ParticipantSince no one is going to take the time and actually read my posts I’m going to leave this topic. Have fun.

MasterP I don’t have enough money to afford an XBOX 360 right now, I may have before I got my computer but we are not talking about the past we are talking about now, most college students are more worried about food, rent, or gas money than they are an XBOX 360 to say that it is easy to just go out and buy one is a bit pompous, don’t be so hasty to think everyone has money just laying around to spend, I don’t know if that is what you meant by what you said but that is how it came across to me, so please clarify or don’t make assumptions like that.Take the time and read my post, you’ll notice I never said “it is easy to just go out and buy one”. You missed the entire point of that post if you got that message out of it.

ParticipantThe sadest part is if something like this were true. MSN, Yahoo, AOL, phones, they all have server-side filters to catch convos containing certain phrases but MMOs have absolutely no logging at all except what admins see. This would actually be an ideal place to chat without being caught. I doubt if they’d be stupid enough to use general chat but keep in mind we’re talking about the people of dirkastan.

Actually, it ties up more if they’re run concurrently. We have limited copies of Halo 3, Xbox 360s, and TVs.Read what I said, it wouldn’t tie up any more resources if the same people were going to play Halo 3 anyway. You’d still have the same number of people playing concurrently, it would just be split between 2 brackets. Depending on how you plan it, something like this would be very do-able.

We don’t have the luxury of each person having their own gaming machine. Is this even necessary? You’ve posted this several times at it’s annoying as hell. While it is true that some Halo3 players won’t have an XBOX360, I think it’s a fair assumption that a majority have their own XBOX360s and, if asked, could bring it. Also keep in mind that console gaming is cheap compared to PC gaming. For the same price as my computer I could have bought six XBOX360s. It not like it’s a tremendous burden to buy one so please stop making it out as though it is.

Intel, get over themselves? Orly? lolYa really. It takes a specially kind of company to let a grudge hurt that large of a consumer base.
MasterP
ParticipantNot sure how it works in consoles but in PCs, large team-based tournaments aren’t any fun unless you know the people you’re playing with. Keep the teams at 2v2, it makes it much easier for random people to learn to play with each other.
You might try having a team-based tournament AND a free-for-all tournament. That way you let the small-team loving people have it their way and the people who didn’t bring buddies have it their way. Both could occur at the same time if you limit registration to one or the other and it really doesn’t tie up any additional resources since the people were going to play in a Halo 3 tournament anyway.

Also, Nvidia already said that they were not going to support the new 45nm quads on the 680i, sorry Kip.Actually the pre-release versions of the QX9650 and the new 45nm chips work great on the 680i chipsets and have been used in tech show demos all over the place. Apparently Nvidia refused to give Intel a license for SLI technology so they made the release versions of all 45nm processors electrically incompatible with the 600 series chipset. They CAN be fully compatible if Intel decides to get over themselves.
I’ve also heard of people using QX9650s in newer 680i motherboards and actually being able to POST and boot Windows with them. However most have had to disable 2 of the cores to do it and the few who have been able to use all 4 cores have had to reduce the FSB back to 1066.
Nvidia may make a BIOS update in the next year or so, if not it’s probably not a big loss. The Q6600 should bottom out in the next few months to clear them out of inventory and I doubt I’ll run into anything that’ll give it a run for it’s money within the next 2-3 years. The chip is extremely powerful for the price.
MasterP
ParticipantNot much of a difference. Maybe 10 FPS.
In other news, there is still hope for the 680i chipsets. Nvidia has released an update that makes the 680i and 680i LT chipsets fully compatible with the 45nm Core2 dualcore processors. If it’s compatible with the duals it’s only a matter of time before the big boy chips will work in it.

woot cheaper card with a better core clock and other better things!Fewer stream processors will make a noticible difference. The 8800 and 9600 certainly aren’t the same, or equivalent, cards.

ParticipantBunny hopping / Air strafing is right at impossible with normal gravity and air acceleration settings; if you see someone doing it odds are it’s a script.
Hopping also makes you a much harder target and messes with shot registration so even if the person hits you with the AWP it’s probably not going to register. Ask them to stop doing it during mid-round, if they don’t get rid of them.

since thier is nor competer is the price going to drop, go up, or stay the same for the ps3?/me considering buying one once mgs and gta come out
Why would the price drop on a gaming console? The Blu-ray player is probably one of the cheaper parts in the PS3.

Also, the 8800gts is shorter than your gtxTrue, I had forgotten about that. They are about 1.5-2 inches shorter. Still something to double check.
MasterP
ParticipantAlso keep in mind that most of the mid-tower cases cannot fit an 8800 series video card without sacrificing hard drive mounts in the front. Make sure you measure everything before you buy.

I AM NOT BUYING AN ARMOR! OUT OF THE QUESTION!And that’s fine but Man Law dictates you cannot use that excuse.
Btw, Mouchet has found some case straps rated to work on fully loaded Armor cases. Doubt that will make a difference but it might.

Back to my original post, go with the Armor. “It’s too big” is never an excuse for anything, I believe they even have a Man Law about that.
Back to topic: The Antec 900 looks to be a good case for the price.

Chris, they don’t work well as in they tear and break open very easily. They are also hard to get cables in. If you want more details use Google.

ParticipantThey had the losers continue playing for 2nd place so we were pretty much playing at the same time. The only teams that weren’t playing at the same time were the ASU byes, IE the sketchy ones.
On a side note, the tournament coordinator should make a few rounds around the room to make sure players are playing legitimately. I saw the coordinator one time and he was specing me because I was pulling the Renton shotgun bullcrap.

Looks like you guys reaaly showed them how TF2 is supposed to be played. I wonder if they’ll attend our next LAN and try to win back their honor.Doubtful.
MasterP
ParticipantKeep in mind that Process Explorer isn’t the best program in the world, despite what campus IT claims. I would do some low-level digging with real Windows tools before flashing BIOS. Also update/reinstall your chipset drivers. If there was a problem with true hardware-level CPU interrupts it wouldn’t just be taking resources from one virtual CPU and leaving the other untouched.

I like it, the server runs somewhat smoother. My ping actually also used to be alot lower just like d2.sticky.
I used to run int the 30’s not that long ago maybe 4 months.
Now im constantly around 70-75. Not really that big of a deal, but obviously i liked it better before.
This isn’t anything we can fix. If you don’t like the new pings, complain to Valve.

I’m debating on whether or not I should post any constructive criticism on their forums. Overall, it was even worse than the last one I went to. I don’t know what their deal was this time around. If they ever get around to authorising my account I intend to. There are a few really basic things they got wrong. I’m all about letting them fail if they want to but instead of worrying about Kitten Cannon all day it might have been better to notice the absence of plates, soda, the uplink connection on half the switches; you know the basic stuff.

When they get around to approving my registration on their forums I’m going to rip them a new one on the way they handled the PC games. They gave byes to teams that couldn’t get their act together in TF2 and let pretty obvious hacking go on in the CSS tournament. The CSS cheating was fostered by the disabling of VAC security on all their match servers (but not the pub
) They started the CSS matches at $16,000 which is retarded for match-play. Their brackets seemed screwed up too, with the best team getting an automatic bye and the final match only determining the #1 spot (not the #2 spot). The server admin team was also pretty unprofessional throughout the night, wanting to start matches before people were connected and stopping matches before they were done. The random restarts in TF2 got old too.
The lack of drinks was disappointing as well, pretty much all they had was sponsor donated Red Bull. They got about a million pizzas but didn’t have any plates.
Overall I definately prefer WCU LANs over ASU but I’ll take easy TF2 wins where ever I can get them. If we could get the same amount of university sponsorship that they have we’d blow them out of the water.
