The Vice President of the gaming club at APP. has asked us to come to their LAN Jan. 24! They will have Brawl, MELEE (HELL YEA!) and possibly Soul Calibur IV! I think now would be a great time to talk about the club maybe sponsoring people to go and beat some *edited* at APP.
i love how a post about their event is on our website before its even on their own. lol
yall should totally get a group together and represent. SGA funded 90% of a trip/gas/lodging when a group of the pc guys went up their 3 years ago… its all in how you word the application make it a learning experience to growth the club.
Have funI know I could get a Soul Calibur IV, SSBB and SSBM group together to kick some *edited* and possibly win! So maybe we should get Bitey to talk to SGA about sponsoring us because I would LOVE to go and participate. As far as PC games go, Im not sure because because my “connection” over at APP didnt say anything about PC games.
Even though as a school we don’t care much for App, we as a gaming club owe a lot to App gaming club…so please keep that in mind when you attend. We want to work with App not *edited* them off. We were respectful every time they came to ours-we even housed them once. And they housed us several times as well.
Well if it comes down to it and we can only take a certain amount of people, I guess we could have a try out or something for the different games. But do not get your hopes up people, we don’t even know if the club can sponsor us yet. Hopefully though, we will know soon.
If I can’t go as part of a sponsorship, I can just pay my own way.
Also, there is nothing wrong with a little healthy rivalry. That’s why we all joined CGL. True, nothing much has come of it, but I’m all for team spirit within the club.
Trust me Ephiram, if its teams Brawl they’re gonna do, u and Scare are definitely gonna be going with us. Honestly though, Im hoping we can take a lot of people if this happens, it would be a lot of fun.
Why don’t they come to ours anymore? I love playing against them but this has to go both ways to work. I don’t remember seeing anyone from ASU at the last few LANs.
Also, hate to be a negative nancy but I wouldn’t count on SGA to fund our travel. Pretty much every department is broke.
That is true but I will likely come back that night – you can ride with my kip. And we will split the gas money and each pay the $10 fee; its not like it’s THAT expensive to go.
yeah,, if they dont fund the grandroom doubt they would the trip, but cha nvr know.
Also it wouldn’t hurt to ask the new guys running apps club (since everyone’s in ruff times),, to see if WCU students could attend free since they are traveling, and we can return the favor if they come to our LAN events. seems fair to me to spread the love and both clubs prosper from the growth of more people.. on top of the friendly rivalry.. anywho just my thoughts, just trying to help you guiz out
I’m definitely up for going, just need to figure out carpools cause the melee prize is for me. I wanted to go to their last one for melee but gas was so expensive the prize wouldn’t have paid for the trip.

That would bring the cost to attend both LANs to about the same.
Ok cool, thanks Bitey. Oh and we have had some guys from APP come up and play during both of our LANs (Devin and Andrew)

I understand were you are coming from MP but u have to look at it this way, our club probably has more console players than PC and they are probably the same way. It may not be a problem for our hard core PC people to lug their PC with them down to APP, but to most people, its just not worth it. Especially if they know we are gonna kick their asses

I don’t believe we have sent any personal invites out to app to see if they even would like to come to our events for awhile. They dont come to our website just as most of you dont go to theirs.
Building a network with other schools gaming clubs would be a nice objective for 2009
Any news on if or how this thing is going down? Whether or not there will be sponsorship we need to at least get carpools together etc for those of us who wanna go kick some *edited*.
its an unofficial LAN from what i’ve heard. Its something that the Smash guys are putting together b/c its totaly just smash. Im real good friends with Angel aka Cool and Devin from app and from what i’ve been told is supposed to be huge. I havent heard about anything else besides brawl though, but i definitly agree we should sponsor ppl to go. I for one want to go to watch but if ppl car pool it would be real cheap. But on a side note i have had alot of app guys wanting to know about our next LAN so when will that be?
I’m good friends with Devin and Angel too and Devin told me that they were going to hold a Brawl and Melee tournament. Honestly, no one knows when our next LAN will be because we are not gonna have the meeting to decided it for another 2 to 3 weeks. I want to have the meeting sooner than that so we can get the word out to people. And on another note, as soon as I get back on campus and I have some free time, I’m gonna try to have a talk with some of the Executives over at APP and try to see if we can do something like a rival’s LAN or something like that. If anyone would be interested in doing this let me by mailing me here on the forums or just post it to show them that we have support for something like this.
