Participantif he is causing those kind of problems then take away his admin, but IMO he should still be allowed to PLAY on the server as long as he follows the server rules like everyone else.

Too big to be effective. I’d rather have 2 or 3 monitors instead of one large one.Why would you prefer having seperate monitors and therefore a break between them? A single monitor would be 10x better than seperate monitors

ParticipantIf you want to stay to play and not to stir up crap, then by all means play the game. If your point is being here to cause problems then please do us all a favor and leave.

Participantyes I do but I won’t be back in town till the 9th.

Participantby then you might want to buy a newer card
but I will let you know.Nickname
ParticipantThe pics look alright, the colors aren’t 100% accurate IMO but the pictures don’t turn out pixilated like most cameras. The biggest downside to the camera is it takes a little longer to snap a picture than most other cameras I have used. Call it “slow” but that is my only real complaint.

Participantok I cleaned up this mess a bunch so its actually legible. Still have the zboard and camera for sale!

Participantthe main problem with soldier/medic (imo) is the speed. The soldiers are just too slow and medic/soldier can be taken out rather easily by a scout/pyro or something like that. Honestly once the soldier loses his medic he is SOL unless playing a team of nubs.

ParticipantDon’t say you will NEVER run a 64bit OS because more than likely the next version of windows will only be 64bit. 4gb isnt really a waste of money if you buy aftermarket ram you can get 4gb for ~$100 or less (I can link if needed) but I agree with the VAC2 secure hax those could come in handy

Doesent apply to the laptop,, but whats the differeance between Intells core duo and core 2 duo?The core 2 duo is 64bit compatible while the core duo is not. Also the core2 is about 10% faster than the core duo at the same clock speed (though it consumes about 10% more power too)

and with the 2 Duo T7500 chip(2.20 GHz, 4 MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB) running the cheap basic Vista Home Premium (32-bit), does/can it read all 4 gigs of ram? {Should i opt for 2 or 3GB} or is it useless untill you go to 64bit. (does the school provide vista business/ultiment cheaply like it does XP) and any reason to have it dule boot to both XP pro and Vista.. Havent really desided which i wont to use. …sigh but the dv9700 series lappy does have 2 HD’sYes it will read all 4gb of ram, even on 32 bit vista, that limitation was a chipset problem that intel used to have with the first coreduo/core2duo chipsets but that shouldnt be a problem with the laptops you are looking at.
Also, the school doesn’t have vista (yet). Don’t dual boot unless you find that you NEED XP or something.

And battery choices8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery +Included
High Capacity 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery +40
Extra 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery +$129.00
Extra High Capacity 8 Cell Lithium Ion Batteries +$149.00
They dont give any stats of what the differeances are.. am i better off just getting the included cheapo and buy a aftermarket battery when the time comes
Don’t buy an aftermarket battery, they are almost always inferior to the originals. I would suggest the high capacity battery.

Participantmeh, get the dell instead; better graphics options and you can find pretty good deals on the outlet (dell.com/outlet)

Participantwow.
That sucks.
Did it get replaced with a new unit or something?

ParticipantIntels are faster but besides benchmarks its arguable whether or not you would “see” the performance improvements.
As far as the screens go, the resolution of the screen doesn’t impact whether or not its glossy and I think all of the dv9500’s screens are glossy. I don’t know what videocard you are getting but there isn’t a mobile videocard out there that can play the latest games at 1920×1200 so I suggest getting one of the lower 2 resolutions. I honestly think the 1680×1050 would be the best between having lots of room on the desktop and performance but if you are wanting to play games you are gonna want the lower resolution screen.

ParticipantIntels typically get better battery life.
The only reason I would promote dell is if you get their non-basic warranty (i.e. next business day), then their customer support is pretty amazing. Honestly though Dells and HPs have both improved greatly in terms of quality and either is a sound product nowadays. Just make sure you get the one with the specs you want for the price you want.

ParticipantChipset performance difference is very minimal (unless we are talking SiS or VIA, both of which suck); what really matters is what chipset has the features you want.

ParticipantAll I remember is getting on steamfriends and yelling at kuros because gungame was broken so i played tf2 instead. let’s just say my skills took a few minutes to come in but then I was decent but I dunno if I was really any better drunk ya know?

ParticipantAgreed; besides the fact that you typically spend more for an SLI setup than a single card that performs better, you also have to take into consideration the fact that not all games work with SLI and that its benefits are only useful at high resolutions, rendering it useless at typical monitor resolutions of 1440×900 or 1280×1024; you would need 1600×1200 or higher to really take advantage of SLI.

ParticipantHmmm… that coming from someone that has had one big old crappy laptop vs me who has had 6 in the last 2 years.
Yeah, obviously I know nothing and masterp is the genius. but all the advise he gives is to buy a desktop. how helpful.

Participantsome laptops can; see: alienware, dell xps m1730, sager, et al.
Check out notebookreview.com for some decent user reviews; I typically don’t give too much credit to online benchmarks because they can vary so widely between different sources and such.
The inspiron 1720 (vostro 1700) is good, the older e1705 is also good. Other notable mentions would be the hp dv9500t series and the toshiba p100/p200 series has some good ones; heck just found this: http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/pdet.t…amp;poid=365595 which looks like a great deal to me (7900gtx 512mb ftw!)

Participantthat laptop I sold to liam meets or exceeds every one of those stats he posted and I sold it for $1000. It happens to be the laptop he wants too, so I think I know what I am talking about. That 1720 is not some huge monster heat generator/battery sucker or anything like that.
BTW, I would consider a highend gaming laptop as something having at least 8700s in SLI or 7950s in SLI and nothing lower. A single 8600 HARDLY counts as a highend gaming laptop.

ParticipantHey Caco, did you realize that you registered for this site yearly exactly a year after me?

ParticipantI vote we copy the team aspect over to DOD:S as well as that is (or should) be more team based than it was at the last lan.
Nickname
ParticipantIf you have to play 2fort to win, then i guess you deserve it all.
play my team on well and you would’ve been fighting for 3rd

Nickname
ParticipantKip, he’s not looking to get some highend gameing laptop; that dell gets 2:30 with the standard battery and about 4 hours with the extended battery. It’s also not as big and bulky as the laptop you have. Desktop’s have the same terrible resell value as laptops as well so stfu about stuff when you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Nickname
Participantnobody cares ben

Nickname
ParticipantThe 1720 isn’t half bad in games; best if you don’t get the high resolution screen though since as you up the resulution obviously it affects performance.
With the 1720 I could play CS:S at 1920×1200, with everything on High except shadows and shaders on low. If you bump it down to 1440×900 then it plays fine with everything on High; same for TF2 as well I believe.
