Look, I know people who are pros at Smash. They have nothing to brag about. There is one guy here who has repeatedly came up to my dorm just to brag and beat Matt and I at the game, but I’m not going to plaster his name on this forum because that’s just unnecessary.
So what if they’re bragging about winning money? Do you think that means they really are? They brag because they have nothing better to do here. If someone randomly shows up at this school who is fairly well at the game, they flock over to that person. If they were “pros” like they claimed to be, they wouldn’t even show up at the LANs because they’d be in actual ranked tournaments.
The best thing to do is just to have fun and simply ignore those kinds of people. I know braggarts are really annoying and all, but I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s more fun just to take pleasure in the fact that they’re making a good time into a stupid competition to prove themselves to people who couldn’t care less.
Kranchan won Wii Bowling. Matt won Mario Kart 64.
And I’d like to point out that no one at the LAN playing SSBM is a pro. These claims make me giggle, but I’ll say no more because I didn’t show up until after the tourney.
Also, if you have any questions or discretions on these tournaments and how they’re set up you can take them up with me, as technically I was the one who was supposed to be making sure the Nintendo tournaments went well. Matt was just trying to do what he could on short notice since I got sick, so I think people should just be a little more appreciative of who makes an obligation to keep the LAN tourneys going on time.

Don’t try shortcuts unless you use them regularly. It’s hit or miss. Miss and you lose… unless everyone else sucks.

I’m also bringing – besides Mario Kart 64 stuffs – my PS2 w/2 dualshocks (just in case) and Guilty Gear XX Accent Core. OMG WE HAS GG.
Nintendo doesn’t really have any rights to James Bond… just games about him. So that’s probably a never.

oh my loooard I have played so much Guilty Gear XX and 3rd Strike (Eddie and Ibuki, holla holla). Oh Malley, you’ve just made me very sad. Unfortunately I have neither of these games. I’ve probably spent $100+ on a rare GG arcade machine back home, and an old friend and I used his modded PS2 to play a Korean copy of GG. The Nexus has one of the games, but it’s the really crappy one that came out in America.
Has anyone seen the new Guilty Gear game for the Wii? I heard it was pretty awesome.

I support the act of gambling on these tournaments. It would bring in some extra cash to buy prizes with.
Nobody should be fighting. This is a silly thread. I can’t believe I started a popular thread. lawl. And to answer AiR, I usually switch between half of the roster (actually I REFUSE to play as Yoshi or Roy) but I’ve done well with Pikachu and Zelda/Sheik in the past LANs. I used to hate Peach but I think I’ll play as her at the next one. Or maybe… Ice Climbers.

Oh, Matthew, I do hope you play as Ice Climbers again at the LAN. We train so ardently. I want to learn how to talk smack to you more efficiently, because I have to bite my tongue when I’m the girl who ends up embarrassing men whom she does not know.

It’s kind of funny that even leaks contain Photoshop crap. Yeah, I don’t believe that “Star Wolf” thing either, and the caption under it says something along the lines of “Urufu” (straight up Japanese 102 there for ya). That was Fox’s group, I believe…. errrm yeah. What really interests me is the whole Taboo thing. I have no clue what that is.
Arguably most of the characters that were left out were either too much of a clone, have a similar replacement (i.e., I’d like to think Lucario plays just like Mewtwo… he’s just an updated ver.), or were not popular enough because, yes, tournament popularity can do wonders for a character.
I don’t know how many people actually do care, but Ephriam dear I am willing to debate the game with you.
Ice Climbers are fantastic, unique, and have a cult following. Jigglypuff simply stays because she’s an original. It’s been said that Lucas plays differently from Ness. Marth is back because he’s awesome (Roy was just so low tier that it wasn’t even funny… same as Mewtwo. Luigi isn’t a clone at all and has different move sets, just like Windwaker Link.Falco, however… ugh. I just hope they make him not so cheap.
AND YAY FOR POKEY. It’s also bad that I own a R.O.B. It never worked. Just like my Power Glove.
Oh no Liam, it’s fine. This name currently matches most of my other logins, including IRC. Also, since I pretty much live next door to Matt and we play Smash religiously, he’s informed me that he doesn’t want to run the tourneys anymore… but I’m really really wanting to do so. Thursday sounds like it’s going to be great. Can’t wait to start getting more in order.
