newrayzParticipantit’s not that a wall is wrong. It’s just that its pointless. Undocumented workers are still going to get into the country, along with tons of drugs. Best thing to stop these cartels is take away their main profit. Legalize it man!!!! It puts lots of cash back into our pocket, while at the same time, hurts the drug cartels by taking cash out of their pocket.

The New Deal was a complete and total failure. The vast majority of it’s provisions were unconstitutional but FDR bullied the Supreme Court into allowing them by threatening to expand the court to 12 members and “pad” it with justices sympathetic to his agenda.WW2 ended the depression. The war alone dropped unemployment from 14% to less than 2%.
can you watch fox news any more closely?
it was not a complete failure. We got in the war what year? 1941? The unemployment was at 8%…
1933 unemployment was at 25% also the same year New Deal started
1934 unemployment at 16.0%
1940 unemployment 9.5%
1941 unemployment 8.0%
the time from when the new deal was started, to the beginning of the war, unemployment was reduced by 15 percentage points.
but i’m sure you’ll say those numbers would have reduced more quickly if the new deal wasn’t in place
even though Hoover a few years before with laissez-faire viewpoints failed at doing anything to help the situation. Trickle down theory, failed too. Hoover’s leave it alone policies did nothing..
WW2 definitely brought us out of the great depression, but I can’t buy the idea that the new deal was a total failure.
Your almighty leader Ronald Reagan admired FDR and got a job because of the New deal…you sure you want to say it was a complete failure? rofl

All I can say is wow.I was saying this months ago. We have been so worried about whats happening overseas, we forget that some extremely dangerous *edited* is brewing right below our noses. These guys aren’t going to go down quietly either. They have big guns and missiles. They have hired mercenaries, Los Zetas, ex paramilitary soldiers, mexico is *edited*ed.

Where is Blade when you need him!!!

I am already aware of all that. A combination of disease, rapid immigration, and the technological superiority of the colonists assured the destruction of the Indian tribes’ cultures. It just kinda *edited*es me off how some people characterize the founding of the country as a series of attrocities without any cause for celebration. In summary: Pocahontas was the worst movie Disney Animation Studios made, with the possible exception of Home on the Range.
i walked out of pocahontas back when it was in theatres. I stopped watching disney movies after that crap lol

Without doubt there were genocidal *edited*s who commited attrocities against the Indians, but I’m just saying that a lot of people have turned those rare (and admitedly horrible) incidents into inaliable proof that America was founded on the suffering of natives. From what I’ve heard over the years, the role of disease has been downplayed and the malicous actions of colonists have been overstated while the attrocities commited by Indians against colonists and other Indians have been erased from history. One of my favorite quotes on the subject:
“The exhibit points out that disease was the chief cause of suffering after European contact. Therefore, horrors that beset tha Ancient Americans following 1492 would have happened if the Nina, Pinta, and the Santa Maria had been manned by Jimmy Carter, the Dalai Lama, and Bono.” –P.J. O’Rourke
Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies

the title speaks for itself, but you ought to read it. It basically answers why the colonists in all of the Americas succeeded and natives failed.

The key word there is “intelligent.” A few years ago HBO ran a mini-series about Wounded Knee with the tagline “In the late 19th century, the U.S. government waged a systematic campaign to exterminate American Indians–and nobody seemed to care.” It won an Emmy.HBO Films. It’s basically a movie. Don’t believe everything you see in the movies. duh
and since when were Emmys and HBO mini-series equated with intellect or historical accuracy?

it has been set aside in favor of a propagandic theory that the US Military held a policy of extermination towards the Indians. They didn’t, although there were several unjustifiable incidents of attrocities. That is not true at all. I don’t think one intelligent person would believe we were trying to “exterminate” the Indian population. But I do believe some individuals had private agendas to get rid of the natives any way they saw fit. Like major said look at Andrew Jackson. You are right in the fact that disease is what did the most damage. Disease IS the favorable theory on why the native population dwindled. Disease is the main reason every new world conquest ended the way it did (along with guns and steel).
What was messed up about the whole deal wasn’t the fact we killed a bunch of Indians. It was the back-stabbing, the lying, the false promises, that were so tragic. And probably more of the reason why a Native American would not like the US.
we sure can derail a thread faster than a kid in the special olympics

List just one.If the Native Americans could do anything about it, I bet they would do something to get back at US. They got screwed more than anyone here really. But other than that we have been pretty good at not getting into other countries cool aide to much.
Although I don’t condone what happen in 9/11 or any terrorist attacks for that matter, you can’t deny the fact that there are different point of views in the world. To say that any other viewpoint is wrong, while America’s is 100% right is kind of foolish to me. I think the validity of one’s argument is typically based on how rational it is.
Unfortunately Game Over there is nothing you can say to justify what happen on September 11th. And there is no rational argument that exists to justify such a horrible thing. I’m not bashing you GameOver, but until you can provide some unknown rational base for what you said, I’ll have to agree with everyone else, that statement is retarded lol.
newrayzParticipanthow about everyone stop harassing gameover for something he said however many threads ago. So he said it, there are alot of people who say alot of things, however extreme. There is no sense in jabbing at it, just ignore it.

newrayzParticipantThis is not how you solve a problem. If anything this gives people an excuse to waste more energy, because they are doing the “right” thing and conserving energy for that one hour. woopidy-doo. It should be Earth YEARS…not Earth Hour.
1 hour won’t make a difference, people need to make permanent changes, or eventually we won’t have anything to change.

Nice, I know where Katy is…we kicked yalls butt in football a couple years ago. That is if you went to Katy HS. I went to Alief Taylor HS. We ended Katy’s 42 game win streak, only to lose in the playoffs. I snapped the ball on the game winning field goal. Ah, memories…
Rocket Bob is from Htown as well.
It’s not surprising though, Houston is alcaPWN.

newrayzParticipantI have an issue with the whole “war” in star wars.
So this civilization a long long time ago, in a galaxy far away, is so advanced, it has evolved sentient beings, multicultural solarsystems and planets trading with each other, advanced weapons and technology, and even a huge starship capable of destroying planets. But when two populations of the galaxy duke it out in a galactic battle, they use old school red-coat tactics. They did this more in the new ones than the old. I guess for the effects. I was also baked when I thought about this, also had to write it down before I forgot lol.
