Just an FYI, I was trying to play some source tonight and couldn’t connect because it says that the server is out of date.

I concur with Chantz, but also you regs can help admins out greatly by speccing blatant faggotry. Just be sure to get a steam_id as well. We do need a demo to permaban, but no where does it say who needs to take a demo.

    Two things:

On the topic of gman, I banned him for 1000 minutes for racism, so if he steps out of line again at all, permaban him.

The adverts should read something like this:

    1. No Bunnyhopping!

    2. Join the community, appeal a ban, apply for admin @ http://www.wcugaming.org

    3. Need an admin? *irc address here*

    4. For all server rules read the MOTD

I think we should keep the adverts to just a few important ones. Otherwise it can get annoying pretty fast. The main one that I would like to see is the no bunnyhopping one. That way admins can slay without warning people and the message gets across pretty fast. I would also condense all of the messages advertising the forums down into 1 single advert so we are not spammed to death.

i think that aztec and lost temple could probably work all right.

This rotation looks pretty good otherwise. I would suggest that we try it for a few weeks before setting it in stone.

I agree that we need a short rotation with maybe a random fun map in the middle, kind of like what Yahoo was saying. My only suggestion is that we need to be careful which maps we put back to back. No custom maps should ever be put back to back, and custom and not so popular regular maps should be followed by a very popular map (ie not italy).

I have my own personal likes and dislikes of particular maps, but I will make no comment since other people seem to like them.

In the *random* fun map spot I would rotate probably (@ 10 minutes each) deagle5, sk3, tides, aztec?, chateau, etc.

I know I am forgetting some good ones…

Yeah, we really need to jump start this server. We should probably temporarily sacrifice the GG and TF2 servers and remove all custom maps from the server rotation. If we have to play straight dust2, office, inferno, and cbbl to get the server back up and running, I am willing to do it, even though those map choices are sucky.

5 and I will be returning to school later this week, so perhaps more play time will occur after that happens. Until then I am packing… (and lurking on the forums).

I like the new variety of maps, but I voted only kinda because nightfever and dust, especially dust is fail. With those two removed the rotation looks good. If not removed at least significantly reduced. Dust clears the server every time though one sided maps are better now that you can’t select teams.

I have read most of this thread and I have agreed with Citan. Over the past couple of weeks regs have been breaking the rules far more frequently than they should have.

As an admin, I find it hard to warn them time after time about this behavior to people who I know already know better since they have played here frequently. I’m sorry, but if you’re a reg, I hold you to a higher standard than the random pubber who comes in and plays. You know the rules, and you know I have to enforce them.

Saying this, we are not perfect and do make mistakes. Bottom line, give us a break and follow the rules.

I’m surprised that the deagle isn’t number 1 right now. One shot HS ftw. The only downside is that the clip is small, but i still love it.

It used to be a point of pride that Americans bowed to no one (ie, we are a free people we answer to no one but ourselves), and so presidents espoused this idea and shook hands, embraced, kissed, but never bowed to foreign rulers as it is a sign of subservience.

Now, I don’t believe that Obama was bowing to show subservience, he was bowing because that’s what he thought was proper to do in that situation. He’s new to this kind of thing so I’d be willing to cut him a break. However, avoiding this kind of thing is what his staff are for. The amount of foreign protocol gaffs that he has made are astounding. (Giving the Queen of England an Ipod? After giving the PM of England a set of DVDs?) Again, I cannot blame these on him, its not like he has time to give thought to such things, but his staff does. They *edited*ed up big time and made him and the US look bad on the world stage.

Eventually we must again place this blame on Obama because he hired this group of incompetents. Again, he probably didn’t hire them directly, but some one he hired hired them. The Chicago machine that he brought with him to Washington is probably competent in other areas, but foreign protocol is new to them and Obama should have found someone else with more experience to do their jobs. He didn’t so now he and us get to look bad.

And to think that they made fun of Palin for not having foreign policy experience.

Easter Break? What break? We just get the weekend off and then I get to look forward to a lab, 2 tests and some homework. However, 5 and I will be headed home to try and forget all of that for a couple of days.

Who here goes to a public school and gets extra days off for Easter?

I had to vote no. The map rotation works just fine and when an unloved map comes up we can RTV. If we allow people to nominate as well, we can be playing SK3 almost permanently. (Some people do not consider this a bad thing, but I do.) In short map voting just screws the server up and so the less random user control the server has, the better.

in reply to: Health Care Reform #74544
    Pink Monkey #16

This sounds like an HSA which already exists. Basically the employer purchases a very high deductible health care plan for the employee, think a $10,000 deductible, this makes the plan extremely cheap. Then they give the employee a certain sum every year to cover the expenses up to that $10,000. This money goes into a Health Savings Account or HSA. If the money is not all used in one year, it carries over to the next. The advantages are thus, the employer saves because the cheap plan + the extra money is still cheaper than the original plan that the employee had. The health care system wins as does the rest of us because it forces people to make their own decisions about their health care (ie, shopping for better prices, saying no to unnecessary procedures) and the employee wins or at least stays the same because they lose no benefits.

So what is the main opposition to these wonderful HSA’s? The employees themselves. As you can see, the employee has little incentive to use the HSA, since although they get the same coverage, they need to take a more active role in their health care through research and shopping. The obvious way to do this is to just pass a law and force them to do this, as was mentioned previously. I don’t really support doing this, as I feel the government should keep its nose out of most matters. However, the incentive to the employer is great due to decreased costs and certain tax benefits, so maybe the government could do more to encourage this behavior through better tax policies. Eventually I believe more companies will take advantages of these things and bring down health care costs and maybe make the American consumer a bit more health conscious and knowledgeable.

Also this was about the only good think that came out of Bush’s Medicare Prescription Drug Plan.
