Hey I actually agreed the first time; it’s not often that I agree with Ashley but this time I think she’s spot on.

Try to explain to your grandmother how to install Adobe flash player on a Linux system.

    That’s why. :)

Sorry nickname, abritt, sometimes people have very urgent business, like grandparents who need taking care of on occasion. I know I’ve missed two meetings because of them. Would you like my resignation now? There’s a chance I may miss more in the future. Sorry I can’t be there for those really clutch votes where every person matters. Oh wait sorry, fancy of the imagination popping up there.

Have those obligations hurt my performance as the source cl? I honestly desire your opinion there, sarcasm aside. Answer that if you actually play on the server or attended the tournament for source at the last lan.

Last point, this goes back to our wonderful process of ratification. The vast majority of debating and deliberating anything that has to do with the club goes on here, on the forums. Say Cacophony missed the next meeting and we had to vote on stuff for the TF2 lan, we already pretty much know what he wants based on the topic here on the forums, are we incomptent enough that slack can’t be picked up on occasion.

I am pretty sure I said that if you let Kuros know beforehand (not that difficult to pick up a phone) then it’s really not a problem. The problem is when people just decide not to come for the hell of it.

ok let’s just fire every exec and cl that doesn’t show up to the meeting without informing kuros beforehand.

seriously, there is no excuse for it. I will throw up a vote to add it into the constitution at the next meeting if I have to. I have things to do but I make time to go to the meetings because they are held for a reason; people in power positions should do the same.

hmmm…. except I was a user of both platforms.

Please though, show me where I can get this mac with an 8800gts. OSX is built on FreeBSD, but that doesn’t make it compatible with everything out there; hence the reason you used to have to buy mac-specific hardware. Ever try using a Lexmark printer with a Mac? Not to mention if it was compatible with everything you could install OSX anywhere you pleased.

PCs can run the 16gb ram and use any type of ddr2 as well; and some can already use ddr3…

Thus none of your arguments really hold except the one that apple makes good software (iLife, FinalCut, etc), which I had already said.

As for your running source on your macbook; that’s great. The problem is that you NEED this 3rd party software to run it! most average joes don’t know how to do all that. Doesn’t say much for a company that says it “just works”

By the way, my research was already done my friend :)

Windows is the better OS and this is why: it can run on a HUG variety of hardware.

That’s it. There is no more.

Macs aren’t better at multimedia because they run on OSX; they are better because better multimedia software was made for OSX. Windows isn’t just “good for games”, but more games are designed to run on Windows.

There is VERY LITTLE that a Windows PC cannot do, however. It might not be as easy as on a Mac, but it can be done. The fact is that you CAN’T play Crysis on OSX because A) the highend hardware is not supported and B) the software is not there.

I would hope the AI is smarter on crysis; it is a much newer game. I think they are equally tactical; farcry even moreso I think because you have to conserve your health in farcry whereas you don’t in crysis (since it regenerates). I agree that the environment does change in Crysis but that alone doesn’t make it completely different from FarCry.

BTW, I HAVE played the demo, which is why I have such a strong opinion on the matter. And I just recently played some of farcry so I do know what I am talking about.

When is the last time you’re played farcry? Yes, I have played the Crysis demo, how are they not the same?

Farcry: you are talked to by a guy on a walkie talkie

Crysis: you are talked to by a squad leader on a walkie talkie

Farcry: you can only hold x number of weapons at a time

Crysis: you can only hold x number of weapons at a time

Farcry: takes place on a lush tropical island with stunning graphics

Crysis: takes place on a lush tropical island with stunning graphics

Farcry: you can drive boats and cars around

Crysis: you can drive boats and cars around (and they control identically)

Farcry: objectives, but the game is very open with lots of ways to get from point A to B because its a big island

Crysis: objectives, but the game is very open with lots of ways to get from point A to B because its a big island

    FarCry: fairly impressive AI

    Crysis: fiarly impressive AI

    FarCry: variable zoom binoculars

    Crysis: variable zoom binoculars

Farcry: you start out fighting mercenaries then fight mutants

Crysis: you start out fighting korean soldiers then fight aliens

(wow, they really changed things up on us!)

    Ok, now the differences:

Crysis has the cool modes for the suit and automatically regenerates armor and health (a la Halo)

FarCry on the other hand has the (annoying) health/armor packs.

If you want to think of the difference between the games on a purely functional level, the difference is pretty much Call of Duty vs Call of Duty 2; they have some differences but fundamentally it is the same game.

Crysis == FarCry on acid, regardless of what anyone else says. And that’s not a bad thing, FarCry is an awesome game. Awesome on acid = I want that game soooooo bad

Cacophony, RiceKrispies, and I discussed this some on irc and threw up these ideas:

    1) More ppl advance from the winning team than the losing team

Ex: if we start with 12v12, 10 advance from winning, 8 from losing, etc.

    2) Use mainly tc and cp maps; threw up the ideas to use hydro, well, granary, and I proposed ctf_turbine_v3 if we need to use a ctf map, due to its small size

That works great until it comes down to getting overall winners; I would guess it would have to be 2 overall winners or something like that like in DOD.

Also, if you just wanted to get points, you could be an engy and just make a teleport entrance and exit right next to each other and just continuously go through them (of course, this would probably cause your team to lose, which is why the losing team should have fewer people advance).

Hah, I think about this almost daily

I think there should be more to who advances than high score; it should also involve the winning team having more (or all) advancing

somthing like if the tourney is 24 ppl all 12 advance from the winning team but only the top 6 or 8 from the losing team or something like that.

I would like to see lots of gravel pit and dustbowl and well and less of 2fort because I think team capture is better than capture the intelligence… though maybe its just b/c I hate 2 fort.

Maybe we should have people sign up as teams if they wish, since it is “team” fortress after all.
