ParticipantEvidentally I’m pretty good at it, since I’ve impressed a lot of players since they’ve questioned my rank.
MTAR21 ftw. Oh well, maybe we can do some freeplay at least at the next LAN.
Oh Malley
ParticipantYeah. I’m not even going to go, because no team will pick me up, most likely. But whatever. Most people won’t rely on FFA skill since FFA seeding doesn’t really add up in most of the MLG community’s opinion.
Oh Malley
ParticipantMy team dropped me because of a “business” decision. Whatever. The new seeding screws over people who actually want to go to MLG events but can’t because other people have “points”.
Oh Malley
ParticipantSweet. My team got a pass. So look for deadLine to make a good impression in Charlotte.
Oh Malley, Vindicator, AlphaMale, and B Reezy (twin bro of gho57ayame). deadLine ftw.

ParticipantEh, I’ve played the Girls Got Game team before. They’re good, but me and my friends beat them. They had to get Anakin to do their dirty work the 2nd time we played them.
Brenda, Foxy, Orietta, and MissGoLightly.

ParticipantIt’ll probably up until a month or two before Halo 3 comes out (the end of the beta that is.) They may keep updating the beta after they’ve resolved the initial set of bugs or whatever. I mean, that’s all we’re there for really.
Oh Malley
ParticipantThe beta hasn’t been released yet. I’ll post when I’ve downloaded it.
Oh Malley
Participantgxti, you live in Reynolds don’t you? If you do, both you and Falcon can come down to try it out. I’m in 128.
Oh Malley
ParticipantWell, you just need to add a check box and a text field. Something to the effect of.. “Do you have a team for …” Yes or No.
“If yes, what is the team name?”
Oh Malley
ParticipantYeah. I thought that was you. Really awkward to bump in Team Training like that. Oh well. It’s always fun goofing around as a big pink and red elite.
Oh Malley
ParticipantEh, why not just have fun console LANs whenever? I mean, no one uses the system link anymore (assuming that still works cross campus). If not, we can always run stuff over XBC (Xbox Connect. http://www.xbconnect.com I think is the address) and you don’t even have to have Live for that sort of thing. And you can use just an Xbox as well with XBC. You just have to have a switch/hub whatever so that your computer can send information between the network and the Xbox. More details on the site.

ParticipantEh, I posted something similar to the suggestions part of the last LAN poll in another section.
Honestly, a lot of things could have been done differently in retrospect but it wouldn’t have made that much of a difference. If you want everyone to have fun, well if you have a 5 min time limit or 25 kills single elimination, well.. they only get 5 mins if they lose. Not much fun there. That’s why consoles either need to have a longer time for tournaments, a separate day, or heck, even free play.
Consoles and TVs are limited though. BYOC doesn’t work, because two or even 4 people may share a console. A couple buddies come over and they all play split screen in the room or at different times and what not. So there’s a limiting factor there. You can’t play split-screen or any sort of game between multiple people on 1 PC unless it’s turn-based. And BYOTV isn’t all that great either since TVs come in multiple dimensions and so on and so forth. And people would complain if they got stuck with like a 13″ TV whereas the guy beside him has a 26″ or even a 32″ Widescreen television. Plus it’s simply too hard or risky to move large televisions for fear of breaking the thing or being unable to put into transport.
Oh Malley
ParticipantI dunno.. it seemed like console players really got shafted this time around. I mean.. the first console tourney was 5 hours after brackets and what not. I mean, granted console players could play PC games, but most of them don’t because 1) they don’t have a good enough PC and 2) they aren’t as good at PC games. Then the Halo 2 tourney only had an hour and a half to be completed. Being the more popular of the two games (between Gears and Halo), it really needs more time dedicated to it since more people would be willing to play that game, therefore meaning more matches. We had to keep cutting down score and time limits just to make sure we’d finish in time. Honestly 5 min time limits or 25 kills doesn’t show much in Halo.. Only who got the better spawn really. But I digress from that point. Console tourneys are more time consuming because they’re limited by their equipment. In the PC games, everyone has their own PC and can easily run multiple matches of 16 or whatever number they can handle. However in the console gaming, you’re limited to how many consoles are present (because everyone might not have one) and the number of TVs present. So as with the last LAN, we had 4 consoles. Since we were doing 2v2s with a full screen, then only 1 match could be played at any given time. Even with split screen, you can only run 2 matches at once. Plus rounds need to be extensive, such as a best 2 of 3 maps with a reasonable time limit and kill count.
My suggestions: Disperse the Console Tourneys throughout the PC tourneys. Have 2 PC Tourneys.. then Console, then another 1 or 2 PC tourneys, then Console, and finish out with PC tourney(s). Or have an entirely separate LAN date for just consoles, allowing for the PC gamers to easily join in by showing up the next weekend or whatever. A place to play wouldn’t be an issue since consoles have a lot less equipment to power and handle; therefore, a smaller room can be used to accommodate it. Plus, if the consoles had its own separate day, multiple tourneys could be run other than just cramming in two game tourneys into a PC/Console mixed LAN. For instance, at a console only LAN, Halo 1 (which is still very popular and fun LAN-wise), Halo 2, Gears of War, and a Madden tourney could all be run. Within the Halo 1 and Halo 2 games, you could have a FFA, 2v2, and 4v4 tourneys easily and could get a very good turnout. Gears could be 2v2 and 4v4 as well. So there is definitely enough games and tournaments to fill up a day, not as much room is needed for a console tourney, and each tournament would have adequate time for a fair, and albeit popular by current standards, competition.
Also, try and get some console sponsors of some sort. Like GelTabz, Microsoft or Xbox itself, etc.
Oh Malley
ParticipantMy bad. Didn’t get it til this morning.
Oh Malley
ParticipantOh well, I tried. Again, I’m accepting donations for the Spartan’s Purse, aka Help Oh Malley go to MLG Charlotte ’07 on an individual basis. And I’m serious about wearing a lot of masking tape with a lot of people’s names on it.
Oh Malley
ParticipantWe’ll see.
Oh Malley
ParticipantYeah.. that was my first time playing on a 360 though. I needed to practice on it.
Oh Malley
ParticipantEh, what? I beat you last FFA last I recall. And the second round you were off the phone and fully focused. Didn’t even make it to the third round.

Oh Malley
ParticipantJust incase the Gaming Club itself does not sponsor me, I have created a Facebook group detailing on how individuals can help towards the cause of “Help Oh Malley go to MLG Charlotte ’07!” aka “MLG Charlotte or Bust!” aka “Help Oh Malley own Noobs Fund”. Anyways, see what all it entails at http://wcu.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2235787629
All questions regarding this “organization” should be directed to helpohmalleygotomlgcharlotte@gmail.com
And yes, that is the actual e-mail address.
Oh Malley
ParticipantAre you j/king about the j/king… or are you j/king about being busted?
Oh Malley
ParticipantHeh.. I just joined your game the other night.. Left since people kept joining. But yeah.. I’ll let you know.
Oh Malley
ParticipantYeah.. well I may and try to team up with Crav3n. He goes to NCSU and he goes a bunch of the guys there. Heck, maybe he can get us Saiyan.
Oh Malley
ParticipantWell, I’m going to a major event, that might be televised on public cable, and definitely broadcasted on the internet as well as be before a mass majority of NC high school kids. I’d be advertising Western and the gaming club itself to guys that are obviously into gaming and possibly seeking a college in their own state with interests in gaming and what not. And yes I would be willing to wear anything that specifically had Western Carolina or even the Gaming club on it and mention it to any and all gamers who approach me. Basically, I’m a walking advertisement with possibly the highest maximum exposure to a majority of the console community. Plus, what if I beat Carbon and/or Final Boss? (I wish). I’d credit it all to Western. Oh yeah.
Oh Malley
ParticipantActually, I’m referring to Giffo, aka Laura Harris.
Oh Malley
ParticipantWell, I have my partner lined up for the 2v2. Everybody may remember her. Yes.. I said her.
Oh Malley
ParticipantI’m trying to find a team now. I know plenty of players across the state who have connections. I’ve played with the NC Pros like Fossik and Thrash a couple times. Not many but few. So I’m bound to get a team. The club can sponsor just 1 player if they wish.. or if they want to get a team from campus to go, then go for it. I just want some funding to go.
Oh Malley
ParticipantYeah. I’m in room 128. If you see a bigger, long haired guy with glasses, that’d be me. And of course, I am the defending H2 FFA champ. Gotta hold my title, right?
Oh Malley
ParticipantI have the map pack disc so even they don’t have the update they’ll get it for free.
Oh Malley
ParticipantWell if we have time during the LAN, would it be possible to do an FFA tourney and a 2v2?
Use the FFA standings to do a seeding placement for the 2v2.
But as far as the FFA goes, weapon set should be Human and possibly limited to just Midship and Lockout. Beaver Creek can be quite unfair in some cases, even with a Human weapon set. And if you do a 1v1 final, do it on Warlock, Human weapon set. Midship is all right, but BR on the midship can pretty much own every spawn. Hard to counter if you’re starting with an SMG.
Oh Malley
Participant2v2 might work best if the crowd wants to do teams. But I can bring my 360. I only have 1 controller though. I have most of the settings as well. Oh well. It wouldn’t be a bad thing to expose people to MLG settings. Besides, it’s balanced. Oh well. WCU Gaming should sponsor some people for an MLG event. That’d be cool. But oh well, that’s for another thread and another time.
But like I said, I have a 360, a controller, Halo 2 and the Map Pack incase someone needs it.
