Congrats guys! :D Glad to hear you both are safe and sound, oh and that the gaming world has another to add to the crowd :)

Yeah the game looks like an absolute blast, I’d love to play it some time and have it played at a lan for sure. The demo was a blast, though I haven’t bought it :(

Play Uncharted and never hate a 3rd Person shooter again. Hell, even MGS.

    in reply to: E3!!!! #102081

When the PS3 was released I’ll admit it was terribly overpriced, I didn’t buy my PS3 until I could get my hands on an 80GB for ~$300. Along with that the release titles were admittedly pretty bad, though games like Resistance, Killzone, and Uncharted could keep you busy for a while and were some quality titles. If you were fortunate enough, unlike myself, to get a backwards compatible PS3 then you had even more going for you.

When the Move is released I don’t see it lacking the games, it will have the games that will compete with the Wii and hopefully games like Killzone 3 and Socom 4 coming out soon enough afterwards. Also, could you imagine playing Portal 2 with the Move? Yes please!

@Ephraim: I like your post generally, except the added bits about the new Zelda. I think Nintendo has gone wayyyyy too overboard with wanting Zelda to incorporate the movement controls of the Wii. Sure the hacking and slashing with the Wii-mote will be fun as well as raising a shield and such, but if you watch the trailer you’ll notice that every single puzzle incorporates using the Wii-mote to aim at something, shoot something, and unlock the puzzle. Sure instead of moving an analog stick over to it you have to aim with your hand, but it just seems like they’re trying to do too much with the motion controls. The color schemes to seem to be moving more towards that of OOT or MM, coming back from the “dark” that was TP. My jury is still out on the verdict of the new Zelda atm.

any info on the ps3 move?

Probably much like the PS3 itself, it’ll be over priced, won’t work as advertised, and won’t have many good games until a year or two after it’s released.

The PS3 itself in essence isn’t overpriced. You get a Blu-Ray player (normally $130-150) plus a game console ($150) with a 250gb HD and wireless built in ($400 from MS now) as well as an always popular library of games. The 360’s equivalent of the 250gb HD and wireless built in will be $400 IIRC. Need I mention that the PSN is completely free compared to Xbox Live? Sure there will be a PSN Plus network for those that want to pay, but otherwise free.

The Move is already priced at $49.99 for the basic controller and $39.99 for the controller that attaches to it, so cheaper than the Kinect. Game that are coming out on launch for the Move will be similar to the library of games that Launched for the Wii, a sports title as well as a few other games. The games being developed for the Move that actually look extremely interesting and a blast to play are games like Killzone 3,Socom 4, and the Sorcery game they demoed during the show.

Kinect though looks like it is A LOT of fun and an absolute blast to play with, but I could see where it could go horribly wrong really quick with the movement speed of people, etc.

I have an EVGA 8800GTX so I’m pretty sure its still under warranty, seeing how its an EVGA and they do lifetime.

That’s actually the exact monitor I was looking at, haha.

Every performance chart I see between the 5770 and the 260GTX have the 5770 beating out the 260 by 50+ or so.

in reply to: CS:S Beta #100938

I havent seen assists yet, it would be weird to add assists to CS since you don’t get points per kill, etc.. it just goes up to K/D, etc. They would have to add an entire point system for assists to work. Either way, the beta is pretty fun but it’s still CS to me >>;. Too much BC2 has ruined it! :P

in reply to: CS:S Beta #100902

Yarp, beta for CS:S. Achievements, death cam, etc.. engine change a bit, multicore support, etc

1080p is like 4-5gb per, so I’d get at least a TB in there. HD’s really aren’t that expensive these days, may as well put in something larger so you don’t have to worry about it.

in reply to: Meeting Minutes (April 13, 2010) Discussion #100180

I believe the CL votes and such will be done by the VP of your designated area. He/she will ask for nominations, you can nominate yourself, and then he/she will decide based off of qualifications/etc. Maybe some voting will be done amongst the community?

Looks great guys, good job. Make sure we vote on the LAN dates for the Fall at the next meeting and then get them signed up ASAP! Also, WTB BC2 SERVER >:(

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I’ll be sure to talk to the other execs about them and probably add to/edit our revision before the meeting.

Please also make sure the meeting is transcribed on IRC and broadcasted on teamspeak for those of us that can’t make it to join in and be apart of as well!

So is the Alumni Adviser position just removed in favor of a non-position holding non-voting group of advisers? i like that… seems more efficient. (Until Kuros Bitey and MasterP get in an EpEEn contest)

It was bound to happen, it isn’t something that could be avoided and something SGA has wanted to happen for a while. I believe this constitution was written with MasterP’s involvement so I wouldn’t expect Bitey, Kuros, nor even myself (even though I’m still a student) to have an “epeen contest” about the matter.

Hopefully some of the members from the other organization will see and read this and convince the main body to attend the meeting to provide more feedback as well as their wants and desires.

WTB big happy family once again.

Also, very nicely written and looks fabulous, no disagreeing from me here though Adam Merrill definitely has a point about location of the LAN events being left out/overlooked!

Actually, I’m not ;). My dad’s from New York and my mother’s family is southern, but I have no accent and definitely don’t do anything redneck. I’m more of a Yankee than a Redneck, I’m just not a liberal :).

How is stealing our members not your intention? Just minutes after the meeting Josh and Kazka had a soapbox-style rally to talk everyone into quitting. You think that act helped or hurt this club?

So Josh and Kazka had a rally after the meeting to try to get people to quit and yet people are wondering why their “power” was revoked?

I am new to the forums as a poster but i have stopped in occasionally to see the latest events every now and then and i have been a constant attendee at the meetings and LAN events (both large events and miniLANS). I was at the meeting where this all took place and I witnessed this “new club” of which all the rage seems to be about. There are a couple things i would like to point out.

You seem displeased over this new club but seem to say that you do not want the members of it and accusing them of being pawns. This will push away many people who want the gaming club to suceed but have seen those member as the only ones truly CURRENT, ACTIVE members rather than the alumni and the new hierarchy which are only seen at LANS. I’ve known Shingi for quite some time and I like the guy and all but i do not see any work coming from him or Freezer. I’ve seen the others often and i’ve seen them doing their jobs and picking up slack from others. If you truly do not care about these members occupations why is this a constant rebuttal of treachery. Let them have their fun and continue as you will.

I would like to add that i wish for future xbox360 tournaments to be announced like other tournaments. I was registered but the call was never made so i assume the only people allowed in the the tournaments were the ones jacking it in front of the console all day. Please correct this as i would like to participate in future LANs.

Alex or the7eyesmask which i’m sure you all really know are the same, despite a comment from MasterP or from who i understand is Mitch, immediately began planning for a convention in Georgia that weekend and has since been there. I am seeing a lot of flaming about an implanted spy but i noticed it was not one of the renegades that nominated him and the only other one to step up to the position was BJ, which be honest you all hate on him far too much. I’m sure if BJ had won you would have never given him any power of the position or try to find a way to manipulate him into being your tool. This is based off of what i have seen of your current actions.

I’m sure i will have other recommendations for the survival of this club and while you can choose to ignore them i would like to here what you have to say about the current topics before i continue.

I have heard some nasty rumors about trying to track people down. Don’t bother. I am not, currently, one of the renegades nor is it likely that you know me. My name is just because my true tag was unacceptable by this forum so i made something up on a whim. You can even check that the account was created, although briefly, before these events happened. I was and still am trying to get more involved with club activities.

Under permission from MasterP and others I’m going to add one final reply to this post then leave it locked. This reply is mainly a response to you, Feeddatroll (hence my quote), so if you wish to discuss it further then please go ahead and reply via PM. I’ll try to keep this as anti-derogatory as I can.

First off, welcome to the forums. Since you’ve been lurking for a while without posting, etc then you need to please understand how it looks to those such as myself that have been participating with this club for a while. A new person joining into the fray of a very hot subject looks as though you’re only here on behalf of those in question. I’m glad you’re a constant attendee of the meetings and LAN events and hope you continue to be a participant, though I encourage you to be more active with your participation rather than just a random amongst the crowd.

The reasons as to why most are displeased over the “new club” are probably because we don’t understand the need for a separate club. We aren’t saying we don’t want the members and quite frankly, I personally do want the members to stay and believe that with proper rationale and without acting like 5 year olds things could work out fine and dandy, possibly better. The alumni and “new hierarchy which are only seen at LANS” are actually members who once went to every single meeting they possibly could, as well as the LANS, and are also members that post their thoughts, opinions, criticism, etc all on our forums for us as well as even joining our IRC to let us know. Currently the amount of commuter loungers that have joined our forums looks to be quite minimal to the amount of members we have that either joined via advertising on campus or from our online servers. If many people want the gaming club to succeed, then why is it that members such as Josh, Kazka, Liquid, 7eyesmask, Heeroshin, etc all have turned to form a “new club” instead of taking what seems to be a more responsible track to try and work things out. Shingi and Freezer both have already been working for WEEKS for this club, as Mitch stated prior, and have spent hours of their time getting everything set up, planned, organized, and back on track. The members that you say have “picked up the slack from others” are who? Are you talking about the CL’s that are pretty well active and running things? Yes, that’s what they’re supposed to do.

That’s understandable and I agree with your concern, if your area of expertise and interests are with other tournaments and such are not being announced properly then it is something that should be taken into account. When Adam, Kuros, Bitey, and myself led the club we made sure to promote every single tournament for every single venue, as well as advertise freeplay. If this meant we had to take time out of playing ourselves or paying attention to other things, then that is what was done. Being President at the LAN usually meant not being able to actually play. Your constructive criticism, opinion, and suggestion will be noted I’m sure and hopefully rectified for the future LAN event.

If the7eyesmask immediately began planning to go to Momocon then why is it that he specifically has been one to conspire against the club? His “election” to the Console VP was nothing more than a way for the “new club” or commuter lounge to keep its ties into the Gaming Club. His election was pretty shady, seeing how he’s been a member since ’08 but hasn’t posted a single time. Doesn’t show he has much interest or activity amongst the club where the most discussions take place. We, or at least I, do not hate BJ nor would have denied him power of or for the position. BJ has been a member of the club for a while and has actually provided a lot of us with input and quality information, rather than someone who hasn’t even participated in something as a forum for the club he’s wanting to be an executive for. “Manipulate him into being your tool” by the way? This implies we’ve manipulated others to “be our tool” and those people are doing things that are not of their will and consent, which is a pretty large accusation considering how we’re a sanctioned club and all. If 7eyes can browse /b/, like I’m sure he does (/sigh), then he can easily visit the forums.

Please provide us with any feedback, criticism, etc that you may have. It’s a club, and the club thrives off of its members and what the members want.

Nasty rumors or trying to track people down? The only thing that anyone has “tracked down” is the fact that when Liquid and ManlyMoose were “/b/ trolling” (sorry, most kids don’t even know what a true troll is) they were warned and threatened to be banned from the forums as well as the club. They challenged the executives stating that they could not be banned and that they were not on campus, which was proven false because their IP addresses could be seen quite easily. We don’t “track people down” in any way sort of form.

Please do keep trying to get more involved with the club and its activities!
