Anyone lose any sleep or skip classes because of Brawl yet?Yes. And I take back what I said about R.O.B.!

ParticipantWhat the crap? This is late. And I would imagine it would be settled since Captain Falcon is playing Brawl with me right now…
Useless bumping!TrebuShae
ParticipantSame time would be silly!

TrebuShae
ParticipantAye, really need to know if CoD4 is going to PCs or Consoles, too…
TrebuShae
ParticipantLucario = Mewtwo done right. Ike = Roy done right. Lucas = up smash WILL kill you at 50%. Marth = Marth done right.
And it’s not that I expected R.O.B. to pwn anything, it’s just that this game was made with every intention to balance every character. The most amazing thing I’ve seen so far is heavyweight characters are going to be a viable choice when it comes to tournament play.
TrebuShae
ParticipantThis just in: R.O.B. is terrible.

ParticipantLess tournaments moar free playingses.

ParticipantMost definitely.

ParticipantMelee didn’t have any physics laws. =/

Sucks having to use normal moves doesn’t it?Actually I don’t wavedash in tournaments, and the character I play in Melee has no Wavedash. Peach doesn’t need one.

ParticipantGoing to miss you Oh Malley. I have such large shoes to fill!

ParticipantBrawl is absolutely gorgeous. Still busy unlocking characters. So far Cacophony, Zap, and I have unlocked Luigi, Ness, Marth, Sonic, Lucario, Falco, Ganondorf, Captain Falcon, and Snake. I guess we’re pretty much only missing Jigglypuff (wtf its always first to unlock), Star Wolf, Windwaker Link, Game & Watch, and ROB.
As for balancing characters, Brawl is much more successful at this than Melee. I actually feel like I’m playing an – almost – fighter. But we still have so much to learn!
Oh, and when it comes to customizing stages, this game is so simple to use. Just don’t play with a Wii Remote and Nunchuck. And if I wanted to complain about one character being unfair… it’d be Pit.
I just wish I’d quit trying to wavedash.TrebuShae
ParticipantOh… that’s terrible. And by terrible I of course mean freaking awesome.

ParticipantThis is the reason to get a PS3. Sony did something smart. I love MGS. My avatar is MGS. I’d rather see this on a 360 though. =/

Sorry Richard… I’m a lvl 70 terrorist.

ParticipantI chose 3v3/4v4 because I can definitely see why ffa wouldn’t be any fun for novices. I can just see it now, all of the map exploits and people racing to get the best hiding spot. Well… that’s what I would be doing anyways.
Teams are fun. 2v2 is okay but it can sometimes cause problems, especially if that one person you practiced with decides to NOT SHOW UP. Bigger teams can also bring more players together overall and not leave one person doing all the work (if your partner happens to be not so good at Halo).

ParticipantI’m always bored. And willing. To play games.

ParticipantI think someone just got served.

ParticipantAt last night’s meeting I think we decided that we’d use the PS3 as a paperweight so that we don’t lose the sheets with brackets on them. Just sayin’.
It all seems like Blu-ray is just a neat little extra you get when dishing out the money to get a PS3. I don’t know, it may just be me, but I personally don’t know anyone who has gone out specifically to purchase a Blu-ray player.
TrebuShae
ParticipantLOL I can’t wait until Halo 3 comes out for the PS3.
Double posting is spam. You sir, are a spammer.

Took you 12 minutes to get 116k points? Wtf is that? What’d you go 1 line at a time?Btw, you’re going to be owing me money shortly. My practice in class got 105k and I wasn’t really trying.
I was drunk on DayQuil at the time. Many wrong keys were hit. And don’t talk trash until you’ve actually beaten the score. /wink

ParticipantAre we planning to try out some CoD4 before this meeting, perhaps afterwards? Just wondering since it’ll be a bunch of us already together and such.
TrebuShae
ParticipantI thought this all started over “rigged” brackets… interesting.

ParticipantI totally agree with this. Brawl is supposed to have a much different engine than Melee, which was full of glitches (most unintentional). Matt didn’t even want to run the last Melee tournament, but because I was sickly he kind of had to (I would still like to have Melee at the next LAN, but then again we will end up with even more tournaments…). I plan on getting Brawl the day it comes out, as long as Sylva doesn’t completely run out of copies… which it probably will.
Hopefully I’ll have enough time before April to see what is and is not totally unethical in the game, however the game has already been out for 2 weeks in Japan and they’ve already unearthed a bunch of new technicalities in gameplay.
That being said, I really do hope we don’t see a repeat of the last LAN when it comes to arguments about exploiting the game. I’m addressing this because it will be the first time that a Brawl tourney will be held at the LAN and although you will be aiming all your comments and questions at me, please be patient since it is a first for this game.

ParticipantOkay, look: WAVEDASHING DOES NOT MAKE YOU WIN THE GAME. I wavedash on accident half the time. It is VERY different from what is considered cheating in most PC games, I assure you. SSBM’s physics engine has many many problems and I don’t even consider it a real fighting game. Wavedashing is simply a glitch in the game that allows you to slide across surfaces, and can often cause you to even fall off the edge and lose a life. It does not make you a better player whatesoever, nor is it cheating. I am willing to argue this on the console side. Why? Because I don’t wavedash and can still beat what some of you like to call “pros”.
I am not trying to insult anyone but I think some people are getting a little heated over something that can be easily resolved, but not by “he said, she said” methods. I think its simply a matter of those who are arguing need to actually look up more on what they’re arguing about. It makes things go much more smoothly.

ParticipantMaking a list as we speak… err type. When I’m done I’ll let you know so we can split up the work. I’ll use seductiveness to get more support.

ParticipantI don’t know if the lack of people playing PGR3 was due to the fact that the LAN was considerately smaller than previous ones, but despite that, I think we should have another vote at the next console meeting to either give the title another try or switch to Need for Speed Prostreet. This is simply because no one at the informal meeting was really dedicated to a particular title and no one knew how popular these games would be.
As for two SSBM tournaments… one thing that I’m always for, no matter what game, is trying something new at least once, as long as it’s thought out and not a ridiculous waste of LAN time. At the next LAN I imagine I’m going to be much busier but at the same time I’m willing to hear what other people would like to try (but they’re going to have to actually POST on the forums to let me know). I’m all for keeping people happy, but everyone needs to be aware that executives cannot please everyone.

ParticipantEveryone knows that the final nail in the coffin for HD was that porn went to Blu-Ray. Duh.
I really thought HD would have had a chance when the two came out over a year ago. That was back when I thought anything that had to do with the PS3 would end in fail (i.e., Blu-ray). Oh, wait… I still think that.
