So App is having a lan for Source and one for 1.6? Lol, weird ;P

in reply to: Early Christmas Present!? #27475

    No thanks.

in reply to: How Was The Lan? #27462

Yeah, someone will have to go through and add them or something to at least the ones of single people and such.

Bioshock got the rating it deserved. I dunno about the xbox version but the PC version was phenominal. One of the best story driven experiences I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing through.

Agreed, even though I felt the ending was a bit rushed and lacked the detail as the first half did.

Also, we saw you at Walmart, Kappa ;P.

Halo 3 actually looks really good, watched the G4 special, have been reading up a bunch, etc. I look forward to playing it Wednesday :)

in reply to: How to convert or capture demos #27442

Start rubbing it in and maybe I’ll start regretting feeling bad about winning two tournaments already and not wanting to win a third ;P. Gotta share the wealth ;P

in reply to: Halo 3 #27416

It is scoring 8.5 and above everywhere I’ve read. It looks to be pretty good so far, I hope it lives up to the hype and reviews though as well.

in reply to: Anyone Playing? #27400

Since the server is new we’ll have to configure it properly and have things set up right, otherwise it isn’t as much fun :(. Once it is set up though :D

in reply to: How to convert or capture demos #27399

Just use fraps. Play the demo and record it in fraps at the same time.

Its up and running, awesome :D. Now we just need to customize it and such ;P.

in reply to: Guess who’s back? #27220

Ah I wondered if that Jackass was the same Jackass from before, welcome back ;P

    in reply to: TF2!!!!!!!! #27206

I has it and holy *edited*, I’m in love. Once Caco’s computer is done he’ll probably be getting it as well, but for now it is awesome.

Krispies’s server is TF2, but yes, we needs to play some together :)

in reply to: Lan flyers/banner #27191

    DG?

We plastered them everywhere they would allow us to and everywhere we could down on lower campus.

in reply to: selling my rig #27186

To be honest $1500 is a bit steep, especially with no monitor and with technology from last (?) year. The only things I really see bumping up the price of your system though are the OS’s, which is a bit silly here on campus as well as for other people.

in reply to: Guess who’s back? #27185

Bout time. How are you doing this semester? Still planning to come up during the Spring? Going to re-up on WoW? :P

By the way, the 8800GTS is a great DX10 card ;P

As i work for redbull now, had the girls show up at our kickoff meeting and they reported to my manager that we wernt really stoked about seeing them. as far as the lan,, i’m trying get them to come up again,, but its not looking good, as they went impressed last visit.

The timing by Red Bull was not so great at the last lan, as stated before. The Red Bull people arrived during a time in which most PC Gamers were involved already in a tournament. I know it was unavoidable and it was unfortunate, but as stated earlier it wasn’t as though we weren’t appreciative.

maby the group of execs going to the app lan will see how they run things and get their eyes opened to what we can be as far as sponsors/infrastructure and community

What? I’ve seen more than enough people who come into our servers who do not even KNOW when App’s lan is. App’s forums were recently redone and wiped clean, they BARELY had 50-100 posts in WEEKS, compared to 50-100 in a day here. App’s server is EMPTY 3/4 of the day while we are FULL 3/4 of the day, ranked in the top 50 for CS and in the top 150 for CS: S. I FAIL to see how we’ve driven this club in the wrong way and FAIL to see how we aren’t doing anything correctly. App has more local sponsors available to them and most of their other sponsors we already have. RedOctane is one of the only large sponsors I see that App has that we do not, and I have voiced many times to send RedOctane an email asking for sponsorship, but unfortunately this was within the 1 month time frame and we would not have gotten their sponsorship.

Sorry but it is in the official constitution… It might be a joke but our sponsors won’t get it and they matter. And you guys might have voted on spending the money but it is not in the minutes…thus did not officially occur (at least according to SGA). And if as Dice said we don’t really have RedBull then why don’t we have Bawls? Just trying to understand that one. ComputerDynamics…he only quit being our sponsor because he didn’t like the person that went in there…don’t know who it was, but I know Tony and that is how he operates. He loved me and Adam and he really liked Dice. He really detested Josh, and I don’t know how he feels about Shane. But if he’s not sponsoring then the person that went in there did so with the wrong attitude and cost us that sponsorship.

Do we send our sponsors the official constitution or the constitution that we have that says that Mitch has to come? We send them to the official one. About the voting not being in the minutes, that’s out of my hands as Trackpad should have put it in there, and I know he counted votes, so I’m sure it was just an honest and simple mistake.

Dice hasn’t communicated with ANY of us about RedBull not being happy with us. This is the FIRST time I’ve heard a single bit about it. Maybe he’s said things to Shane but I haven’t heard a thing, and as acting VP I believe I should be informed as well. If we KNEW RedBull was unhappy with us we could’ve and would’ve asked both companies. As far as I knew we were in good standing with Red Bull, I mean Dice brought it in for the first meeting and it was great! How are we supposed to know and have enough time if no communication is made?

As far as ComputerDynamics, as I said before I just know what I was told. He may not like Shane and he may like him, I do not know.

Whoa now. I paid 10 at the last LAN because I was told it would carry over to the next year. Are you saying I dropped the extra five just for the hell of it then? I’ll be a tad bit displeased if that turns out to be the case.

You’re fine, you won’t have to pay again. What she wanted was to allow people to pay for the 4 LANs at the beginning of the year but afterwards if you did not have a year long membership, that you would have to pay $5 at the next 3 LANs. Instead it was voted otherwise and a member can purchase a year long membership anytime and it will carry over for 4 LANs. Granted her system would be a lot less work and stressful, we wanted it so that people who pay to get in at first to “test” everything out the option to pay for year long membership later, not to mention students that come to Western during the Spring.

That’s fine, it just seemed like you guys blew alot of money on a small amount of prizes. So I was just alittle worried. BTW you guys should have voted on spending money at a meeting and it should have been in the minutes.

As Dice said, we voted. We had a meeting basically specifically for the voting of spending money on prizes.

I hear we lost our first official sponsor, I wonder why that was. Why did we only get sponsored by 2 or 3 companies? The requirement typically is give them atleast 1months notice have at least 50 people for Alienware, (200 people for ATI), Thermaltake didn’t care so long as we posted pictures and a short story of what happened, Josh Schwartz was handling ATD, Bawls was a simple form just tell them how many people you are expecting, etc. Granted, I hope that from the past lans we have continued posting/ emailing pictures and a short story of what happened at the LANS so that we could keep each sponsor happy…It is sort of a requirement to continuing being sponsored. But if you don’t know what the requirements for each are go to the executives thread. Notice the Sponsors thread at the top that I created a long time ago…its all in there. Plus for any new sponsors we are supposed to add them to my post along with any information needed for future people to contact them to continue sponsorship.

As to my knowledge Computer Dynamics did not want to sponsor us anymore because he did not want to pay for something and then donate it to us. If I remember correctly he said he was losing money on us and could not do so anymore. We e-mailed Alienware, Steel, nVidia, ATI, etc all well before the LAN (1+ month). Steel and Alienware responded in kind and since Thermaltake sent us their prizes late at the last lan, we did not want to double up. Josh Schwartz has basically not been apart of the Gaming Club for a while now. He never showed up for meetings and mis appropriately and irresponsibly deleted posts on the forums from users because he did not like their opinions on a matter. We haven’t had ADT as a sponsor in a while. Bawls conflicts with RedBull so we cannot get Bawls, as Dice said.

BTW, I demand this statement be removed from the constitution…”Furthermore, Mitchell Pate must report to the LAN at the discretion of the president.”

On the grounds it is not relevant to anything and let’s say that Mitchell Pate graduates and moves to California or some other state or country, he will want to get on with his life at some point, and future presidents might not even know who he is… THIS IS NOT RELEVANT. Let’s be real people, it doesn’t belong in the constitution. And even if it did, it doesn’t belong where its located. Notice we do have a LAN Event Section…it would go there. HOWEVER, if you have read the constitution you know that it is extremely out of place. IT DOES NOT BELONG!!

I move that we remove “Furthermore, Mitchell Pate must report to the LAN at the discretion of the president.” from the constitution.

Mitch Pate is a good guy and the “movement” about Mitch being put into the constitution was a joke and viewed as one. I do not believe it is in the “official” constitution but I may be wrong, as I often am. Either way, it is being blown up and out of proportions. Sure if it was on the official constitution and shown to the SGA, etc then of course it would be a bad thing.

    ABritt said:

well, I would have to agree, with that statement in the constitution, our club does seem like a joke now to me too, But I was hoping that maybe it could be saved and revived somehow. I guess people really did love Adam…shame he had to graduate. Much love to DICE!!

The Bawls things was a joke…you remimber when we would get both red bull and bawls… BTW do we have red bull as a sponsor?

Dice we are so going to party this weekend!!! Make sure Nicole is going to be there, I miss that girl too. Only privledged people get the invite to the best LAN afterparty so far and guess what you, Loot, and Nicole make VIP!

How is the club a joke because of one little play on Mitch? I fail to see how anything we’ve done has turned the club into a joke, as everything we’ve done and currently are doing is what was being done in the past and is generating a larger club in general. What could we do differently that we are doing now to “save” or “revive” the club if all we are doing is following in your footsteps and following exact steps and making the club grow?

in reply to: How to fix your rates. #27129

Servers allow people to use a cmdrate of 100 because it betters the registry and people’s shots. With sv_pure as well as the cvar’s now, we can set the minimum to what people’s rates go to. We don’t have sv_pure enabled but we have set up the cvars so that people do no longer play at 20/30 default rates but instead now have the rates bumped up to a minimum of 66 cmdrate and I believe 66 updaterate. It only changes the rates to those that are lower than what the cvars have set and if they are higher than the cvars then the server does nothing to the client. These cvars do not cause other players to lag once when they did not before and they do not cause the server to lag at all as well. Many public servers with 100tic enabled have set up these cvars so that registration is at its best, you just don’t realize it. Go into a handful of public servers with default rates of 20/30 and then try changing them after you’ve entered the server, see if your rates aren’t something like 66 or higher afterwards.

Dice what did you mean hope we have money left over for the other 3 LAN’s? Did we not get sponsored? Did we have to go out and buy prizes?

Steel sent us a gracious amount of prizes as well as Alienware but for the amount of tournaments we have we could not split the prizes up evenly nor fairly amongst the tournaments, so we took it upon ourselves to better the club by getting prizes that hopefully will draw in more people as well as make the student body happy by giving them something more to play for.

in reply to: Lan flyers/banner #27127

We put them up all around lower campus =/. For LWood we put them on the doors going in since we couldn’t get into the dorm itself. The UC has them in the flier holder on the entrances but other than that we weren’t allowed to put them elsewhere. We put them on the entrance to the UC coming in from Coulter but were probably taken down. The ones in Dodson I KNOW have been taken down already. There are still some all around the bell tower as well as on miscellaneous light poles. Scott was plastered, we put them on all of the floors by the elevators and some floors up and down the actual halls themselves.

I don’t know about the banner though =/
