In the past there have been threads that gave the requirements needed for the LAN and let players confirm what they were bringing. This would allow for a running tally of items instead of a jumble of confirmation posts with no real final goal in sight.

Bitey is correct. Most of his comments about the AWP cannot be refuted, so agreeth someone with a longstanding reputation of AWPing. Hell I even have a t-shirt about AWPing.

 

The AWP is overused but as I’ve said in the past you can very easily flank one and they are mediocre at best at close range. Sure you can get a lucky shot every now and then but the majority of the time you’re going to win if you flank an AWP with an M16 or AK. You may not be able to easily outflank good AWPers but the majority of them should fold quickly.

 

Btw, I hate using AWP in tournament play. When we played at AppLAN I wasn’t going to use the AWP at all but got AWPed the first round and decided to counter that retardedness by AWPing the entire team (yes entire) the next round. Their guy tried to outAWP me but decided to quit trying after 3 or 4 rounds of failing at it. The AWP worked well there because their team was made of epic fail but in general having an AWP puts your team down a player because you have to camp in the back. Some maps allow for this, other don’t. Generally if I do take an AWP I try to rush with it and at least stick with my team when they engage.

I was hoping for a set number from both teams. I guess it depends on how balanced the “random” teams are. If they are truly balanced then your +1/-1 system would be fine but if one team obviously outclasses the other there’s no reason to doublepunish the losing team.

Keep in mind that even if you did get the arcade side of the Cat’s Den, there are like 3 tables over there now and the Cat’s Den would not be happy if we stole 90% of their tables. Plus even with all the tables in there we wouldn’t have enough sitting space so we’d have to bring in more which means we have to get them from the UC anyway and move them ourselves because the Cat’s Den doesn’t have a setup crew.

 

I really hate to naysay on this because it would be nice to have it there but keep in mind the UC staff did a absolutely superb job at the last LAN. If they continue to set things up EXACTLY as we want I would be hesitant before moving away.

You can now search in specified areas of the forum by using the advance option.

I’ve used similar programs before and they really don’t help much.

 

To be fair I tested it on a VM and got 5% reduction in ping. Considering the stuff that it’s doing in the background I won’t be running it on any of my mains.
