Oh Malley
ParticipantI too am Mike. Michael Moore to be more precise. I arrived on the scene shortly after consoles started appearing at the WCU Gaming LANs. Shortly after I arrived, I became one of the first console people to actually attend meetings. Therefore, I got the Console Council Leader position. From there, I helped the console department launch from a mere 1 or 2 tournaments with roughly 20 attendees to the 7 tournament status it is now with over double the number of console attendees. I’ve been in leadership almost every semester. I took a few semesters off to let someone else take the reins. Terms served would be.. Spring ’06 – Fall ’08, Spring ’09. I’ve also done some of the Marketing Admins work during one of those semesters. Plus I’ve become feared.. or respected for my prowess in Halo and Gears during my years here. I’m hoping to add Soul Caliber, Resistance, and Street Fighter to that list.
To all future Console leaders: Seek me first for help.
I’d be more than willing to answers questions or provide advice regarding anything and everything console-related, be it tournament settings and formats, LAN considerations, or sponsors.February 20, 2009 at 9:33 pm #71660Phonetically Phamous (dice

ParticipantAfter I was elected president, I pretty much gave Mike the ability to do whatever he wanted. It’s one of the things I did as president that I’ll never regret. He took it from nothing and made it bigger than the PCs. He’s done a hell of a job.

ParticipantHence why I respect you Shane. You’re one of the few who supported all of the changes I felt were necessary to make along the way.

ParticipantLately, I’ve been throwing around the idea of starting a project / organization centered around gamers giving to charities. Ideally, this organization/project would plan and execute LANs and tournaments for the sole purpose of raising money for charities, as well as providing donations to other local causes (say, donating canned goods / food to local CUOCs, donating clothes to Salvation army, etc). It will take awhile, years mind you, before it is on the national level. But that is the end goal I would like to see achieved. Ideally, this would turn a positive image of gamers in the public eye as well as having gamers give back to society.
I would like some feedback from the community. Is this a good idea? Would you want to attend a charity LAN? Do you think it’ll have a positive impact for both gamers and charities? Hopefully, I can run a pilot LAN and see about raising money for a local charity, such as Victory Junction or some other benefit, over the summer. If you’re in NC and would like to help out, let me know.

ParticipantSo yeah. >,> Countdown to the end of my days at WCU. I hope I did well during my term here and I hope to be a resource for those in the future. I do plan on serving as one of many Alumni Advisors. If I can anyways. As long as I have an internet connection or a cell phone, I’ll be reachable for sure.
As for the rest of my life, better buckle down and figure out where I’m headed. Looks like I’ll be headed back to A-town for a month, and then from there.. who knows? I’ll still be in NC for awhile.. as far as which region/area. I have no idea.
