Congrats on longest post in the spam thread. LolDid you ever play Total Annihilation, Kappa? TA wasn’t ever really a quick-paced game but could become one if managed well enough, like Age of Empires. I haven’t played Supreme Commander but I really hope it still has the feel of TA.
CnC sounds great though, I’ll definitely have to pick it up this summer or sometime soon.
If you enjoyed TA, SC is replica on a larger scale. Just isn’t my type of game though. Not really sure why. The massive forces idea is great but I just felt bored after a few MP games.

. It does require a good computer to run efficiently so that is the ultimate downside to CoH. By far SC is the easiest and most capable to run when/if we finally host our fist RTS tourney that is something to consider for sure.I’ve yet to really get into the new CnC so thats TBD. Ultimately it is fun and fast paced and I don’t really see games lasting extremely long. In fact, if we needed to limit time we could just go by scores or even (in SC’s case) go by resources gained / spent throughout the game. The most efficient people win after x amount of time.
Just a couple ideas…
**EDIT** CnC3 has Battlecasting. Basically its sportscasting for multiplayer games

.So far so good with cnc3. I’m really enjoying the old school feel to it
CnC3 has quick gameplay as far as building up and attacking goes. If nothing else it is worth the single player experience. I’m enjoying this a lot more than I did Supreme Commander… SupCom just seemed really too massive and maps take way too long imo. At least with CnC3 it is fast, fun, and pleasant to look at.
I haven’t really experienced the game too much yet, mainly just the single player with a bit of LAN action here and there. Definitely takes you back to the old days of the genre though!
Stalker is definitely a great Free Roam FPS game. Recently got out of a lab that really creeped me out but it isn’t ‘too creepy.’ By that I’m comparing it to Doom 3 which I felt was a bit too creepy to really ‘enjoy’
.Best part about Stalker is the atmosphere for me. The first ‘wow’ I had in the game was the first time I experienced night time with rain and lightning. The shadows on the building beside me would be outlines of the trees that were all around and they danced on the outside wall of the building as the lightning would strike each time… Really thought it was a great touch. The wind during the daytime (while the leaves blowing around do clip through some other textures) is also a nice touch.
The balistics in the game take a bit to get used to because in the begining it takes a ton of bullets to down a guy unless you can hit him in the head. However, the actual sound is amazing plus the fact that you can basically only take as many his as they can. If they shoot you in the head, it hurts. In the begining don’t forget that you are a Rookie and most enemies are Veteran or better!
Random info on the two games. Supreme Commander is a genre defining game but it didn’t really keep me involved for long. I think it needs to be more quick paced

As for making a shirt that everyone understands; On the other side of this coin a shirt that not everyone understands has a story behind it and gives culture to our community. I’d rather have something interesting that not everyone knows automatically than something that says ‘hey I’m boring.’ If someone cares they will generally find out what something means anyway. I do agree that the text on the Shirt should not be an obscure idea. However, if it pertains to any of the popular gaming language that floats around, I don’t see how that would be a problem. We are after all, a gaming club ^^.
Just a thought.

Oh and Ceiling Cat is really my hero. Really.
I really like the last one. I do think that all text should be gold (or at least one color or the other) though. Just my opinion

Purple would be better as far as standing out goes, white is as bad as black in that regard. Plus white gets offwhite quickly and is harder to keep clean since it has a logo on it (can’t bleach it).

Black makes the Purple cat logo stand out better. It also helps the gold text stand out. White is still horrible for a shirt due to its lack of style and inability to be effectively clean (it won’t last long). Imagine the first LAN and all that pizza, booo. Second LAN all the shirts are grease stained or off white… Yeah, bad juju.

This is just my take on the ranking system. If you don’t care, don’t read, I’m simply bored and feel like typing about something
.I find the system to be rather annoying. Half of the time that I play I find myself pitted against a decent new player to our server who is skilled but not necessarily better than me and I drop 1-10 places simply because they are new and gain points exponentially faster than I. Of course most poeple would say ‘don’t die’ but really, when you kill 20 people and die 5 times and come out with -points and -positions there is something wrong. Just because a player doesn’t have a lot of points doesn’t mean that they aren’t skilled but with this system it does mean u get less points and they get tons. In most ranking systems it would seem to me that high ranked players could take high ranked positions while low ranked players would have to work their way up to the high ranks to start taking those posistions.
For example: Ranks 1-100 or 1-50 get normal points for killing eachother and less for killing people below that rank. Ranks 101+ (In any brackets desired) get normal points for their bracket and less for anything outside that bracket. Just because rank 3000 kills rank 1 doesn’t mean rank 1 should lose 200 points. Rank 3000 has to climb the ladder before having the pleasure of taking that seat. (This is simply my opinion. Kinda like boxing where you can’t face #1 until u go thru the rest).
This system is what I would consider a more fair way of ranking (I doubt this system even exists but it would be nice if it did).
I believe it would also require a monthly reset just to keep things fun and interesting. Having a chance at #1 each month seems more entertaining that trying to reach #1 whose been #1 for three months. Even on our current system, monthly resets would keep the server more interesting and dynamic. Seeing the same people with huge amounts of points in the top10 for three to four months becomes stagnant imo.

Honestly I think the current ranking sucks but that is simply my opinion and I haven’t experienced many source ranking mods so I can’t compare. I do remember enjoying psychostats for regular CS but that was ages ago.

Episode 2 has been pushed back 3 times. It was originally set to release last holiday season. Pushed back to Jan. Pushed back to Summer. Now it has been pushed back to Fall 2007.
More than likely it will release at this time due to the competition. This fall will really eat my wallet >.<
