Again I say, I approve. You can rest assure it takes alot to get my approval. All of the changes I understand without needing further explanation. I do see small problems in the future, but nothing that needs to be addressed at this time. Everything that needed to be addressed and modified, was. We should be happy that the constitution is a living document as it should be, and not a joke as it was. (I mean the line about Mitchell Pate having to go to the lans at the direction of the president) I couldn’t get the votes to remove that line, so I knew I couldn’t get the rest of it changed. Congratulations guys for getting this done so quickly and making it very professional.

This is a good idea, though unless we move the comments from the minutes thread…don’t think it will work because people are used to posting under the minutes. But I love the idea.

The club’s SOLE purpose is to bring prospective students to WCU, increase student retention and to keep them on campus. Granted, by serving the needs of prospective students, you should therefore serve the needs of current students and alumni concurrently.

We need to remember what we are doing here. This is why we are given so much money from WCU. Because we can prove that we do indeed bring students to WCU and have increased student retention. We are a family. The original founders are still around. The club was founded Spring 2005 and as you can tell 5 years later (long after the original founders left,2006) the club is still here. Please remember as you discuss things, that we are all here for a common purpose-the purpose of the club. We encourage a healthy environment of online gaming. Whether that takes place on a PC or Console.

If any one has any questions about the history of the club, what it is about, the constitution as it was originally written, the purpose of the club-feel free to ask.

What will be discussed (purpose) at the meeting, other than the vote for Treasurer?

I just have a few things to add.

When did Josrocket become a Alumni Advisor?

Now Josh Schwartz said that he didn’t start this, but Josh you do realize you are hurting yourself as well? As you are also no longer a student at WCU, you also will lose all privileges. But of course you retain the privilege to offer suggestions, and opinions as well.

If nothing else is answered please answer the following.

First, What is the alumni doing/have done that is not in accordance with the best interest of this club. Second, I have not seen any justification to why the need to have access and privileges as well as certain positions of the alumni removed. Third, Still waiting to see the link from SGA. Forth, why the need to have the constitution completely redone.

SGA has never been a motivating factor of this club. We have never gotten any real substantial money from SGA. Not more than ($500), even then we weren’t allowed to touch the money even when we went through all the proper channels. Even when we started this club, we didn’t go through SGA. As we don’t answer to SGA. We are the only club on campus that’s purpose is to bring students to WCU and to keep them on campus. We are also the only club that can prove we do that. We answer to Residential Living. The one that pays for our Servers. Yes, we did everything we could to appease SGA, we went to the meetings every week, we turned all paperwork. They just couldn’t handle a club that was bigger than theirs and they didn’t have any power over. I am speaking from experience, I was often one of the ones that went to meetings, and turned in the paperwork. I went to budget meetings, etc.

Who pays for the domain? Who maintains the website? Who built the website? Who paid for the website? Who make sure the redirects are working? Who writes the codes for the servers? Who writes the codes for anything? Who has a working relationship with Keith Corzine? Who has a working relationship with ITS? Who even knows who our Faculty sponsor(s) are? Who knows who our Staff Sponsor is? Who has been invited to the Chancellors’ home to have dinner because of his work with the gaming club? (This is just me ranting-Ignore if you wish)

We used to be able to get pizza from where ever we wanted, we just told them and they wrote up the purchase order. We chose Papa’s because it was cheaper, thus amounting in more pizza for the guys to eat. We need to look into having Pepsi or Coke (probably Coke) sponsor us as well. I have had Coke sponsor my Fraternity (Alpha Kappa Psi) before, so I know it can be done. I also had Ingles sponsors us and they gave us alot of food(Cakes, doughnuts, etc). Granted this was all back in 2005. Be creative guys, their are people out there who will give us free stuff for advertising them.

Quick question, though it was approached at the club meeting a while back, it doesn’t appear to have been mentioned at this meeting. Who will make aforementioned changed to the constitution? Again I would like to reiterate, I would love to do it.

Even though as a school we don’t care much for App, we as a gaming club owe a lot to App gaming club…so please keep that in mind when you attend. We want to work with App not *edited* them off. We were respectful every time they came to ours-we even housed them once. And they housed us several times as well.

Article III Duties of the Executive Council:

In short, it is the job of every executive staff member and council leader to run and operate each LAN event. If he or she is unable to fulfill their duties, it is their duty to find a suitable replacement and to notify the executive staff of such replacement within 72 hours of the beginning of the LAN event.

Yea, read the constitution, it is all in there. thanks.

so again, so long as it is done everyone is happy.

OMG. You guys are the reason I’m still around. NO ONE READS THE CONSTITUTION. It says clearly in two sections who takes attendance at the LANS. Let me show you guys so that we can put this one to bed.

Article III Duties of the Executive Council:

It is the duty of the Executive Secretary to record the events of each meeting, as well as take attendance and keep track of all LAN events and activities sponsored by the Club; these records shall also be made accessible by the Secretary to all members of the Club within twenty-four (24) hours after the activity or meeting has ended. It is also the duty of the Executive Secretary to actively seek out prospective members and to preserve a positive perception of the Western Carolina University Gaming Club and its active members and to ensure that active members are able to fulfill their requirements stated forth in this statement of constitution as well as further member relations and set forth their responsibilities within the Club.

Article VII Meetings and LAN events:

At the LAN event, the secretary must take attendance, and record the event in such ways to keep the history of the Club updated. It is also the duty of the Historian to make such visual history available and accessible to all members and alumni of the Club.

Now can we put this one to bed already…just read the constitution!

To sum it up: It is the duty of the secretary to sit at the door and take attendance at the LANS, and at meetings, and at any other event the gaming club has!

Let’s work together to better the situation and not point any fingers. This time lets make sure that if we elect someone for the Marketing Administrator position they FULLY understand the time requirements needed. Either way, come on exec’s lets pull our weight to make sure that the club continues to prosper.

So long as the results get posted by an executive and we all have fun at the lan its a win win situation. But please remember, I have been in your shoes, I have been there done that. It really is not that hard to take attendance at the door and keep track of the lan. This is where teamwork comes in handy. The council leaders who set up the tournaments should have the winners for you. if you want to be more active in the lan, you can have someone stand in temporarily for you while you go get pizza, or see the winners of tournaments, or talk to Jason about whatever. Let’s work together.

Adambomb says-thank you for your concern, lets work together team.

72 people to attend a LAN Event=not bad…good job execs. As always keep striving to be better and bigger, but you’re obviously still doing somethings right, because people showed!

It is the job of the secretary to record attendance. However, unless the secretary wants to sit at the door taking attendance (doing his or her job) and just let the treasurer take money (which is just his or her job)= two people sitting at the door. Ephriam, it makes no difference if the treasurer or secretary make the post so long as it is posted. If there is an error, would you know why it was made or how to fix it? The person sitting at the door taking attendance needs to post, because they are the one that knows if any people were not listed, because they either came in early or way late. The Treasurer has always posted the lan attendance, so lets not be finicky now.

How about the person or persons sitting at the door will report the lan attendance. Preferably an executive.

I have a Wii Fit, and I love it. Yes you can cheat, as you can with nearly all games, but if you do the work, it does truly give you a work out that you can see in a mere weeks time. I’ve been using mine to shed a few pounds for the wedding, and though I’m not losing weight right now, I can visually see the difference and I have only worked out on it for 2-3 weeks. Just my few cents worth. If you have any other questions, hit me up.

I remember both as I took both pictures and all pictures that we have before the Forsyth LAN (3 LANS at Belk 358), I also took most of the pictures we have from the Forsyth LAN and the Multipurpose room A & B. Good times, great after-parties before everyone started going to them. I liked the parties better when we used them for executive bonding time instead of everyone getting drunk and puking…not as much fun.

Its disappointing that a past executive feels this way. We appreciate your contribution to this club, and as always we only hope the best for this club. We all enjoy this club and its community very much and no one here wants to see it disappear. It is true that it has been said many times the club has taken a downturn, but to be honest I actually see a much needed upturn in the club since the new president has taken over. The executives seem to be working more closely and more united than ever. The community is growing, and I hear we are gaining more sponsors. We just got our box from ITS and Housing, so we are taking positive strides. As always we all appreciate constructive criticism, as constructive criticism helps make this club a better more enjoyable experience for everyone. I know several people off hand that may live at least hundreds of miles away love this club, and the people in it, but also do alot for this club. Alot of our server admins do not attend wcu, most of our alumni do not live close to western, even one of our clubs executives resides quite a distance from campus. But you also see that most of those people make the drive just to help this club grow and expand.
