Participant72 people to attend a LAN Event=not bad…good job execs. As always keep striving to be better and bigger, but you’re obviously still doing somethings right, because people showed!

ParticipantThe date was a bit unfortunate, what with some other events taking place at the same time. Even though the turnout was smaller than usual, it was still a lot of fun.
November 9, 2008 at 10:40 pm #62621lootool
Participantyeah..I think a lot of people had unusual circumstances as to why they couldnt make it..and most of those people were PC players..I know of a handful of CSers that didnt come cuz 1.6 was not a tourney..even some from out of state to add to that…LooT.
November 9, 2008 at 10:40 pm #62622lootool
ParticipantHow many have we been bringing in lately??? Loot.
November 9, 2008 at 11:09 pm #62626MasterP
ParticipantThe date shouldn’t matter because it was almost as bad at the last LAN. We are doing something fundamentally wrong, either in advertisement or retainment and blamming the date isn’t going to help with either.

ParticipantThere was a serious lack of fliers this last time. I heard there was some sort of problem with printing.
November 10, 2008 at 12:16 am #62644Ashley Faulkner
ParticipantLet’s work together to better the situation and not point any fingers. This time lets make sure that if we elect someone for the Marketing Administrator position they FULLY understand the time requirements needed. Either way, come on exec’s lets pull our weight to make sure that the club continues to prosper.

It’s called there were 2 home football games during the time that I was trying to print them. I can’t stop the printing of football programs for flyers. I did my best to get some printed and almost got fired for printing them.
For future: we don’t have to have the games listed on all the flyers. we could have some generic flyers to post early then after the games are official we can post more.

ParticipantFor some reason, I feel like we are not doing anything wrong, it seems to me that some of this has to do with apathy, we are no the only club with dwindling members and community, the theater group University Players also has had a huge drop in members that attend meetings. So to me it either seems that it is apathy or maybe some people just don’t like having to haul their computer? Just throwing out ideas because I don’t feel like it is something we have been doing wrong, because we are doing the same thing that has been done since the beginning, I know that consoles are successful because they have such a die-hard community right now.

ParticipantHonestly I think a general club flyer stating that we exist, have forums and website, and we have forums might boost our on-campus presence. That and maybe if we could just set up a table on a regular basis then maybe we’ll see things pick up.

November 10, 2008 at 12:16 pm #62751Nalgenie
Participanthow bout to settle the flyer issue just blame me! cause I know certain people are thinking it right now. I did my best. So, how bout we move on and start thinking of advertising for future LANs. The past is the past, you can’t change it. So please stop talking about how *edited*y advertising was this time

ParticipantI don’t know about PCs, as I don’t know how many or if any App state guys come down for our PC tourney’s during the LAN. But lets not forget gentlemen that App State held their LAN on the exact same day. I know for a fact we usually have a number of guys come down from App for the Console tournaments, but because of the DATE, they remained up at App instead of paying for gas to drive all this way to compete in a tournament when they could compete in a sub-par one where they were at. As far as advertising I don’t think we can point any fingers here, as it seems that we have been having problems with it for a while now, regardless of who is in charge of the situation, and with that being said it comes down to more of a fundamental issue as opposed to any one individual.

Like I said after the last LAN, if we have to pay for the fliers DO IT. We have got to start advertising more and trying to get free stuff is obviously cripling our ability to do so. I’ll repeat the example I gave before, if we pay $50 for advertising and bring in 20 extra people we just doubled our investment.
