ParticipantI’d be a lot more likely to play on a gungame server and so would kalia.

ParticipantWhat Nickname says works wonderful. You are playing with 4 people that you’ve never teamed with before usually and a lot of times they don’t even know how to play the game. Need a free pass round to get the feel of everyone and so I can warm up the rocket launcher. After that, you are pretty much free to do whatever as long as we don’t have a tie

ParticipantKaren and I are waiting to get our PS3 before we buy this game. She did download the Xbox demo though.

And so it ends? Lets not beat this horse anymore…You ignored votes from the general meeting where one game clearly got more votes than another. Doesn’t the constitution say it’s your job to ensure that voting is done accurately? You continue to fail as president. So begins the end…

ParticipantThe idea was to give them the power to create their own committee. That way they had more people helping them do what they felt needed to be done. It was not formed to override meeting votes by segregating part of the club to sway them.

Obviously the president of the club has approved any action taken so this issue is over. If further concerns on this topic need to be expressed do it at the next meeting. The console events at the up coming LAN will either succeed or fail and that will be the best data you can ask for. What’s the point of bringing it up at meeting if the votes at the meeting mean nothing?

ParticipantIt’s his (Bitey’s) job to ensure the voting is fair/accurate etc. If he’s ripping votes, something needs to be done.

what i meant is, to rent a room, one not quite as big as the Grand room, maybe the Catamount room? Then we just do it like a normal LAN, order pizza and stuff, just hang out and have a good time. Unfortunately, i’m a freshman and i dont quite know how the room reservations work yet.Room Reservations are the easy part, you just go tell Jill Lindsay that you want a room and it’s for the gaming club. if it’s not a meeting, it has to be paid for. you also have to meet power requirements (it’s not easy feeding 20+ machines that want an average of 450 watts of power). also, pizza and drinks/chips are paid for by residential living. There are a lot of factors that go into a LAN, but they would not be hard to overcome as long as you go through the normal channels. Food would be a big thing (go downstairs and get some chikinz, problem solved) but power would be your main issue. you’d have to use the gaming clubs power box and you’d probably be in the Multipurpose room. also got to get a switch from networking and that switch has to be configured for the event. like i said, a lot of stuff goes into the events. if i wasn’t in raleigh, i’d be down with it.

Oops… what i meant to say is, all the TF2 players on campus and in the surrounding area/in the club.I would host something if my upload didn’t suck major balls. The powers that be are too retarded to set something like that up for us off campus people. Besides, you can’t have a LAN over the internet anyways. Kinda makes it a WAN at that point…Maybe you could figure out a way to make up some teams and we could password the server and scrim or something. If u wanted to do mini tournaments to flaunt the epeen (no prizes). I’m down for that, any chance i get to own nickname/kip is good with me.

LIES!i am the best medic!
If you are at the LAN, I’m gonna laugh when you start crying at how many times she kicks your *edited*. She is the best medic in TF2, hands down. Last medic that talked *edited* went up to her after the LAN and said “Wow, you really kicked my *edited* back there”.

ParticipantI mean like what do consoles need? A different room, a different part of our current room? Headsets for the tvs/consoles…etc etc.

Second I left that meeting early bc I was upset at some of the stuff said about making a console club or making the computer gamers go to another room, and dont even try to play it off as some joke because the manner in which it was said was dead serious. Yeah I get upset with how we get shafted on space and power bc of them I mean hell we are a growing section and we need more room, you dont need a whole table for a laptop, people inthe console area are sitting on top each other during tournaments. If the new console executives believe that they can form their own “console gaming club” it goes to show how far they think into things. How in the world are you going to pay for all that pizza? How in the world are you going to buy additional chips and drinks on top of that? Everything is set up and geared for the club as a whole so if consoles really think they can split, by all means go for it. You’ll come crying back after you can’t even get one LAN off the ground. I had already proposed reserving both the Grandroom and the Multipurpose room for the LAN events so that the consoles would have the entire Mutlipurpose AB room to themselves but was promptly shot down by the retards that currently run the club. I can understand how you are upset about space and I even tried to get you additional space as I just mentioned. If you believe you are getting skimped or whatever you want to call it, you need to be bringing these issues up in the executive council. As console Pres and Vice Pres you two count as executives so splitting the club when you actually have some say in how it’s set up is really stupid. You need to demand additional space and you need to make sure that you get that space. When I was president there was not a single thing that Oh Malley wanted that he did not get if it was in any way shape or form in my power. If the current staff is unwilling to compromise to help promote what is now the largest portion of the gaming club, you need to get some new executives in there. Don’t split, just reorganize and work with what you already have. I still believe that it would be in the best interests of the growth of the club for consoles to get the Multipurpose Room so that they have the space, networking, and power that they need to run their event in a more productive and FUN manner. If the executives can’t see this, then they are failing to meet the mission of the gaming club.
Besides, I don’t want to sit around and listen to somebody beat the *edited* out of the Rock Band drums for the entire frakking LAN event.
Why not go down there where you can bang and sing all you want. You can dance to your hearts desire on DDR all you want and not one single PC gamer will *edited* about nor will they make you stop so that the PC people can hear. I would gladly walk from the Grandroom to the MP room to own up some Wii Bowling. I don’t see that massive long walk down a single staircase as being too terribly exhausting or inconvenient for myself and I’m sure others agree. Believe me, I’m all for the growth of the consoles and hell, I was a leading part of the initiative to unleash the consoles and give them more power and voice in the overall club. I’m not anti-console and I am on your side believe it or not. I just think that you need to make sure that you are adhering to the standards put in place at the general meetings (which take priority over console ones) and work with the general club instead of against them.Kuros

so here is a question to the PC guys. So if me and a bunch of people who are hardcore console gammers came to a meeting and all voted for some random PC game that we liked to play and it took the spot of one or two of your usual games wouldnt you be mad? would you be like “this isnt fair b/c we are the ones who play these games competitivly and put the time we put the time into making these tournaments good.” The Console meeting was for those people who actually cared about what happens during the console portion of the LAN. I myself told atleast 4 or 5 people to come that didnt just for the fact that they themselves were just playing the PC games. Now i get where you are comming from about Votes at the main meeting but honestly i know most of the console gamers didnt vote for the PC games to be played b/c its not a big deal to us. But when the console stuff comes up the PC players just voted for casual games that yall probably dont even play that much. So how come when we want to put the games we all decided on at the console meeting that no PC people were at we get yelled at? We all just are thinking about what would be the most fun for our type of gamer. What you are doing is segregating the gaming club into two different sections. You need to realize that you are part of a bigger organization and that the overall organization is the law. Think of Walmart where you have a department manager and a store manager. Store wide policy overrides department policy and the store manager’s word is law over the department managers. Consoles are a department of THE GAMING CLUB. It’s not the console club and it’s not the PC club. Both are sections of a larger piece and both must adhere to the rules that that larger piece has put into place. The votes at the general meeting are THE LAW. YOU CANNOT OVERRIDE THESE VOTES BECAUSE YOU WANT TO OR THINK IT’S BETTER. Your job at this point is to cater to the games that were voted upon AT THE GENERAL MEETING.

And as far as the polls go, it could be put on the registration sheet and made manditory that way we actually get mroe imput for the LANs.Mandatory won’t work people want to be able to have choice and not feel obligated by things. It makes something more enjoyable when you don’t HAVE to do it. I would hand them out as people are leaving, this way you can ask “what do we need to do differently” rather than “what do you want done.” You are much more likely to get answers that aren’t tailored to individual players this way. You’ll get more of the same responses over and over if there was a problem that was really significant.

has the poll thing ever been done before? We’ve done plenty of polls in the past, and they are generally successful but it doesn’t solve the problem that you have at this LAN. Also, handing out polls is a good time to PUSH THE MEETINGS ON PEOPLE THAT WANT CHANGES! Remember that, use every opportunity you have as a tool to make our family bigger.

So your going to tell me that the people who come to the LANs, the people that we get our money from to help run the this dont matter if they show up to one meeting? Thats just plain ignorance to me.You have a lot to learn about administration.
This club was founded and designed around growth and recruitment. The club continues to grow despite mentally retarded executives and continues to bring people to the university because they have managed to adhere somewhat to the overall design of the club. Are you telling me that after 2 weeks of experience and ZERO LANs under your belt you are already smarter than over 4 years of experience and well over 10 LANs?

No you didn’t. You limited engys and scouts. App had the 1 class limit and that’s why I adopted it, cause it worked so well there. And what didn’t work about limiting only scouts and engineers? No other class with 3 people rushing really turns the tables on the other team, including heavys and soldiers. You can stop 3 soldiers fairly easy and you can stop 3 heavys fairly easy. Same with demo, medic, and most definitely pryos and snipers. OH GOD 3 SNIPER RUSH!!!!!!! SAVE US!!!!!!!!!

ParticipantBy not coming to meetings those people agree to the terms of the LANs that they are attending AS IS. If they really have that big of a problem with the selected games, they need to be at the meetings. If they don’t want to do that, they accept the LAN for what it is and need to STFU. By not listening to the votes at the general meeting you are turning of the people that actually care about the event. The people who were willing to drop what they were doing and come to a meeting to make the event better. It is not your job to over ride what the population voted for because you believe it will be more popular. It’s your job to listen to those votes and make sure that those games that were voted for are ran as smoothly and enjoyable as possible. People that are having fun and attend meetings bring friends with them. People that come by and aren’t going to meetings are at the event to win prizes and flaunt epeens. LISTEN TO THE VOTES, YOU CANNOT OVERRIDE THEM AND IF THE PRESIDENT OF THE CLUB LETS YOU, SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG HERE. (Not that something wasn’t seriously wrong anyways.)

ParticipantMach4, Mach4, and for the finals Mach4. In all seriousness Mach4 is a great map for small teams of 5v5. I decided the 1 player per class limit so you’re welcome for that. The other two maps are up in the air but they need to be fast paced, TEAM ORIENTED, and unlikely to end in a stalemate with the class limitations. The thing about arena is that it takes away from the team aspect and we are declaring winners by teams instead of individuals. With arena maps everyone is trying to be the hero and it takes away from the “we need to work as a team to do this” aspect of the game.

ParticipantDo it the way karen did. Put all the names in a random name generator and click generate until we get fairly even teams. I thought the way she did it was perfect.

I had to think about this but guys I have a very serious problem with what went down here. It is the duty of the club to play the games that are VOTED to be played; not the games that a select few want to play. Now which is a better representation of the club: the 13 people at the console meeting or the almost 50 at the general club meeting? Now if you want to add additional games, those should be based purely on the number of votes that each game received; as its already been said, both Mario Kart Wii and Wii Bowling received more votes than GH3 and SC3. Of course if you wanted to up to another tournament, GH3 would be an obvious choice because it received the next highest # of votes, etc.I could argue this stuff all day but it all comes down to this: If you guys are going to go and decide the games without the entire club’s input, that’s fine (we would need an amendment to the constitution) but DONT waste the club’s time in the general meeting to vote in games if you aren’t going to adhere to those votes.
The turn out for Wii Bowling/Mario kart is generally 2-3x that of GH3 or Gears War and probably greater than the two put together. This was probably reflected at the original meeting. I don’t know how you plan to “override” the general meeting votes, but that’s not what the Console P/VP positions were created for. I should know, I created them.
