There was a virus that spread around WCU a few years back that had similar syptoms to your problem.
http://www.wcu.edu/it/ITS/software/downloads/rinbotfix.zip
If you’re running Vista then go ahead and reformat as the Vista versions if this sort of virus are extremely hard to completely remove.

reformatthat’s what i’d say. it’s the only surefire way to absolutely KNOW you killed the virus. however, if ur rents have ridiculous amounts of crap on the their comp, then it would prolly be easier to try and fix it first.

but reformatting fixes EVERYTHING!this thinking is beyond bad its so wrong if you do not clear the bios it doesn’t matter if you format or not it will reinfect from the bios . safe thing have a mobo that has die hard bios so there isn’t a way for the bios to be hurt 2ND clear your bios before and after you do a format
BTW when was the last time the cookies for the browsers were cleaned out as this can cause the problem you are describing

ParticipantWinsockfix to be safe, combofix and SDfix, then I would run hijackthis and google anything unfamiliar.
