I guess the issue of being blind to the issue is an issue that cannot be resolved.

But you will never truely resolve anything for a communal space by only seeing from one or a limited perspective. The sadest part is that there are two sides and both are pretty much reflections of each other, the rule just serves to benefit one group of people while making life harder on another when an Admin chooses to do so. The game isn’t perfect so I guess the rules don’t have to be either.

But frankly I don’t trust the loop-hole of allowing Admins to interfere with clans on a whim, as had been happening, which brought around the retaliation of as far as I know one individual, which then leads to arguements and strife and then the resolute impression that Admins now have totalitarian power when dealing with clans, specifically DcPN which represents a good sized portion of the active playing community.

Yes as you say, you can’t ban tags, nor can you moderate clans without tags, nor social circles which dominate and upset the team balances far more than clans have or will.

It’s WCUGs place to choose who they support. I guess according to this rule being used by some as an anti-clan device, I would be wrong to assume they support their public community as a whole or that they in one way support any part of it. Obviously according to what you say WCU Gaming supports its non-affiliated individuals which is most likely the servers minority, over their affiliated ones. And anyone in a clan will have to forgo their individual rights they were previously allowed, unless they’re sneaky and wear no tags or do not declare clan affiliation in which case stacking is fine. Because all too often its an Admins team that gets stacked, and not all admins are as good as Goat and the like.

Some Admins use loop-holes too. Some Admins like to “… don’t see …” when it benefits them and seemingly see more than anyone else when when things don’t go their way.

If Rules allow such things to happen, then they’re no longer rules, they’re just become officially recognized excuses.

I am not being blind to the issue, I’m just stating that there is no changing of it due to the implications that would be taken into effect if we allowed clans to stack.

The admins are kept on a leash, and a tight one at that. Anything that they say and/or do is kept on log files that are checked regularly for any abuse. Admins are allowed to use their own judgment when it comes to clans stacking, ghosting, etc. If a clan shows up with 3+ members then they are to be split proportionally so to prevent ghosting to the best extent that we are able to. Clans (or teams) are viewed typically as better players because they’re on that team, and while this is not the case most of the time, it still brings views about the server and whomever runs and owns the server back to those that run and own the servers. Our admins don’t have “totalitarian” power when it comes to the server. Because of the way our club is founded, the executives are the head admins and are the ones that make the decisions whenever they are in the server. When an executive is not present then the admins are law. We don’t just accept anyone to become an admin for our servers and those that screw up and turn out to not be such great admin choices are revoked of their administrative powers. Now when concerning DCPN, true they are a large populous of our server. Why? Because they all first started playing and stayed on our server. They were there when we split up the earlier clans, such as aCe and whatever team blgx had. They knew the rule and agreed and asked for us to split up the clans when they stacked, and now that they are a team, they need to abide by this same very rule they wanted enforced when they weren’t in one.

People do not forgo their individual rights when they enter our server and not one single person is supported and affiliated with the gaming club unless they are an executive, an on-campus student with administrative rights, or an admin that we approve. Anyone that becomes an admin must read and agree to the rules we have stated for admins and must be a part of our community. Those that play in our server have the choice whether to read the MoTD which includes our rules and then thusly abide by them or not. If they come in and decide to not agree to our rules then justification ensues and the issue is handled by our admins or executives. By clicking the “OK” button whence upon entering our server, they forgo the ability to do ANYTHING but play the game and abide by our rules. The rules aren’t complex, the rules aren’t hard, and the rules are extremely simple to follow. If the clans wish to not wear their tags and play together, then if the teams are properly balanced and both sides have an equal chance of winning, then that is fine. If they decide to remove their tags, ghost, and unbalance the teams then appropriate action will take place.

If admins are using “loop-holes” to better themselves, their score, or something else then please inform any of us either on the forums, a PM, an IM, or on IRC about this issue and the administrator in question will be reprimanded appropriately.

Wrong. “10. Team stacking will not be tolerated. Clans may be broken up by player.”

    READ: MAY

    NOT READ: Clan stack.

    Thanks. You too. :)

Actually, Liam is right. Clan stacking is not permitted and has not been for months now. The server is owned and operated by Western Carolina University, we do not support people’s clans and the school does not either. We do not want to give off any connotation that the school or club is supporting people’s teams so thusly, we split people up. If you wish to continue to try and exploit loopholes due to poorly chosen words and/or because the rules are not re-stated in multiple places then please, don’t.

    Heh. Thanks. ^.^

Still though, the differing rule is just officiating the process of persecuting clan players, negatively effecting the server by forcing clans to play elsewhere and players who wish to join clans to look to other servers. Because it puts bias against clanners into play.

A less bias option would be to ban clan tags from the Server, but this would only serve as an example of how ridiculous clan persecution is and how non-enforceable it is.

You have admins and players a like shouting clan stacking when 2 clan members are on one team and 3 are on another because the rule allows them to do so. What are they, the clan players, to do? Leave their clan so that they’re not breaking a rule that eventually comes down to anger and spite fueled opinion?

When there are no admins, and often when there are, the Balancer is law. Then why when a clan plays on the server they can be automatically targeted and blamed for ‘breaking the server’ and forcing others not to play?

The rule is simply an aggresive and childish way to fight back, and causes the exact same problem is supposed to solve by forcing the clan side of the player base away from the server. If the original rule was enforced properly and hadn’t evolved to be a tool to lay blame none of this problem would exist.

Its night now, we should have good nights. :)

Actually, the rule was put in place because as I said earlier, the school does not support and will never support a clan of any sort. It isn’t exactly possible to ban clan tags from the server, else it would be rather ridiculous as you stated.

When clans are properly un-stacked, people don’t complain. Admins don’t try and split them up anymore because 3 on 1 team and 2 on another isn’t exactly an even split and never will or can be.

The clan isn’t breaking the server, the clan is breaking the rule of not stacking.

Clans can join and always will, but they cannot stack. I don’t see how this is forcing people not to play, I only see how it is forcing them not to try and ghost and stack the teams.

Oh *edited*, that was you Kellum? Haha, you should’ve told me :P. I had no clue who you were, rofl.

    Killer, welcome back :P

Most people’s problems with the team balancer is that to them, it isn’t doing its job or it is switching the wrong people. The problem mainly with this though is that people are switching themselves over while the balancer is checking the teams and thusly, screwing the teams over themselves.

If you don’t want to be viewed as one, take off the tag. People in your clan/team/etc will ALWAYS bestow an image of who that clan is and how that clan acts. If one member is a *edited*-all from the team while the rest are fine, the member that is the *edited*-all is going to be creating a bad image.

The rules are simple, don’t stack and don’t ghost.

in reply to: Server Questions #24171

Client settings in 1.6 are minimal, there really aren’t any for a person to change to enhance ping or gameplay.

I don’t believe there is even a tickrate for 1.6, Liam, but our Source server is 100tick.

Source is pretty hard if you try to shoot standing still at the people that are just running holding down fire and headshooting everybody.

And 1.6 is pretty hard if you’re trying to NOT hit someone’s left arm, get hit by a nade that is 100yds from you, or try and NOT throw a nade 2 miles.

Bump to the front so people who can’t download AWP can put it on properly.

in reply to: map differs from the server’s #24026

We probably need to go ahead and re-submit the maps, their .nav files, etc back onto the server as well as on Aphrodite (since it is the source for our fast download .nav files, if I’m right about this) so that people can officially download the appropriate map.

For what its worth, I downloaded Contra, Lost Temple, and SK from the server without any issue. Awp_map on the other hand :(

It can be both boring and fun. If you have a T team that will rush and not just sit around it’s a well balanced and fun map.

Been playing since 1.4, I’ve had my share of CAL and such, but I suck :(

What server are you on? We’ve got a guild on Alterac Mountains and such :)

    in reply to: LOA #23963

Ouch man, good luck with everything. See you the ~10th of August or so when we go back up to WCU for ITS training and such.

    in reply to: De_Dust #23944

Most maps are that way, if T’s can rush then CT’s get dominated on Dust.

    in reply to: IRC? #23932

Bracket was connecting to the WCU Server, which we host off of our webserver.

Bracket, read down more in the How To and it’ll tell you how to connect to Gamesurge, where #findscrimsource, etc are all there.

Yeah the VE version of the Soprano will hold the 8800GTX no problems, it is like 1″ longer, which allows the GTX to fit. Unfortunately its also some ridiculous $35 more than the Soprano I bought.

And yeah, I usually have terrible case wiring so I wouldn’t doubt your wiring will completely own mine :(.

in reply to: Oh no my Gateway #23880

Teaches you to buy a Gateway :P.

Either way, hope you get it up and running once more up to your standards.

in reply to: Woot new computer #23878

Oh, he wants to compete :>

Here I thought he was liquidating, lul.

By the way, the Soprano can’t hold the GTX unless you want to take a Dremmel to it, which I’m doing tomorrow. And with your 3 hard drives, I don’t know if you’ll be able to since you have to cut away some of your hard drive cage.

in reply to: Woot new computer #23869

    Oh what a tease >

I got my case, video card (the monster that it is, seriously it seems like 1ft long), RAM, and Mobo in today but my Processor and PSU come in tomorrow. Booo :(
