ParticipantNice. On campus I never really had a problem with my internet unless there was a network virus or something. Always enjoyed those blazing speeds. I had the technician come out here again and he basically told me its out of his hands and all I can do is make my line scream louder than the others. (AKA more dB = louder line = I get my data through).
I could pay for the 15Mb line but I would only get a 1-3Mb increase at peak times
. He suggested I take my tv off the splitter and just connect the in cable straight to the cable to my modem to give myself more db and I might try that tonight to see if it helps. At any rate, wtb FiOS, too bad it isn’t here yet
. I did hear they are putting it in town as we speak but not here in cullowhee yet.Kappamerc

ParticipantFiOS is expanding across NC as we speak but I’m not in range of FiOS at the moment booo
lol. I was told that they are currently ripping out all copper lines and replacing them with Fiber. He said the backbone is whats taking so long and couldn’t give me a timeframe but did assure me it would be sooner than later >.<still sucks for me though, here is what mediacom did today:
4pm I had 7.2Mbps, now I’m at 400Kbps… always drops at 5:30pm and stays dropped til 3am… doesn’t get to full speed until 10am…
Everyday it is like this. I cannot stand it anymore.
I wish I could find a suitable replacement!

ParticipantPretty sure this is Steams response to Windows Live.
A FREE system that doesn’t require to you pay Microsoft to play games. At least during the beta most people seemed to suggest that was the case.
Either way, at least they give you the options to customize it the way u want.
Also, at least it is free.

ParticipantOrdered the 8800GTX EVGA, e6750, 20″ widescreen monitor, a side case fan that is really loud and pumps tons of air, a g11 keyboard, a gigabyte motherboard (haven’t had problems with them yet and the one I ordered got pretty good reviews given the price range).
The card and fan came in already, went ahead and put them in my current machine just so i have something to play with.
Holy hell the 8800GTX is huge.
Lets hope my rma gets processed soon. Wanna know what they will replace the old card with.

Participant** UPDATE **
After reviewing the warranty, I should still be covered until the 9th of September. Neweggs offices are closed today but should be open tomorrow. The card I bought is out of stock so I am pretty sure they will send something else. From what I read on recent comments a few people got 8600GTS’. I am still getting the 8800GTS 640mb. This will just enable me to put all the parts im replacing into my other case ^^.
Anywho, lets hope I can still RMA.

Thats the exact video card I bought last September.
I think im gonna buy a new motherboard just to support the 6750. Now which mobo to choose ^^.
Kappamerc
ParticipantYeah, I really would like the e6750 but unfortunately my mobo is revision 1.0 and doesn’t support the 1333fsb. At this rate i’ll have a new pc >.<
current mobo

revision 1.0 – too bad I didn’t get a revision 3.3 that does support 1333.

ParticipantAs far as the monitor and processor goes, I plan on getting new ones fairly soon. Most likely a widescreen lcd monitor and a e6600. However, given that I’m getting all three of these I will most likely go with the 8800GTS, for the sake of my wallet
.Currently running a 4yr old CRT monitor and a pentium D 2.66 oced to 3.2.
So out of the 2 evga 8800GTS 640mb. Which should I pick here at newegg.

ParticipantGotta start playing sauce some more. Sorta stopped over summer ^^.

ParticipantIn retrospect I have no room to talk.

If you’ve played source you have, at one point or another, taken it seriously.

ParticipantWhat is this ‘ultimate prize’ she speaks of?

ParticipantSo, now that i’ve experienced the first boss, Bioshock is definitely a great game. Its story really is nuts and the game is excellent as far as suspense goes. The game isn’t as open as Oblivion and still has a basic set of objective one must complete. However, there are lots of little areas for you to explore that simply give u more story information, more abilities, or simply more loot from the downed enemies that respawn every once in a while. The art style and gameplay are great and I really don’t see any problems with the game. Apparently if you die you simply get respawned at some cryo tube thing so u can get back into the action and kick *edited* without having to redo what u just did. I haven’t died yet so that hasn’t really been a concern.
I haven’t fought a big daddy yet but I did harvest a little sister. I’m a pansy so I chose not to kill her and only got 80 Adam instead of 160.
Another really cool thing is the mini game you play each time you try to hack or break open a safe. Its a time race to connect tubes in a certain way to make a path for some liquid.
It succeeds in everything the game tries to do.
Currently my character shoots AoE lightning when hes hit in melee, hits really hard w/ the wrench, and has extra hacking abilities. I got the pistol, wrench, shotgun, and machine gun. I also have the lightning, incenerate, and enrage abilities. The last of which makes my foe attack other people.
At any rate, fun game, ^^.

ParticipantThe demo was far more linear than the rest of the game. They basically made that first level for teaching the player the basics. In interviews they explained that the first level was the most linear part of the game.
I’m still waiting for the stupid UPS guy to get my copy to me… he left for delivery at 9:16am and here it is, 1:30pm and no game yet
. I played the demo and thought it was fantastic but I didn’t get to experience all the really cool stuff because the demo really only goes through the beginning ‘tutorial style’ level. If it doesn’t get here today then I get free shipping though… ^^.
From everything I’ve read about the game, as you play you become immersed and attached to the story/characters/game world. Constantly wanting to know whats going to happen next. The fact that you have about 50 passive abilities to choose from, on top of your hand powers (which all upgrade), and your 6-8 weapons (which all upgrade and have 3 different types of ammo each), is really appealing to me. The demo didn’t even let you fight a Big Daddy and from all accounts doesn’t scratch the surface of the story or game play. The levels beyond the first become more open and exploratory. I read that you can turn off all the console style help in the PC version so that you can experience the world without all the dumb GUI. At any rate, I’ve yet to hear anything bad about the game and to see all reviewers giving this game a 9+ rating really says something.
Oh and one more thing, if you download this game without paying for it then go to hell. Buy it or don’t play it. The team behind this game definitely deserves to be paid for their work!
