I have been playing on WCU for over a year straight since I left the Appstate server. People didn’t take care of the Appstate server so it became laggy and everyone from there came to WCU. My ping at WCU was always great for a year until recently. In January, my ping went from 40 to 140. On my other favorite servers, my ping is still 40. However, at WCU, my ping goes down the drain all of a sudden. Now when I try to play at WCU, I get kicked for having a high ping? Seems unfair to me. Why not have a system that kicks people who have pings higher than 200? I have been a loyal player at this server.
You have really 3 options. See if one of the admins can get you better routing to the server or call your isp and see if they can. 3rd one is to obviously to not play anymore.
The 150 ping system is awesome. I think it should be 125. There are exploits of having 150 ping. Some which people use for unfair play on purpose. It sucks.

The new server enforced rates make it a lot harder to exploit latency.
there are exploits whether ur ping is 5 or 200 or 100. so that makes no difference. all i can say is keep close tabs on ur rates. you can easily adjust ur rates very easily to show lower ping and keep decent gameplay.

The more knowledgable admins know how to manually check your rates and may kick/temp ban for obviously exploiting them.
Do you people seriously not read? The rates are enforced by the server. There are minimums that you HAVE TO HAVE. The only real exploit I can think of would be the standby exploit. Nothing that we can stop on our end but EXTREMELY easy to catch.
Thanks for your suggestions guys. When my cable roadrunner is running well, my ping in the server hovers around 130-140 so I guess I’ll just play on WCU during those hours.
Please take in consideration that some people (like me) have ping usually arround 130-150 and all times i wanna play i get kicked cuz the ping ups 4 or 5 times to 152,153, etc never its higher so i mean this rule its some bad because my ping really not increase the lag on server but i cant play fine cuz i get kicked all times just for 2,3 or 4 digits over 150…
Sorry for my english but i love this server and since this rule ots on i cant play 1 map completelly.
Please take this in consideration
The server is for people who want to go to wcu. If you are that far away then you probably have no interest in the university. Its not a high priority for us. But we may mention it in a meeting.

:angry: Your ping is polled every 25 seconds by the ping kicker. If you have a ping over 150 when you get polled, you get booted.

I like it, the server runs somewhat smoother.
My ping actually also used to be alot lower just like d2.sticky.
I used to run int the 30’s not that long ago maybe 4 months.
Now im constantly around 70-75. Not really that big of a deal, but obviously i liked it better before.

This isn’t anything we can fix. If you don’t like the new pings, complain to Valve.
Have you tried recently? My ping was like double what it normally was and I hadn’t played in a long time and then tonight I fired up CS instead of my normal DOTA and my ping was back where it normally was, around 80-90. I’m not sure what if anything has changed but figured it was worth noting.

most of us who are regulars on WCU tend to live further away ( hence all the Canadians on here)
i mean i can understand tryin to make the server run smoother but a lot of us live no where near WCU and have bad latency
