ParticipantNot paying me either. Plus since we’re in different areas, it’s not like I ever see his name CC’d in an e-mail.
Oh Malley
ParticipantGo ahead and start plannings and contacting now.
Oh Malley
ParticipantWait.. what? You’re a copy editor for Player Affinity? o.o
I’m the Public Affairs Coordinator…

ParticipantI have a suggestion. Try contacting Todd Greene with Track Scan about the Vibras Five. One gaming headsets. I know he’s worked several events and helped provided headsets for large and small events. They’re a fairly local company to boot (based out of Mooresville, NC). I met him a couple years ago at the Carolina Gaming Summit where they had headsets for multiple tournaments. Wouldn’t hurt to contact them and get them as a sponsor.

I plan on going to CGS again this coming February, so if he or Vibras/Track Scan is there again I can definitely talk to them about it as well if need be.

ParticipantEh, they’ll figure it out when idiots stop buying (or even pirating) their product. Seems to me that EA / Activision and probably other publishers as well have put so much stock into console and even casual gamers as of late that they’ve lost touch with the original PC gamers.

ParticipantAnd yet no one bothers to blame Square for not informing GameStop that they were including a coupon for a competitor’s service…. GameStop was trying to preserve its own interests since it is attempting to launch its own digital gaming streaming service (Impulse). If a vendor was giving out coupons for a competitor’s service/store in your establishment, wouldn’t you do something about it to prevent losing business? I don’t blame them for doing something about it; however, it could’ve been handled loads better.
I’ll admit, it was shady for both parties involved, but at least GameStop made up for it to those who purchased the game on PC. They provided a buy 2 get 1 free coupon and I think at least a $50 gift card.

Participant+1 to Adam’s post.
Granted, I will say even when the LANs were smaller, the LAN is plenty loud anyways just from the console gamers (due to the necessary volume from TVs). Granted, I have an idea that may help with that in the future, plus it may add a nice little sponsor to your list.

ParticipantThank you sir. I’ll definitely start getting used to these. If anyone is up for some Gears 3 online to practice, let me know.

When you were around, console expansion was orderly and its growth exponential.
No offense to anyone else, but when you look at the club’s growth curve you can definately tell when you stepped aside. That e^(x) curve became an x/20 line.
I’ll let that be the mark of my legacy then. It’s especially notable coming you.

ParticipantI just played around with the demo unit briefly and the thing made my eyes hurt within 2 minutes. I even tried scaling the 3D down and up to see if it had any effect. It’s ok. But then again, like other Nintendo products, I just see it as gimmicky. But then again, I feel that way about 3D movies/television as well.

ParticipantEphraim, had you been some person I have never met before and just been an on-line entity, then maybe I would’ve taken you as a troll.
However, since that is not true, I do at least know you somewhat and therefore do not equate you with troll like tendencies.

ParticipantI’m just more interested in the other applications that the Kinect can offer. I noticed one “hack” where an individual took a Kinect and reproduced a live 3D manipulative reconstruction of a room. However, since he only had 1 input source, it resulted in cardboard reproductions with accurate depth profiling. If he had more, his presentation would’ve been a lot more fascinating. But otherwise, his proof of concept was nice.

Yep. The term I sat back for the year and didn’t hold office. I spurred for the change in title since all of console gaming was under one person while each other council leader was responsible for one game/server. I was the first CVP, and Shae was my 2nd that year. She took over the next year since I stepped back, hoping other console gamers would step up and take leadership positions before I graduated and left WCU.
/History lesson.

ParticipantThis thread is win.

ParticipantFPS campus gaming used to be a lot better when the whole campus network wasn’t segregated. Mainly during Halo 1 / Halo 2 days. Basically made the whole campus one giant LAN.
Oh Malley
ParticipantThis is true. But when the company’s own developers aren’t looking to do a whole lot with the *edited* thing, do you really expect other people to do the same? Besides, it only detects the one point for the move controller and some weak head/shoulder tracking. I’ve had the Move and it was okay. It’s just as gimmicky as the Wii is in terms of entertainment value and I don’t see it providing much more in any other application.
Oh Malley
ParticipantI see you has no Gears rules posted. If you need help testing, let me know. GT: I am Oh Malley
Oh Malley
ParticipantGranted, I don’t know why anyone would even bother. The Move is just a Wii clone. The Kinect is a lot nicer piece of hardware.
Oh Malley
ParticipantYou should definitely look into the new releases, of Gears of War 3, Dead Island and Space Marine. Granted, since I know you play PC, you may already have the latter two. Some good arcade games I would recommend are Monday Night Combat, Risk: Factions, and if you have a Kinect – Fruit Ninja Kinect.

ParticipantI played for several hours last night. It’s obviously got some bugs, but overall, I’m definitely satisfied with it and intrigued by the small little details in combat.
Oh Malley
ParticipantJust sucks since they said they were going to make it somehow compatiable with older PSP games, such as download codes etc, in a press release.. and then said in a later that they weren’t.
Oh Malley
ParticipantEh, I’ve thought about trying it. But then, I think about a lot of things. Just never one of those things I never got around to.

ParticipantPortal – WHY CAN”T I HAVE MY CAKE AND EAT IT TOO!??
Oh Malley
ParticipantWhy? Are PC gamers solely attached to their PCs while console gamers get out and do things?
Oh Malley
ParticipantHopefully I’ll hear back soon and maybe a friend of mine (Dustin aka ChaosWolf) may drive up here and go together. We’ll see though.

ParticipantHonestly, I’m still against the completely random set because people also come to play with their friends, especially people that they came to the LAN with. Why do we think it’ll provide a GOOD experience for people if they never get to play with their friends?
If 4v4 – have people sign up with pairs if they choose.

ParticipantRight now I’m waiting for an e-mail back from the tournament organizer/shop owner of the place I went to this past weekend. Evidently they’re also holding a Zendikar Release Event this coming Friday as well. Thinking about going to that too.
Oh Malley
ParticipantLooks like we may see some M:TG related threads pop up in the Buy/Sell/Trade part of the forum.

Oh Malley
ParticipantThey’ve got Ally creatures, 5 main races (Elf, Merfolk, Goblin, Kor, Vampire), the landfall mechanics, a lot of kicker spells, and just some interesting cards overall.
Oh Malley
ParticipantI think a blue/black deck got top spot, but I didn’t see very much black at all. I didn’t get that many black cards to even bother considering it. I was debating putting green instead of blue, but I didn’t have enough power overall to put it in. White had to be in there for sure just because of the sheer amount of cards I drew.
