Worth noting is that the PS3 used boxed footage created using an SDK on a “comparable PC” for their E3 2005 demo. XBOX/360 was probably the same, it *IS* a PC after all.
At least the Wii U used footage from actually comparable hardware. It’s not the best scenario but worse has certainly been done in the past. Let’s not forget that the E3 2005 PS3 was so different from the final one that it’s hard to believe it wasn’t a fake. I mean 2 HDMI and 3 LAN ports? Get real…
The 360 footage was done from the development box, which for a 360 was a dual core mac pro… kinda funny actually when you think about it. But at least Sony didn’t use 360 footage…. it’s one thing to just make up footage on a computer, its quite another to steal footage from a COMPETITOR’S console that is ALREADY ON THE MARKET… I mean really thats pretty pathetic.

After admitting it used the footage, Nintendo’s response was that the hardware would be >= the hardware used in the footage…
Companies say lots of things that aren’t necessarily true. for example, Microsoft said Windows ME was “the most compelling operating system yet for home users” when it was announced

any comments on the fact that they used 360/ps3 footage in their announcement video? I mean I dont know about all of you but them just sayind “it will look like this” is not the same as the console actually being able to do that.
It’s interesting that you’d say that because I read several complaints that the visuals shown didn’t look as detailed as the 360/PS3. If they truely didn’t use the Wii U’s own hardware to render them that’s pretty damned ironic IMO.
“The console’s games don’t look as good as the 360 or PS3… oh wait, nevermind.” lol
It’s the same people that swear the PS3 version of some games looks better than the 360 version or vice versa, when in reality even in screenshots the difference is almost indistinguishable and there is no chance they would be able to tell a difference when playing the game at full speed from 5 ft away from their TV. It’s called fanboyism.

ParticipantI’m sorry but that Wii U controller looks awful. The point of a controller, in my opinion, is to control without having to look at it. If I am playing a game I want to be able to watch the TV, not have to look down at another screen to do other things. Ugh its big and bulky and ugly too… what was Nintendo thinking, exactly? Didn’t everyone just want a console with the power of a PS3 but the controls of a Wii?

ParticipantThere isnt one single game out there that the 6990 can play that the 5970 can’t… and there sure in hell is no way that there is $400 of difference between the two. You would have to be playing Crysis at 2650×1600 max settings to even see a visual difference between them. ~20% performance difference for ~130% price difference = I think you know which was the better buy lol.

Participantyeah I used to have a M1530 but the temps never got that hot…
Do you have the 6 cell or 9 cell battery? The 9 cell helps elevate the computer and really helps it stay quite a bit cooler.

Participant50 degrees celsius is way too hot for an idle temp….. you should only be 50-60 for the cpu under load.

ParticipantI love my plantronics .370s (http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-Open-Ear-Stereo-Headset-370/dp/B000EZUE52) but I would not pay that price for them. I think I got them on some ridiculous sale about 2 years ago for maybe $15. Not sure how the ones you suggested compare but I would definitely get another plantronics set once this set dies/breaks (which I dont think will be anytime soon). I would even go as far as to say those gamecons you are looking at are probably what I personally would buy.

Why would you want to play the game through a set top box that has a long history of pixelated graphics and down-scaled resolution? What’s worse is that the multiplayer would only be with other OnLive players and if your internet or their system goes down you’re SOL. Plus you never own the game, not even a digital copy, the game files never touch your network or computer. That’s a little squirrely for my tastes.
Steam also has it for $45.
I have to re-iterate though, why would anyone want to pre-order a game that’s already been delayed this long? A few poor people still have their gamestop pre-order receipts from 9-10 years ago, something tells me they won’t be honoring them

if you don’t own a console or a gaming computer and you never want to have to do a system upgrade, then its really not that bad of a deal. but you have to have a kickass internet connection that is for sure.
it’s actually not that bad. I have onlive installed on my laptop. I havent actually bought anything but you can play 30 mins of any game in their catalog for free. It’s amazing (to me) to see games like batman arkham asylum playing well on my lowly laptop. Lag is definitely an issue though; multiplayer would not be very good i dont think.

ParticipantI saw these online the other day and was interested.. many people say they greatly improve your accuracy. If I played a lot of xbox/ps3 online, I would give it a shot.

Participantwasn’t the darkness and horror-ness like the whole point of the original FEAR?
Did FEAR 2 even sell well enough to warrant a 3rd one?

170, for off brand ones maybe like visiontek or galaxy. XFX ones come at a premium, and appraised unanimously by hundreds of different people to be around the $200 mark because of both their condition and warranty. I trust them far more than what you say lol, because I know what the resell value is:P
FYI that $170 price was for an XFX card and that was from back at the end of March (the item is since deactivated). Maybe you should do some research rather than just blindly trusting people on a message board. OK maybe that was a little mean, but I would prefer you not just assume I am talking out of my *edited*.

The fact is, I never said you couldn’t get $200 for it. A quick eBay search will prove as much. Cards actually tend to go up in value right after they cease production (all the people that wanted a 2nd for crossfire, for example, will flock to try and pick one up). I just said I think the card is actually worth $140, but supply and demand is a wonderful thing (if you have the supply at least).

ParticipantCS and CSS are still ranked # 1 & 2, respectively, on steam, by a long shot. Not really sure why though.

Participantnew content: lemm is a fatty. not as fat as major tho.

ParticipantI saw them as low as $170 new before they went out of stock everywhere because they were replaced. I mean if you can get $200 for them go for it, I am just saying I wouldn’t pay nearly that much.
