Participantlol. While you posted this, I was already writing my own thread. http://www.wcugaming.org/forums/index.php?/topic/12526-zendikar-pre-release-review/
Sucked that no one between 18 boxes drew a Lotus Cobra. But, I was content with what I drew. Just want a Chandra and I plan on making a monored burn deck.

ParticipantGeneral Discussion. Random. Or Maybe the PC Games: Other section? Idk.
Oh Malley
ParticipantAgreed. So Liquid, let’s start some topics in a relevant section.
Oh Malley
ParticipantMaybe it’s not a club supported game because… there wasn’t enough interest in it before. >,> If there’s significant interest in M:TG in the club, then why not add a forum section?

ParticipantStarting out with a BR is more balanced and fair since it gives a good, solid midrange weapon off the spawn. It gives the opportunity to ward off snipers and rocket-wielders in the event of a potential spawn kill.
However, starting with a BR doesn’t mean MLG settings. MLG maps are going to have weapon and power-up spawns not familiar to most players, thus giving an unfair advantage to a small few.

ParticipantEh, I’m about to get into it again. Going to a pre-release event for the new expansion this Saturday.

ParticipantNote on the bottom right hand corner of every post the little plus sign and minus sign. It’s a way of giving postiive or negative rep. I’ve seen it used on several other forums.
But let’s use the system the way it is intended. Positive rep for good, informative posts while neg rep is used for the other usual kind of posts.
I hate to see a system get abused by people “handing out” positive rep for no good reason other than make each other feel good and make the rep system moot.

ParticipantIs he on the waiting list for a donor?
Oh Malley
ParticipantMake sure people are aware of that. Half the time, people don’t realize they start off with a secondary and then go “Oh shi-…dropped my (insert weapon here).” Then they’re blown to bits. Or whatever.

ParticipantThat or you take everything MasterP says seriously. I mean, I know it is MasterP. But I do think he has his own dry sarcastic wit.
Oh Malley
ParticipantSuggestion, only buff the Halo player movement speed settings. I think buff it to 110% or whatever MLG uses. It won’t effect game play a whole lot, but strafing will be better plus game movement should pick up too.

ParticipantMe, Zach (CooLAciD), Brenton, and Daniel (Tallgeese). Best gaming ever.

ParticipantAgreed. It’d be different in that section was exploding with threads. But being that part of the forums sees so little action, it doesn’t justify adding more subsections to it.

ParticipantThis game is pretty win. I miss playing it with my buddies at WCU.
Oh Malley
ParticipantIf you guys ever get a vs room going and I’m free, I’ll play.

ParticipantIf you want voice quality, just have everyone call each other via Skype. But then we’d just be arguing more and more over trivial things.
Oh Malley
ParticipantHeero would be in charge of this. Granted, I bet he’ll want suggestions / recommendations.

ParticipantI read an article recently about a NY university hosting a class about Guitar Hero. However, they ARE discussing the social implications of the game, why it’s so popular, and the impact on the individual, both socially and physically. I think it’s filed under the psychology department.

ParticipantThe rule is so teams don’t come and dominate at the LANs and ruin the fun, casual experience. >,> That’s what I’ve been told during my tenure as console council leader and such.
Oh Malley
ParticipantI generally prefer a more conservative approach. The less government there is, the better. Granted, everything works best assuming everyone is educated and morally well-adjusted.
Oh Malley
ParticipantI totally forget about that since I never play it anymore. >,> I just play versus.
Oh Malley
ParticipantOkay. I guess it just defaults to campaign normally since I usually saw the stat tracker maxing at 4 people.
Oh Malley
ParticipantIt may or may not. It may beef up both. Cause surely there are some who’ll only want to play on the 24/7 and those who don’t. And those who’ll want to play in both (mainly, when one gets tired of the 24/7, swaps over). But yea. Nickname, all of that would be amazing and perfect. Maybe swap a L4D server for a L4D2 one and keep them balanced. Personally, I’d prefer a VS server for L4D(2).

ParticipantSrsly, you and NoDice are the two members I probably hold in highest regard in the entire club. Shame that neither of you got Alumni Adviser.
Oh Malley
ParticipantHonestly, I say.. take the few people who actually have the best intentions for the club ASIDE from their own personal preferences and have them make the rotation. And right now, Nickname is the top of that list. He’s one of the few that always has been in my book.

ParticipantJust so you know.. start figuring out how you’re going to get every computer installed with the LAN games. TF2/L4D will be easy since they’re on the Steam LAN accounts. And also, factor in some install times for the tournaments while you’re trying to factor tournament length and settings.
For the record, this is why we’ve stuck with a lot of Steam games. They’re fairly popular, plus you don’t have to worry about getting multiple copies on every computer fast. Hence why the UT, CoD, and other non-Steam tournaments have been a severe pain in the *edited* for the staff in charge of setting and running those tournaments up.
Also… in my opinion (and since no one seems to have thought of this or bothered to have mentioned it), perhaps the PC side is dying for another reason. Lack of community. I believe it will be proven if you guys still choose to “try new games” to see if it’ll fix anything. The PC community has looked fairly weak in comparison to the console side because of the difference in community strengths. I haven’t seen much of an effort from the PC side to go out and do things together as a collective group to encourage camaraderie and laid the foundation of a solid community. That’s what I did for the console side on the get go, and I credit that to being the primary contributor in why the console side exploded in size and continued to grow even after I stepped aside as the lead proponent.
Just throwing this out there, but it’s something for you to try. Try to organize some get-together events with your PC peeps. It may not be playing games, but movie nights, going out to eat, just hanging out, or whatever, should help start building the foundation needed to rebuild.
Oh Malley
ParticipantIdeally, this would be up to the Console VP. But I will say is this.. go ahead and try to poll the local PSP players to see if they would be interested in such tournaments. If they are, work with the Console VP to see if they can organize a test run mini tournament at the LAN.
