This summer I’m looking to upgrade from my 8800GTX to something mid-range but still completely better than my current card, I’m also looking to upgrade from my 19″ monitor to something like 22-23″ or so. I’m looking for opinions for the best monitor sub ~$200-250 or so WITH HDMI and still the best resolution, performance, picture, etc.
The video card I’ve been looking at is the 5770 just because it seems to smash the GTX260, though I absolutely despise ATI’s drivers and most of the time their cards in general. I’ve heard some pretty bad horror stories from ATI and have had a few horror-filled stories from my old ATI cards, but hoping they’re a lot better than before. Plus for $150 I can pick up a 5770 compared to $200 for a lesser performing GTX260 it seems.
I’m also going to put a new HDD in my system but that’s pretty much already been chosen as a 1TB WD Black drive.

im not sure MasterP has cared too much for his 5770… and my gtx 260 seems plenty fast to me but w/e. I mean the old 4870 and 4890 are faster than the 5770.
I have a 25.5″ asus (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236047&Tpk=asus%20vw266h) monitor which I really like and it has HDMI, VGA, DVI, and component, though it is a little over the price you wanted to pay. There is no reason at all you couldnt get a 24″ monitor for the price you mentioned.
I hate my 5770. When it’s behaving it’s fine but I’m constantly having issues with it and none of them are repeatable enough to RMA the card. I would look at getting a high-end GTX260 or GTX275, if nothing else you know they’re always going to be reliably the same performance regardless of the game or driver version.

Nickname will rage because it’s 16:9 (1920×1080) instead of 16:10 (1980×1200) but it’s still a beautiful LCD and is solid for the price.
Also, what’s the make/model of your 8800GTX and is it still under warranty?
I have an EVGA 8800GTX so I’m pretty sure its still under warranty, seeing how its an EVGA and they do lifetime.
That’s actually the exact monitor I was looking at, haha.
Every performance chart I see between the 5770 and the 260GTX have the 5770 beating out the 260 by 50+ or so.
