ParticipantAre we planning to try out some CoD4 before this meeting, perhaps afterwards? Just wondering since it’ll be a bunch of us already together and such.

So no more pre-made teams *sad face*not exactly what I was saying. Just that people were complaining of bad brackets, and bad seeding.
I am in the CS dept. I’m sure it couldn’t be too hard to program a randomizer. plus it would be good practice for me.
Granted this is something I was going to bring up for discussion at the meeting, might as well get a start on it here.
As far as premade teams goes. I can understand a complaint that omg, I’m going to be teamed with some random person who I don’t know and never played with before.
Well, yea, thats not cool. but did you check the forums? there was a team formation thread of people looking for teammates.
For those who did not find a premade team, they can pick someone else who doesn’t have a teammate. I was partnered with Nalgenie for GoW. I had never spoken with her before, but big deal. I met her, she met me. We know each others name and face. And even though we got beat fairly bad in the first round, I had fun playing and isn’t that what the LAN’s are supposed to be about?
Could randomize those that don’t have teammates.
Brackets could be randomized by a program. I’m willing to write one specifically for us. I’m willing to donate said program to the club. So that it can be used for all tourney’s for the life of the club.

ParticipantThis has nothing to do with this, but Nalgenie is a complete n00b, j/k but seriously she is hehe
I love you babe.

I’ll try and organize specific play testing sessions, testing out settings and games to get general feedback, input, etc so we can choose a definitive line-up before the LAN.

ParticipantJust as a side note, Oh Malley if you are going to vote in things for the LAN then you need some sort of secretary to make minutes for you, I might be wrong about this but I am thinking that you will need approval from either me or Kuros on this, not really sure I need his input. If your just discussing it and then preparing it for the club meeting on what to suggest and vote on there then by all means ignore everything I just said

For the most part, it’s going to be prep for the next general meeting. Most of the talks of next LAN are getting ideas for what we want, be it settings, games, etc. and then we’ll play test them to confirm. As far as the other issues go, I’m letting the console people voice their opinions on them and help straighten things out before the general meeting.

Participanti got class till 7:15… i’ll be late at best but i’ll try to make it
February 18, 2008 at 12:24 pm #37338Oh Malley
ParticipantI’ll try to take minutes as well, just in case to vote on something in general. It’d be a good idea to do so just to get in the habit since I have a feeling that our own individual meetings will be just as big and just as important.

ParticipantWas thinking on this today. Checked my mail yesterday and there was stuff about room selection in there. Perhaps we should think about all getting in the same dorm/hall. This would allow us to get together for game nights easier. Seeing how Falcon says he’s not gonna come back next year. I’d like to get a roomy lined up for next year. Or if we could get a suite in Central, 3 suite mates.

Participanti can be all about coding a randomizer if you need one, i have made several
February 19, 2008 at 4:52 pm #37580Chupathingy
ParticipantI will (hopefully) be moving into central for next fall.
February 19, 2008 at 6:18 pm #37588Anaya

In the interest of keeping the peace, I’d just like to say the issue has pretty much resolved itself. Instead of of discussing it, I sugest we have a group hug.
February 20, 2008 at 1:59 am #37651Thor
ParticipantThats good to hear, the resolving part at least

ParticipantJust had a superb idea. Or at least I think so. Having grudge matches against the communities top players to form “dream teams” so to speak.
Games and Formats:
Halo 1 – 2v2s
Halo 2 – 2v2s and 4v4s
Halo 3 – 2v2s and 4v4s
Gears of War – 2v2 and 4v4s
Call of Duty 4 – 4v4s
SSBM – 2v2s
Generally it would be a best of 5 maps. The 2v2s would be slayer only for the shooters. SSBM would just use normal competitive settings. For 4v4s, (excluding Gears), it would be a mix of objective and slayer. The community itself could vote its top players for each game. This would just promote recognition for individuals as well as have a fun contest within the community itself. We could do this on a weekly basis, bi-weekly, or monthly.
Granted – I’m not going to force this if the community says it’s a bad idea or isn’t interested. This is just an idea I had today.
February 20, 2008 at 6:30 pm #37745Shingi
ParticipantTotally interested

ParticipantBring on the frag fest
February 21, 2008 at 5:59 pm #37869tyr
Participantdont see why not. Need some sort of reason to keep playing if it just aint for the fun of it. Competition for the most part has always been good.

ParticipantLast night was actually my first trip to The Cats Den. There was this weird arcade machine with a lightgun and real-motion video. It was almost exactly like this game I used to own on the 3DO, Mad Dog McCree. Yes, I owned a 3DO.
