I haven’t shopped at Gamestop since I caught them ignoring carding rules. That decision has saved me a number of headaches over the years.

ASU tried flash games once. I’ll let one of the other PC players that was there detail just how… interesting… it was to watch.

    Yeah…

From the crowd out there now you’d never think the movement was started by libertarians and Ron Paul supporters. Then again, they ran all of those off weeks ago.

What I’d like to see is Samuel L. Jackson firing a rocket-propelled chainsaw with snakes tied to the handle at a group of hippie jedi eating Big Kahuna burgers while riding in a plane.

Once a thread’s been pony’d it can’t be undone. We’re just going to have to make a new no new content thread.

From what I’ve heard from him, it’s not as dramatic as it seems.

In Cairo I’m sure it’s not. 60-75% of the Christians in Egypt live there and their population size is too large to oppress in any meaningful way. In the southern part of the country, where they’re a significant minority almost everywhere, is where I’m talking about.

i dont know about libya, but the egyptian protests were initial started by a facebook post by a google marketing manager. Now unless he is somehow tied to the muslim brotherhood, what else you got?

You mean the facebook account he shared with AbdulRahman Mansour, member of the Muslim Brotherhood and avid Hamas supporter?

And now the Christians are fleeing the country en-mass. Just yesterday Egyptian army APCs rammed through a crowd of Christian protestors, killing any that couldn’t get out of the way. A number of churches have been destroyed by “ultraconservative Islamists” and they routinely break into the homes of Christians and kill all who live there. If they were “fed up” with Mubarak I can’t imagine how they feel about the replacement regime…

It doesn’t really matter who was protesting so much as who started it. People don’t just go out and protest, someone has to plan and organize it. You think thousands of people just woke up on the same day and said to themselves “let’s go protest today?” As idealistic as that might be, that’s not how it works. The Muslim Brotherhood formed the snowball and pushed it down the hill. With the incumbent administration gone they became the dominant political faction in the country, all they needed was an “outraged” populace to toss a relatively peaceful (for the region) dictatorship out of the country and then they could roll in and take over. Within 15 years the country will be back under Sharia Law and they’ll be wishing they hadn’t tossed Mubarak out, that’s assuming they ever get out from under military dictatorship. Elections were supposed to happen last month and, well, didn’t. What did happen was in August 15 governors were appointed, most from the military. Yeah that country’s screwed and they have no one to blame but themselves.

Almost the exact same can be said for Libya. Some random army/police just fired into a peaceful and unarmed crowd of protestors? Planes bombed the crowds? Yeah ok. You’ll notice that out of all the videos posted online there wasn’t a single one that had any of that. In 40 years the history books will read that the Muslim Brotherhood, or someone else like them, fired into that crowd. They knew all it would take to ignite that powderkeg was a few people dead in the streets and lo and behold people got shot. Coincidence? Maybe if Egypt hadn’t just happened I’d be inclined to think so but after the extremely well played political manuevers that were done there I seriously doubt it.

I like Herman Cain’s views on the “protestors”.

This has nothing to do with wall street, CEOs, or corruption. In fact, they don’t seem to have any coherent message or complaint. Typically when that’s the case there’s a well-established political faction behind it. In virtually every country where there’s been random rioting and protests lately there was a political force driving it. Be it Muslim extremist groups in Egypt and Libya, the Labour party in England, or the Democrat party here in the US.

I guess the one consolation is that we won’t be getting the London-style rioting. Over here it’s legal to shoot someone in the face when they come at you with a baseball bat ;)

It was Wario. I consider myself as having a bad day if he even lays a finger on me when I play Ike :)

I get that he’s tough, I get it, my problem is that once you start banning “overpowered” characters you create a entirely objective metric that can’t be fairly or evenly applied.

If they make another Starfox I pray they use the same music composer(s) as Mario Galaxy.

Speaking of which, Starfox on Wii U would be pretty incredible.

I’m just going to drop this right here. This is from the MSDN WinSock tutorial. Note the example port they used.

1.The getaddrinfo function is used to determine the values in the sockaddr structure:

•AF_INET is used to specify the IPv4 address family.

•SOCK_STREAM is used to specify a stream socket.

•IPPROTO_TCP is used to specify the TCP protocol .

•AI_PASSIVE flag indicates the caller intends to use the returned socket address structure in a call to the bind function. When the AI_PASSIVE flag is set and nodename parameter to the getaddrinfo function is a NULL pointer, the IP address portion of the socket address structure is set to INADDR_ANY for IPv4 addresses or IN6ADDR_ANY_INIT for IPv6 addresses.

•27015 is the port number associated with the server that the client will connect to.

Snake or Diddy Kong will be next. Once you cross that line it becomes a moving target and you can never get back on the right side of it.

Not trying to argue, just saying how it usually is.

Like I said, I never had a problem killing metaknight with either Ike or Falco. In fact, I had a whole lot more trouble with the mid-tiers than I ever did the high tiers. The high tier characters are only high tier because of a very limited number of strengths or moves, once you learn what those are it’s very easy to adapt your gameplay to counter them. If you’ve mastered a mid-tier odds are your playstyle will not be from the same cookie cutter mold that the high tiers characters have to use which makes you much more deadly.

The last time I checked the numbers, Metaknights won over 40% of competitive Brawl tournies. In a game with 35 characters, having one that dominates that badly is ban worthy.

Yeah but those players are simply going to move to the next “highest tier” character and you’re just going to have a repeat of the same thing. Those metaknight players are going to be looking for new “balance issues” to take advantage of and they’re going to find one.

[general ranting – not directed at anyone here]

The problem isn’t that the characters are “broken” so much as the mindset that to be “the best” you have to take advantage of that. Even if Nintendo had patched and “fixed” meta knight, those people would have moved to another player. It would become a constant struggle to keep the game “balanced” and once that happens you can forget the SSB series because it’ll be too high maintenance for them to bother with.

Since the original SSB, some characters have been vastly superior to others. A good Fox or Pikachu player could destroy any other character, often regardless of the other character’s skill. We used to test this crap all the time back in middle school. It’s just the nature of the series and it isn’t going to change. If you can’t cope with that there are plenty of other fighters, maybe you should pick one and stop whining.

    [/rant]
