The chance of me going to the lan has been upgraded from very unlikely to slight possibility. If I go, you can sleep on my couch.

Known good game? Mario Kart Wii is not a known good game….. I have heard nothing good about it.

Soul Caliber 4 IS a KNOWN good game and MANY people play it, thus I do not see a problem.

/me throws a log on the fire

I would say that Mario Kart Wii is a known good game.

and as far as networking blah blah blah

Networking has some nice 48 port switches just sitting on a shelf in their office that I’m sure we could use; would only take about 5 mins to get them configured for our usage.

My only request is that they talk with Bitey/DeviantSyntax before making huge changes, and perhaps make sure they are familiar with the club’s constitution.

The geforce nvs160m == geforce 9400; which is meant for lowend gaming no matter how you look at it. look at running 1280×800 at medium settings, no AA/AF

so here is a question to the PC guys. So if me and a bunch of people who are hardcore console gammers came to a meeting and all voted for some random PC game that we liked to play and it took the spot of one or two of your usual games wouldnt you be mad? would you be like “this isnt fair b/c we are the ones who play these games competitivly and put the time we put the time into making these tournaments good.” The Console meeting was for those people who actually cared about what happens during the console portion of the LAN. I myself told atleast 4 or 5 people to come that didnt just for the fact that they themselves were just playing the PC games. Now i get where you are comming from about Votes at the main meeting but honestly i know most of the console gamers didnt vote for the PC games to be played b/c its not a big deal to us. But when the console stuff comes up the PC players just voted for casual games that yall probably dont even play that much. So how come when we want to put the games we all decided on at the console meeting that no PC people were at we get yelled at? We all just are thinking about what would be the most fun for our type of gamer.

I personally voted for games that I would play at the LAN; the PC people don’t have their own meetings to decide console games so I’m not sure your point? Unless you have a problem with people voting that aren’t in your group of hardcore console gamers which isn’t fair to more casual players either. Also PC gamers have to bring their PC, console gamers don’t necessarily have to bring anything so why would a console gamer vote for a pc game if they CANT play it?

I guess that we just don’t care about casual gamers anymore.

I decided the 1 player per class limit so you’re welcome for that.

No you didn’t. You limited engys and scouts. App had the 1 class limit and that’s why I adopted it, cause it worked so well there.

At a 1 class limit, its virtually impossible to have an impenetrable defense, especially on turbine.

Best players that are going to be there are probably you, Kuros, and Kappamerc. Also very good are MasterP, Nukedude, Cacaphony, Chupathingy, and NoDice.

In the past, we have put caps on how many people can be each class (I personaly like the limit of 1 per class) and every lan we have had enough people for 4 teams of 5

and yes, doing fair teams is going to be hard. i’ll save my opinion for that thread later

I think the “fairest” way might be to pick the teams gym-class style; with the “best” 4 players being “team captains”. At the very least, the teams should be more balanced that way, though not perfect obviously.

I had to think about this but guys I have a very serious problem with what went down here. It is the duty of the club to play the games that are VOTED to be played; not the games that a select few want to play. Now which is a better representation of the club: the 13 people at the console meeting or the almost 50 at the general club meeting? Now if you want to add additional games, those should be based purely on the number of votes that each game received; as its already been said, both Mario Kart Wii and Wii Bowling received more votes than GH3 and SC3. Of course if you wanted to up to another tournament, GH3 would be an obvious choice because it received the next highest # of votes, etc.

I could argue this stuff all day but it all comes down to this: If you guys are going to go and decide the games without the entire club’s input, that’s fine (we would need an amendment to the constitution) but DONT waste the club’s time in the general meeting to vote in games if you aren’t going to adhere to those votes.

I had a copy of mario kart wii and the tourney could be played very similar to mario kart 64 (imagine that)

maps we used for the last lan that are good to use again are ctf_turbine and ctf_mach4. We have used ctf_well in the past but I think its too big; same with 2fort. Since we are only doing 5v5, the key is having relatively small maps.
