issues to resolve. People have to compromise somewhere.
Honestly, I think the LANs themselves need to be carried out differently, but I’ve already voiced my ideas to the P and VP.
Oh MalleyParticipantI wish I could’ve replied to the other then when it was still open.
When I was console president, I did voice the issues of lack of space and power to the executives. I was told that a new layout would be done before the LAN and I would be contacted to help get what I thought the console section would need. This never happened. So do not use the excuse of us not voicing our opinions and concerns. Who else do you think suggested moving the prize tables up to the stage so we actually had more room on the floor?
I have invested enough of my own personal manpower to build the console community to what it is now. Why else do you think Shane nominated me for the position just after I joined the club only 2 months prior? Everything I have done has been for the benefit and the longevity of the console community and the Gaming Club in general. I set up the CP and CVP positions because I knew I wasn’t going to be around much longer and I needed to establish the positions for new people to be trained and distinguished as the leadership of the console community. I have my other concerns which I leave with the executives, rather than posting some rant or cautionary post on the forums because I trust that the executives will do it and rather than having some mass revolt or mob do it for me. With every decision I make, what I choose to vote for, against, or abstain is a direct reflection of what I believe is best for the Gaming Club to continue to grow and expand.
Oh MalleyParticipantI’m just wondering why there is a need for a casual game tournament. Again, it’s not like we’re banning the game entirely. We still want it there. But whatever, I’m sure for now we’ll revert everything back. I think we can add in the SCIV tournament, for variety and to help induct a PS3 tournament. Also, we discussed it, and adding one more tournament won’t be a problem if we stick to schedules.
