Why is Bracket not banned for all this garbage. Although very entertaining, should probably stop now.

theres no prob with the clan…stacking only bugs people cuz they think there ghosting..but we had problems like this before and yeah its the server rules, and since most the members are server regs, just take the tag off if u guys gotta stack, i know its hard not to stack because the autobalance really is *edited*ed if anyone else agrees. But again it doesnt bug me but i think i like cs:s more if theres no drama in the server or with admins.

Actually the autobalancers only bug I fixed and the new plugin was uploaded this morning, so it should be de-*edited*ed now and hopefully working correctly.

Howeveer, instead of, “the autobalancer really is *edited*ed”, try posting something helpful, like, the autobalancer would work better if it did this instead of that. Without any constructive criticism I really cant continue to get it working better and better, and I’m sure most would admit its come a long way since it was originally put in and I thank everyone for their input and help in getting the bugs with it worked out.

As far as I am concerned its better than what we had, and to echo Liam’s words please refrain from just saying I think it sucks, a monkey could probably in some guttural fashion say that. It takes someone with a bit of intelligence to acutally say why they don’t like something.

Most people’s problems with the team balancer is that to them, it isn’t doing its job or it is switching the wrong people. The problem mainly with this though is that people are switching themselves over while the balancer is checking the teams and thusly, screwing the teams over themselves.

I actually put in checks to resolve the problem where if people swap in the middle of the round or an admin moves someone in the middle of the round then it will go ahead and refresh its team info at “round end” so that it balances correctly.

    :)

It really all comes down to if there’s a problem, spell out what it is, dont just say how you feel about it. I can fix it if its broken, but only if I know what part of it is broken.

The things I fixed in this last release are things I saw myself while playing, which had to directly deal with *who* it was switching.

    Thanks again everyone :)

As a new avid gamer on the WCU server, I was here awhile ago when bracket and others started using the dcpn tag. I also remember that in the short time I played before that, pretty much everyone playing was a reg. Everyone I see with a dcpn tag on is pretty much a reg on this server. In no way do they try to teamstack, i believe some of them always try to get on their bf’s team. But sometimes I choose a team based on different things also. All I’m trying to say is that I think the server has created the clan almost, because everyone in it was or is a regular player on the server. Blame shouldn’t be put on them because there are 5 of them on one team, and 2 or 3 on the other team.

    2. No racism, sexism, religious defamation, or trolling will be tolerated.

    3. No spamming grenades, voicecom, say, or teamsay.

    4. Intentional team-flashing will result in a slay.

    5. Map exploits (sky-walking, boosting through floors leaving the play area of the map) are regarded as cheating and will result in an instant slay.

    6. Do not argue your punishment with administrators. Please realize that we are here to enjoy the game and help others to do the same.

    7. No pornographic or shock-imagery sprays are allowed.

    8. Terrorists must attempt to plant the bomb on bomb defusal (de_xxxx) maps. Spawn campers will be slain.

    9. Counter-terrorists must attempt to rescue the hostages on hostage (cs_xxxx) maps. Spawn campers will be slain.

    10. Team stacking will not be tolerated. Clans may be broken up by player.

Many days when I sign on I see more people from dcpn on one side than another. Its pretty simple, dont stack. If there are 2 clan members on the T team and 1 on the CT team, join the CT team. Hopefully with the changes I just made to the team balancer it will negate this issue anyway.

Clan stacking is such a null issue. No one would complain if they all sucked. Therefore the issue is team-stacking, and seemingly no one complains when one team is raping another for points. The balancer is there to solve this problem anyway. If someone avoids the balancer, kick, ban, whatever.

This entire thread is practically just Clan persecution, its incredibly sad and people then go on to wonder why Bracket or anyone else for that matter come back and act like they do, you create the perfect environment for a lot of this.

As the rules say Clans ‘MAY’ be broken up, but if friends want to play together then either an admin or the balancer should decide otherwise ‘IF NECESSARY’, not just because it can be done under the rules and not just because random idiots complain when in actual fact its just an excuse for losing. Whining players arn’t admins for good reason, and the responsibility of balancing teams shouldn’t be left in the hands of the individuals either as this isn’t a perfect world and its just asking for trouble.

Just because you’re a clan and your members do pretty decently, shouldn’t mean they get crap from people -including admins, just because they play together. Admins should sort the problem (when there is a problem to sort), they have no need to *edited* about it when they can act on it. And they shouldn’t support the detrimental attitudes of players who harrass Clans because they’re seen as valid targets.

Just because someone create a clan shouldn’t mean WCU becomes a less enjoyable server for them to play on. Just as Clans shouldn’t make WCU a less enjoyable server to play on for the less abled player.

Yeah, team stacking has been a problem in the server since i started playing here. Its just more obvious now since the regulars that are stacking have tags in front of their names… Just ignore seph, all he does is *edited* and moan because he starts dying.

Its simple, this is a pub, this is not clan dcpn vs the rest of the WCU server population or any other clan for that matter, it doesn’t matter to me but its the rules that were laid down, so I follow them. The big issue is not that clan stacking can cause one team to be really good, its that by doing that it almost encourages ghosting, thats what we are trying to avoid for the most part I think, we know that many people play while in vent or teamspeak and we just want to avoid that possibilty of ghosting the best we can.

As you say though, you can’t really stop ghosting and certainly aren’t doing any good by splitting up clan members. If it were literally like five clan guys versus five pubbers that would be one thing, but since I’ve never seen an amazing clan on the server anyway, I don’t think we have to worry about much. I mean I’ve seen clanners come in, get *edited*ed at for stacking, then just change their names and keep playing and as soon as people forget that they had tags on, no one cares because they sucked to begin with.

Like I said we cant make it perfect, only put up the safety tape to hope to slow it down. And your right if people take off their tags it isn’t a big deal, its more of a perception thing, if they dont have tags on people in the server won’t *edited* about stacking especially if they are new to the server and don’t know them. Its all safety tape man and it is the best we can do.

Just to clarify, the rules ARE NOT, to split up clans, as has become the normal behaviour by admins. Its to stop team stacking, not clan stacking. It simply states that clans may be broken up because generally Clans like to stick together and therefore they will normally bear the brunt of these ‘moves of fairness’.

The “I’m following the rules’ attitude is frankly bull. Its an excuse. Players get *edited*ed off all the time, they blame everything, and so do admins, and sometimes they even agree on a cause for the sake of having something to *edited* at. Recently DcPN have took a lot of flack because they were easy targets for blame, thankfully though the childish behaviour is on a decline (eg. Brackets been away a lot and not *edited* stiring :P).

Personally, I’d like to thank the DcPN guys for helping populate the server and for giving some *edited* decent games. And for all the times they’ve made the server a little more enjoyable by evening the teams.

Excuse me, did you say something? No its not an excuse, I don’t make any excuses for stupid stuff like that. I could careless when it comes straight down to it, I am given a set of rules to follow as an admin so I follow those rules, who the hell do you think you are all of a sudden? You have 11 posts and maybe been on the server for three weeks? Stick around and then maybe you will have the right to flame, the rule is no clan stacking period. Other than that thanks for your input and I hope you continue to enjoy your time on the server.

    -=!!ATTENTION!!=-

Guys do you play on the server and have a bad time? I’m guessing when you open up steam like me, you click right on wcu and if there is more than just bots, you join. I don’t look at any other servers usually. Cause WCU is fun. A LOT of the better players, switch themselves to the disadvantaged, losing, or sucky team. Every map isn’t going to be 7-8 or something at the end. Learn to deal with some failure.

!1 surefire way to change the favor a bit – Don’t ask the guy with the most kills to switch on his own… he’s on a run let him go he’s in the zone. Now with that said there is obviously a #2 in the server doing pretty well but the #1 is gettin all the kills. Ask him to switch, he’s still in the zone. It evens the teams almost immediately. Even if they’re not exactly even it will lengthen the rape and pillage rnds.

Mostly every guy I know in DCPN looks every few rnds for the stacked team and tries to help the losing team.

From the MOTD on connect to the CS:S server.

This server is run by the Western Carolina University Gaming Club.

    For more information, see http://www.wcugaming.org/

    Server rules:

    1. Cheating of any form is strictly prohibited and will result in a permanent ban.

    2. No racism, sexism, religious defamation, or trolling.

    3. No spamming grenades, voicecom, say, or teamsay.

    4. Intentional team-flashing will result in a slay.

    5. Map exploits (sky-walking, boosting through floors leaving the play area of the map) will result in an instant slay.

    6. Do not argue with admins. Admin abuse should be reported on the forums.

    7. No pornographic or shock-imagery sprays.

    8. Terrorists must attempt to plant the bomb on bomb defuse maps. Spawn campers will be slain.

    9. Counter-terrorists must attempt to rescue the hostages on hostage maps, and must attempt to escort the VIP on assassination maps. Spawn campers will be slain.

    10. Do not kill hostages.

    11. Do not plant in the water on de_inferno.

    12. Do not join the larger team when joining or stack as a clan

Have a nicer day. I’m also not having a *edited*ing contest with you. :)

    Heh. Thanks. ^.^

Still though, the differing rule is just officiating the process of persecuting clan players, negatively effecting the server by forcing clans to play elsewhere and players who wish to join clans to look to other servers. Because it puts bias against clanners into play.

A less bias option would be to ban clan tags from the Server, but this would only serve as an example of how ridiculous clan persecution is and how non-enforceable it is.

You have admins and players a like shouting clan stacking when 2 clan members are on one team and 3 are on another because the rule allows them to do so. What are they, the clan players, to do? Leave their clan so that they’re not breaking a rule that eventually comes down to anger and spite fueled opinion?

When there are no admins, and often when there are, the Balancer is law. Then why when a clan plays on the server they can be automatically targeted and blamed for ‘breaking the server’ and forcing others not to play?

The rule is simply an aggresive and childish way to fight back, and causes the exact same problem is supposed to solve by forcing the clan side of the player base away from the server. If the original rule was enforced properly and hadn’t evolved to be a tool to lay blame none of this problem would exist.

Its night now, we should have good nights. :)

Actually, Liam is right. Clan stacking is not permitted and has not been for months now. The server is owned and operated by Western Carolina University, we do not support people’s clans and the school does not either. We do not want to give off any connotation that the school or club is supporting people’s teams so thusly, we split people up. If you wish to continue to try and exploit loopholes due to poorly chosen words and/or because the rules are not re-stated in multiple places then please, don’t.

Actually, the rule was put in place because as I said earlier, the school does not support and will never support a clan of any sort. It isn’t exactly possible to ban clan tags from the server, else it would be rather ridiculous as you stated.

When clans are properly un-stacked, people don’t complain. Admins don’t try and split them up anymore because 3 on 1 team and 2 on another isn’t exactly an even split and never will or can be.

The clan isn’t breaking the server, the clan is breaking the rule of not stacking.

Clans can join and always will, but they cannot stack. I don’t see how this is forcing people not to play, I only see how it is forcing them not to try and ghost and stack the teams.

I guess the issue of being blind to the issue is an issue that cannot be resolved.

But you will never truely resolve anything for a communal space by only seeing from one or a limited perspective. The sadest part is that there are two sides and both are pretty much reflections of each other, the rule just serves to benefit one group of people while making life harder on another when an Admin chooses to do so. The game isn’t perfect so I guess the rules don’t have to be either.

But frankly I don’t trust the loop-hole of allowing Admins to interfere with clans on a whim, as had been happening, which brought around the retaliation of as far as I know one individual, which then leads to arguements and strife and then the resolute impression that Admins now have totalitarian power when dealing with clans, specifically DcPN which represents a good sized portion of the active playing community.

Yes as you say, you can’t ban tags, nor can you moderate clans without tags, nor social circles which dominate and upset the team balances far more than clans have or will.

It’s WCUGs place to choose who they support. I guess according to this rule being used by some as an anti-clan device, I would be wrong to assume they support their public community as a whole or that they in one way support any part of it. Obviously according to what you say WCU Gaming supports its non-affiliated individuals which is most likely the servers minority, over their affiliated ones. And anyone in a clan will have to forgo their individual rights they were previously allowed, unless they’re sneaky and wear no tags or do not declare clan affiliation in which case stacking is fine. Because all too often its an Admins team that gets stacked, and not all admins are as good as Goat and the like.

Some Admins use loop-holes too. Some Admins like to “… don’t see …” when it benefits them and seemingly see more than anyone else when when things don’t go their way.

If Rules allow such things to happen, then they’re no longer rules, they’re just become officially recognized excuses.
