So what kind of pricetag are we talking about? Too early to speculate? With those numbers, the fact that it’s the next gen, and from what people are saying about the controller (costing 100+ bucks), is this *edited*er going to be like 700-800 dollars?

And now the Christians are fleeing the country en-mass. Just yesterday Egyptian army APCs rammed through a crowd of Christian protestors, killing any that couldn’t get out of the way. A number of churches have been destroyed by “ultraconservative Islamists” and they routinely break into the homes of Christians and kill all who live there. If they were “fed up” with Mubarak I can’t imagine how they feel about the replacement regime…

As you already know the media has blown all of this way out of proportion. The muslim and christian relationship in Egypt was already in conflict way before these protests started. They put that off to the side to get rid of Mubarak and now are back at it again. I agree with you, now that Mubarak’s regime is gone the christians in that country are having a harder time. The way you describe it though, it’s as if there is a genocide and exodus going on (6 million people are christian in Cairo alone). My dad lives over there, he works with the coptic christians, lives in a neighborhood full of them, hell his driver is a christian. From what I’ve heard from him, it’s not as dramatic as it seems. Christians and muslims are both protesting in droves now because of the army’s abuse of power. The army knew what they were doing from the start, with Mubarak out the way they can control.

i dont know about libya, but the egyptian protests were initial started by a facebook post by a google marketing manager. Now unless he is somehow tied to the muslim brotherhood, what else you got?

You have it all wrong with the Egyptian example. The general population as a whole was fed up with the whole regime. Coptic christians were just as present as the muslims in that case. I won’t deny the muslim brotherhood had a hand in the protests i’m sure, but they weren’t the political faction behind that movement. the whole country was fed up, muslims and christians.

have had my steam account since 04…haven’t been hacked once. Not that i know how to pirate, but the convenience, cheapness, and user-friendliness valve offers, why would you want to? Only issues i’ve ever had was problems either on my side (like forgetting my password or forgetting to update my credit card) or developer side for not getting with the program and making their games more user friendly. 90% of my games are on steam, by no means do i think i’m the majority, but I think it’s safe to say steam has a pretty good grip on this issue.

Why should kids that young even be introduced to the concept of class warfare?

Class warfare matters the moment you are born. But besides that, I agree with the lesson you took from the story. I just think its a lesson that is much more effective when you include a more complex idea like the authors. You are promoting thinking, at a much higher level. Nothing wrong with layering like that, it’s actually an effective way to promote learning.

This is why I can’t be a democrat. A story with a real and fundamental lesson that applies throughout someones entire life, from elementary school to retirement, is suddenly not P.C. because of the message is presents. We certainly can’t have people planning ahead and working hard all their life, they might become successful and that’s just not fair…

    <_<

So people that work hard make brick houses? What about people that work hard and make cheaper *edited*tier houses cause the brick is too *edited* expensive?

See what we’re doing here? Twisting a dumb *edited* story for nothing..

But besides all that, the second article implies the guy wants to reform the story, make it more PC. Yet if you actually read his article all he says is:

“The best approach is NOT to put down such beloved tales and refuse to read them…but to pose questions after.” As in, ask a question and let the kids come to their own conclusion.

    here is the video:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hd_OJmTL3jk

you telling me you can’t hear the siren from that house? Nor can you hear the cops yelling? (although I cannot make out what they are saying)

If the wife said she saw them before they broke in, how the hell do you not know those guys are SWAT? Idk, i still am disgusted at how it went down, but this video may help their case a little.

Yeah, post a link to that vid.

The sheriff’s office has changed their story on this at least 5 times already and been caught in at least a half dozen lies, it wouldn’t surprise me if this is another attempt to avoid the inevitable wrongful death lawsuit or distract the ongoing DoJ investigation.

i saw it on the news as I was getting ready for work on friday…i can’t seem to find it. Anyway the video doesn’t show much, but you can hear the sirens in the background, along with 3 or 4 cops unloading right at the doorway. You can’t see in the house because the camera is adjusted to the light outside and you can’t really make out what they are saying, but it was like maybe 5 seconds in between them breaking the door open to them mowing that guy down.

update on this story: The SWAT team released helmet cam video of the raid. They weren’t all to blame for this…that stupid wife saw them roll up with there sirens blazing in a big black van, jump out of the car, how do you not know what a SWAT team looks like. If she told her husband “there are cops at the door” rather than “there are people with guns at the door” it might have been a different ending.

Neither card is worth the price. Neither card is required to get acceptable framerates in today’s latest and greatest games.

IDK what you’ve been offered for the 5970 but when newegg stopped selling them they were around $600 and 6990 should be around $750.

If you actually care about what you’re throwing money at, you can get acceptable framerates, not the absolute BEST but still good enough to enjoy, with a $300 6950 or $200 GTX560.

I figured they were both overrated and overpriced, but so is the Macbook Pro, Hybrid cars, and brand named Polos and I got all of those. Yes I know, I’m a sucker, but i see it this way, it cost more, i use my credit card more, pay everything on time, and my credit score goes up. 820 pretty *edited* good score for a sucker :P

anyway i got it for a tad over 300 bucks. comparing just those two, is there any real difference in performance? Obviously the 6990 is better, but my question is how much better exactly? i’ve looked at some comparisons, and the 6990 runs cooler, has a lot more places to plug *edited* in, yet is slightly larger than it’s predecessor. it’s more curiosity than anything.

i get in max maybe an hour – 2 hours after work, 3 times a week. Kids drive me crazy though, some days i come home, eat and crash. Try to work out too. No time anymore. The time i do have i’m either on the xbox or watching netflix. Summer is in 5 days though, and I have 10 weeks off paid vacation. oh the joys of being a teacher. :)

here is advice from an old Wow player. If you haven’t typed /played already, do it. If the amount of time doesn’t depress the *edited* out of you, you must not have a conscious. Wow lost it’s “wow” factor a long long time ago…i would say drop it and move on, but that’s just me.

hypothetically speaking, say you play only 4 hours a night, 5 times a week. anyone who seriously plays wow, plays on average more than that i’m assuming, but for hypothetical 4 hours should work. In a year you’ll have wasted 43 and a third days sitting playing the same game. bump that time up 2 hours (6 hours average a night, 5 nights a week.) that’s 65 days wasted a year sitting playing the same game. Let’s just say you spend 20 weeks of the 52, playing 8 hours a day on the weekend. That would be an extra 13 days on top of the 65. Not to sound like a mom but the game is designed to consume your life. Hell people have died playing this *edited* lol
