ParticipantMm.. I’ll play. If I’m free and on IRC, let me know and I’ll hop on.

ParticipantMy only issue against the whole “team play” regard is that when I was the only one over consoles that I couldn’t do it because it’s wrong and creates the wrong atmosphere. However, I contend that people who bring their friends to LANs want to team with their friends to play together rather than some random kid that they don’t even know. But I understand the notion of not wanting to bring in “professional teams” granted they have no reason to come here to begin with other than to have fun.
Oh Malley
ParticipantHow often have we bothered to actually talk to the people who show up to the LANs and get to know them as opposed to sitting at our computers or consoles the entire 12 hours?
Oh Malley
ParticipantYou forgot to use the new [sarcasm] tags in your post.

ParticipantI’m just saying, if they can’t attend the meeting in person, then they can be in our IRC channel.
All of our members should be focusing on any and all games that are viable options.
Oh Malley
ParticipantIf they can bother posting nominations on the forums, then they can bother hopping on our IRC chan.

To be honest, i’d rather be playing games on the WCU servers in my spare time, with the occasional dabble in an MMOAmen to that one.
I was into Furcadia when I was bored in middle/high school.
Oh Malley
ParticipantMm.. it’s tough finding a good area to plug into but once you do it can be quite addicting. Plus if you bother to get into dreamweaving, it can be pretty fun.
Oh Malley
ParticipantRydell, you probably frequent Furcadia. If you haven’t, you probably should.

ParticipantAll consoles are standardized PCs with its own set of games. All you’re saying is “Let’s make another console and call it a PC.” That’s about what it boiled down to.
However, I think it is awesome if you’re capable of playing games on PCs you normally couldn’t play them on due to hardware / operating system restrictions.
Oh Malley
ParticipantDifferent engines behind the games.. and with that different communities.

ParticipantI have my notes made for all possible game choices that have been mentioned so far. We’re not aiming to “please” the most people here. We’re attempting to 1) maximize the potential LAN attendance while 2) maximizing efficiency.
Oh Malley
ParticipantWe really can’t assert anything about Street Fighter without a survey of all the participants. Regardless, I think we need a flexible framework that will work for the upcoming LAN and every LAN afterward.
As far as PC goes, the line-up needs to be tweaked as well. I don’t know how well the L4D tournament played since it was really experimental in all regards, I think. CS:S and TF2 are definites though. I think UT3 needs to be at least considered (especially since it won’t have the programs setting up that CoD4 has). We could even look into bringing back CS 1.6 or some other game.
Oh Malley
ParticipantWell, I’ve been doing my research on the numbers… Some game choices to look into…
Killzone 2 (good replacement for Resistance 2)
Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe
Then of course, I know people have a lot of interest in Halo Wars. However this has its drawbacks as well.
Left 4 Dead would be fun but a tournament for that would take incredibly too long.
Also, we may want to look into bringing back a music game like Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour. For these, I think we could easily set up 2 tournaments based on difficulty and run them side-by-side.
My suggested list for the next LAN:
BRAWL.
SFIV and/or SCIV.
GoW2/H3/CoD4 (Urging that at least 1 must be there).
-Open-
-Open-
-Open if only one fighter was chosen above.-
The remaining open slots would be open for discussion and debate as to consider how much resources we have for those games, if a tournament would be reasonable and feasible, and if we think it would have enough interest to draw a considerable crowd.

ParticipantIf I can get power cables for mine, I can bring the two I purchased.. as backups.
Oh Malley
ParticipantI ask that I get the floor for some period of time. I think the club needs to regain focus on the intentions of the club and keep those in mind while prepping for the next LAN.
Oh Malley
ParticipantI see her on campus a lot. Along with Cacophony. Granted, I think they’ve shown up to 1 LAN in the past year, I think.
Anyways.. yeah. I am the go-to guy. lol. This upcoming LAN will be my last as an exec and I’m sure any future execs will need my help or could at least use my advice.

ParticipantThis thread just gave me the uh-oh feeling.

Most of my concerns have been expressed already, but I’ll make a short list.+ The 360 stand being put outside was a good idea, but the suggestion of having it down on 1st is even better.
+ We got plenty of drinks this time, but the snacks went quickly. The spending ratio just needs to be tweaked.
+ The layout of the room was great without the stage being there. Only Rock Band’s location was a minor
inconvenience (we likely would have had Rock Band on the other projector if it wasn’t “broken”).
– General communication between execs needs to improve.
– We need to leave the microphone in one place, so everyone who needs to make an announcement can.
– Going dual console for the fighting games turned out to be mostly an inconvenience(time-wise especially).
– Door prize announcements need to be more organized, at the end it was just people grabbing leftover shirts.
I’ll think of more at the meeting on Thursday.
Agree on all points.
Note on bolded aspect. Yeah. But we would’ve never known had we not tried. If it was about 50/50 on console preference, I doubt it would’ve been as bad. Instead, it was 25/75, so it may be wise to move those games to PS3 only. The benefit of this is that there’s plenty of free play time on the 360 now which is a good thing.

Also my signup was a fail. Almost none of the console people signed up for it because they dont know our website or are not involved with the community. Why is that your fail? I think this is a general club fail for not bothering to actually bothering to reach out to all these LAN attendees that show up and getting them involved in the community.
Oh Malley
ParticipantI’m all for a UT3 server.

ParticipantI asked the guys (Freezer and Tallgeese) how things went for them since they were in charge of running the 360 stuff in my stead. I heard everything went okay overall; however, they told me a lot of things that went very poorly. I won’t go into detail here, but I will bring it up at the meeting, or will discuss it over AIM/IRC/etc.
Oh Malley
ParticipantGood to see some new names up on the winners list. Sounds like we had a lot better turnout before. Granted, I have heard some things about how it was run that troubled me, but it’ll be dealt with at the next meeting. Sorry I missed it guys, but at least this was a good LAN under new leadership. A good indicator that things will be outstanding this year.
Oh Malley
ParticipantDon’t forget, consoles attendance exploded during Shane’s run.
Wonder why.Oh Malley
Participanteh. right now I’m taking a break from the tF forums. Usual clan drama. Yay..
Oh Malley
ParticipantI know. I’m surprised NoDice had so few posts so far. I thought surely he was going to have me beat within a week.
