ParticipantThe problem isn’t that he’s enabling features, it’s that he’s taking code from other drive packages to enable them. That would be like taking drivers for a Nvidia Go and using them on a standard Nvidia desktop board. Not only is it unstable, it can also be dangerous to the OS and card itself.
He’ll learn the hard way what most others already know, you don’t take donations if you aren’t writing your own code.

ParticipantYou may be switching between pipelines. Miami has some a big ISPs that route stuff through there.

Any time guesstimation hereThere is no real way to estimate how long something like this will take but considering the drives have probably never been fully defragmented and it’s been about 8 months since the last partial defrag it’ll probably take 2-4 hours at the very least. Depending on how bad they are fragmented, and only Bitey can answer that, it could easily take twice that.

It all boils down to this. Just because you have the power to do something doesn’t mean you should. For instance, earlier today the webserver was restarted because it had been up for 1500 hours. It’s a server…it’s supposed to be up for 1500+ hours. If you did that in a corporate environment, you would get fired. It should be no different here…this club has a fun side and a business/administrative side. The server did not need to be restarted. Just because you have RDP and think it’s so cool to remote into a server doesn’t mean it needs to be done. That’s the kind of things that are going on unchecked. The stuff that happens that we think is slightly annoying or a slight inconvenience ends up growing into a major issue.Agreed. If you’re going to reset the server, do it at 3-5am when you know no one is going to be using it. Aphrodite and TRON are both production servers and are rarely given the respect that comes with that title. Unless there is something quantifiably wrong with the server there is no reason to touch it at all and there is absolutely no reason to RDP into it unless something major is wrong.

Just the facts. ISPs don’t care what you think unless you are renting a big pipe from them then they care in a proportional amount to the size of the pipe.

ParticipantI’m nowhere near an EA fanboy, quite the opposite in fact, but this is really hyped up to be more than it is. EA is charging people who buy the standard version of the game to allow them to buy the extra weapons included in the Gold edition of the game. It’s really no different than many other games that have pay-for content on XBL. *Cought* Halo *cough*
TBH, I don’t really see a problem with this. It seems like more of a benefit than a detriment.

ParticipantThey are going to circle the cheapest amount, guaranteed. Since most gamer shirts sell for around $15 this is probably what we need to sell ours for but a question about the desirability to buy a shirt is definately a good idea.

ParticipantWhile I can’t say I’ve played CSS drunk, I will admit to excessively admin abusing drunk people. By my abuse standards, “excessive” admin abuse is a hell of a lot more than anything most of you have ever seen.

something like that, when people have to write you get stupid answers most of the time, but I dunno, maybe one question like that might be good.I’ve noticed that people are much more willing to circle pre-defined answers than think up their own, especially when they are preoccupied like they will be at the LAN. Keep the free responce to one or two questions or you might need a paper recycling bin too

wtf is that ?????? while sticky had a reason for his weird run to california, i want to know wtf my isp provider is doing/thinking.I dont understand that picture fully, is it starting in raleigh going to miami then coming all the way back to raleigh then bouncing around nc, then going to sc, hittting georgia then back to durham nc then to wcu.
I traced yours back and followed it node by node and I can’t tell you wtf is going on. It DOES go from Raleigh to Miami and back to Raleigh and then follows the path you mentioned.
Hey, packets need some fun in the sun.

I believe your IP had already cycled as you don’t live anywhere near where I traced your IP to. You probably still go to New York first though.

The program is no longer available for download as it was bought by a major vendor a few years back. As in 6 years back.

Maybe its just be, but whats the point of bashing the idea? Cant we all be friends, with out cutting each others throat? I for one would like to see the jackass attitude be left on someone else’s server. Was that really necessary? We were pointing out the fact that 1 hour a year can’t make up for the other 8759 hours in the year and that makes us jackasses? Some would call that a common sense question.
Sure there’s plenty of symbolic meaning to the 1 hour but symbolism alone can’t fix pollution.

ParticipantIn cities that participate, do they force residents to comply by turning their power off or do they get to choose whether or not to participate? None of the articles I’ve read really said.

Turning OUR power out doesn’t really help. If you had everyone on the planet do this it still wouldn’t matter. Not polluting for 1 hour doesn’t come close to making up for the 23 other hours. That would be 4.17% of the daily emissions. Big deal.
Besides, they have yet to prove “global warming” and the US government has rejected the idea of charging companies for “carbon credits” due to lack of evidence on the subject.

ParticipantI personally don’t have a problem with pirating PC games. If the game is worth the money people will go buy it. Where developers are hurting is when they make a *edited* poor game that isn’t worth the money to begin with. I havn’t bought a *edited* poor game in a decade, mostly because I try games before buying.
MasterP
ParticipantFigures they’d blame this on the government. Evil Bush be takin away ur stolen goods.

ParticipantThe 9800 GX2 is only about 17% faster than the 8800 Ultra when using AA and AF but it’s about 30% faster when using less extreme settings. It also has the ability to turn one of the cards off to save power but the control aspect of the feature is still a work in progress.

well if you ever DID need new drivers for your laptop, the best place to go is laptopvideo2go.com/forumsThey house just about every nvidia driver ever made and they have hacked inf files that make the newer drivers work with laptop cards (nvidia and OEMs rarely update laptop drivers for some odd reason, yet the desktop drivers work fine 98% of the time. I use those drivers for my laptop.)
Which is why I asked for a vendor because they are typically VERY specific. The ones on Nvidia’s website rarely work on laptop cards. To be fair though, the drivers on ATI’s website don’t even work well on desktop cards.

just asking a dumb question, i run the nvidia drivers from the nvidia website and have a geforce 6800 gt pci-express, and in the Nvidia control panel if you use advanced settings I see a vsync option, or if you want to get fancy the custom resolutions have settings that you can tune the vsync manually…does that have any use for you?
Forcing it in the Nvidia Control Panel is highly discouraged. If you pull up a high-powered game it overrides any in-game settings and forces Vsync. With the 8800 cards this isn’t really a problem but with all others it could put a hurting on performance.

Need the make and model of your laptop as well as the version of your current drivers.

yeah i agree with that idea but i use the awp so much i dont get many headshots
.While AWP doesn’t require headshots it makes the kill more honorable. You can’t whine about a headshot death because it really doesn’t matter what you got hit by.

Master P, you better pray my bro doesn’t see that p228 comment, haha. I really can’t see the USP more damaging than the p228, but I do believe the p228 is more accurate when shooting, especially when “spraying”.There are numerous calculators online and most say the USP is moderately more damaging against non-armored targets and the P228 is slighly more damaging against armored targets. Both require 2 headshots against an armored head and 100% health so in that respect it really doesn’t matter.
MasterP
ParticipantYou spend the extra time trying to hit it, might as well get a reward.
