I’ve seen it done before where access to the shoutbox is only allowed to those who have X number of posts. If you were a guest or had <X posts, the shoutbox simply didn’t appear.

Lately, I’ve been throwing around the idea of starting a project / organization centered around gamers giving to charities. Ideally, this organization/project would plan and execute LANs and tournaments for the sole purpose of raising money for charities, as well as providing donations to other local causes (say, donating canned goods / food to local CUOCs, donating clothes to Salvation army, etc). It will take awhile, years mind you, before it is on the national level. But that is the end goal I would like to see achieved. Ideally, this would turn a positive image of gamers in the public eye as well as having gamers give back to society.
I would like some feedback from the community. Is this a good idea? Would you want to attend a charity LAN? Do you think it’ll have a positive impact for both gamers and charities? Hopefully, I can run a pilot LAN and see about raising money for a local charity, such as Victory Junction or some other benefit, over the summer. If you’re in NC and would like to help out, let me know.
Yeah. Trust me. I know. But the good people hate it when they lose for no other reason than playing by different rules.
And evidently this club has a bad habit of hating people that are good at a game too.
Meh. You get both sides really. You have plenty of people saying. “Why do we have to use the Battle Rifle?” Trust me. There are. And honestly, I really don’t want to hear excessive whining from one side OR the other.
Off topic: In response to the screen demo Derrick posted. HOLY CRAP I HAD LONG HAIR. 😡 That was like FOREVARS ago.
Catching up on work. Namely, grading labs for the freshmen labs I teach and working on a 20-page paper and a 10-page paper for my Forensics class due later this month.
Better than the alternative: Going back home and spending time with my mother. =/ And camping out in my room.. which is smaller than my dorm room.

Eh, personally, I don’t care since I have no intention in playing in either tournament. So, I’m open to comments and suggestions. I think we’re sticking to the INTENDED rules for last LAN with some possible tweaks. Such as bumping down to the number of maps to 3, but increasing the number of rounds to win on a map to 2. (Best of 3 rounds, best of 3 maps).
For Halo, the gametype will be a 2v2 Team Slayer, similar to MLG’s setting with a few tweaks, with default maps. Probably a best of 3 maps. Time limits will be imposed for the maps as well.
It’s something fun and different, IMO. I’m not necessarily the best at TF2.. but I think it leads to those epic battles where it’s one whole team against the other in one big fray.

I’m willing to put forth the time and effort to keep the TF2 server fun and enjoyable.
It can easily work for shooters as well since only the names would be replaced with team names or the names of both members. That’s assuming we’re doing a 2v2 still.
