thats all they do, TF2 is too complex to write any code to make the bots do anything.

You can use them like puppets though, manipulating them to do things such as follow you around and fire their weapons

That sir, is incorrect. The Bot AI is being written by the same person who wrote it for CSS.

but at the moment, they dont do anything

 

and it would be difficult to play unless they added in some type of command GUI to help with orders you would normally do over voice chat
