Participantso, looks like all of a sudden now when you open steam or cs:s or whatever you’ll be informed of a new add-on for steam, steam community. think myspace for steam. that’s all I’m gonna say for now.

ParticipantEh, the friends list and chat thing arent exactly bad. I just don’t like the little pop ups in the corner of my screen telling me what so and so is doing or what so and so is saying to me.
I don’t really see any need for the profiles though. Steam isnt supposed to be a social networking program…

Participantyou can turn those pop ups off in your settings

ParticipantIndeed you can turn all that off and customize it pretty well.

ParticipantYou can customize it pretty well but I’m still not going to do *edited* with the profiles or whatever.

ParticipantOoo, thanks for pointing that out! *goes to fiddle with the settings*.
I considered putting an avatar up there just for fun, but I don’t think I care enough for the whole profile deal.

ParticipantPretty sure this is Steams response to Windows Live.
A FREE system that doesn’t require to you pay Microsoft to play games. At least during the beta most people seemed to suggest that was the case.
Either way, at least they give you the options to customize it the way u want.
Also, at least it is free.
