ParticipantI won the first one. And yeah.. I won’t go into reason why it happened when you left Western.

ParticipantDepends on what the team is there for. If the team is there to play competitively in the tournaments for your prizes, then yeah, the club will suffer.
But if you have a team come in and do some exhibition matches just for fun, then it may draw a crowd.
Console wise, if I could get Final Boss in our LAN to play exhibition games, then we’d have a metric *edited* ton of console players.
Oh Malley
ParticipantYeah. Now we’re working on fulfilling that requirement.
Oh Malley
ParticipantYeah.. I really need to get back into playing this at least occasionally. Give me a reason, time and place, and I will.

ParticipantAn LWood study room is the best option, unless we can talk to the RD and get more tables or something down in the lobby for the night.

ParticipantIt’s a collaborated effort between multiple companies. It’d be different if Harmonix was the sole contributer to the game. Now you have RedOctane, Activision, and Neversoft instead of RedOctane, Activision, and Harmonix. Not that big of a difference. And so far, the only difference visibly is the HUD and graphics. Same mechanics, same game.
This isn’t going to be a repeat of the Twisted Metal/989 Studios transition.

ParticipantI remember suggesting something of the sort somewhere. Maybe even on another forum. Another thing to consider is a site like GameBattles and contacting people you know at different colleges, or myspace, or facebook whatever and have them make their teams/clans on there and do scrimmages and ladder matches in numerous games.

ParticipantThe demo is okay?
Better layout for picking songs. Songs are good. Better graphically. A LOT better in that respect. And the HUD is improved in my opinion, showing note streaks and more detailed design and fits the overall theme well.
And it’s not made by a different company. The only difference is Harmonix got switched out for Neversoft. Harmonix is working on Rock Band. That’s why.

ParticipantThe point of the cancellation of memberships was to increase club revenue. Not just because of hassle, or so I recall. We’re losing $10 per person that buys a membership. Honestly, $5 is not that much at all and I think everyone can afford it. We need the extra money to buy prizes to help attract people, thus attracting sponsors to cover what our current ones don’t (such as consoles) or get bigger and better prizes for our current tournaments.
That’s what I remember from the meeting and I think its a good idea, at least for the time being, to not have memberships.

Ranked, Social, Customs. Whatever’s fine with me.

ParticipantJust to say on defense for the new M.A., he was told at the meeting prior to the LAN that the banner was already taken care of and never came into possession of it. Last we heard, Kuros has it. M.A. can’t fix what he doesn’t have.

ParticipantHalo 3 would easily be a crowd fav, but I’m up for bringing down Guitar Hero, plus any other shooters people may want to try out (Shadowrun, R6V) or even Gears.
Oh Malley
ParticipantI’d say go ahead and draw a floor plan of what we have, anticipate about the same numbers as last LAN, and go from there. Just note, everyone clusters together due to wanting to sit with friends, etc. and thus creates the high demand on insufficient equipment.
Oh Malley
ParticipantHence why I’m encouraging people to post responses and suggestions as well. I was thinking Thursday/Fri as well. Either works for me. We also probably need to pick a definite location.
Oh Malley
ParticipantNow… all that needs to happen now is have Mitch get the system link ports open again.
Oh Malley
ParticipantAnyways, what will be the business of meeting? (Next LAN, general Club business, etc).
Oh Malley
ParticipantYeah. Definitely let me know when it happens again.
Oh Malley
ParticipantGood thing I wasn’t there.
Eh.. I would like to get some good 16-man infection games going. Those are fun.Oh Malley
ParticipantAnd who cares about rank? At this point, everybody’s still sifting their way through the top. And honestly, I remembering playing with good, top notch players who were still level 1’s by Halo 2’s matchmaking rankings.
Oh Malley
ParticipantHonestly, it wasn’t the campaign that got Halo popular. So, I don’t mind the weak storyline, since I never bought it for the story.

ParticipantIt’s probably an issue wih the split screen as far as the co-op goes. And same old gimmicks? The features they have added are awesome and just awestriking in a few cases.
Campaign scoring – A good reason to play campaign more than once. Makes it a challenge, (going for speed, turning on skull effects, medal kills etc) to achieve the highest score.
Gametypes – The ability to change about any and all settings of a particular gametype from the lobby. No having to go back out and make a new gametype.
Appearance – Ability to customize your armor and emblem. Not just three difference colors each and addition of new emblems, but by completing certain achievements or playing through campaign, you unlock new pieces of armor.
The Forge – Nice for editting a map to cater to a certain gametype. Plus fun to goof around in.
Theater – Now this is by far the most amazing thing by far. You can go back through the last 20 games you played and watch them. Sounds kinda lame at first. But the game actually re-renders the entire game. You can switch between players, moving the camera around them, or do a free fly-by in a spectator cam. Just so you can see how bad you really owned those guys. Or see strategy flaws and etc. In addition to that, you can take screenshots and upload them to your slot in Bungie as well as save the film yourself.. and then go download it onto your computer for video editting later.
And honeslty, as far as multiplayer goes, all the maps are fun. You just have to play with more people. Just because you only have 4 people to play with doesn’t mean the maps are bad. Go find more people to play with. My favorite maps now are Epitaph, Construct, and Guardian. And all the weapons are balanced and have a realistic feel (recoil and such).
This game is far better than Halo 2, reminiscent of Halo 1, and just shows what’s capable on the 360 alongside the support from the developers. Bungie provides a lot of services for their community on this one, you have to give them props for that.

ParticipantWell, once I get my copy (AHEMKUROSCOUGHCOUGHCOUGH), I’ll be on and playing. Add L Oh Malley L.

ParticipantWell in retrospect, they changed the gameplay of Halo 2 from its predecessor (removal of health system, grenade throwing, weapons, jumping, etc). And I have played the Beta. The gameplay was nothing too terribly new, and the features they added only boosted the level of gameplay even more. It added a new element of strategy to the game. Halo 2 was purely run-and-gun. Now with the bubble shield, force-fields (on doors and passages), trip mines, the portable gravity lift, etc has added a little more caution and wit. Granted, the gameplay is still as fast paced as it ever was. Plus the film capture feature and ability to upload up to 5 of your best game films is nice. Also, the new emblems, call sign system, and larger color palette allows for more customization while the game’s interface allows you to change everything from the lobby, your appearance, game type, network choice, and post game stats is a plus. Maybe they didn’t want to overhype it and let the game speak for itself.
Oh Malley
ParticipantI’m just wondering when Kuros will get the copy I won to me.

Oh Malley
ParticipantWell, now that I’ve won a copy, I won’t have to wait til this weekend to play. So I’ll be on early Tuesday. I only have 2 classes, at 11 and 5, so whenever I’m not there, I’ll be on.
Oh Malley
ParticipantYeah. The only problem I saw with this LAN was getting the fliers up late. Good dispersal of them, but if we had them up even just a week longer, we could’ve had a larger turnout. But hey, I know a vast majority, if not all, had a good time during the tourneys. All in good fun, and no hard feelings.
Now… we need to make fliers for the gaming site and the forums. Get the community to build back up to help support the growing LANs.
Oh Malley
ParticipantEh.. doesn’t bother me really. Just as long as you’re not two inches from my face. Also, feel free to take pics of people hanging out and forming a community too. A lot of the pictures I liked of me were me and my friends just standing around and hanging out for a little down time.
Oh Malley
ParticipantThe guild exists regardless of the campaign, but we have several members who have Factions. We are Luxon and in an alliance but that may change due to lack of activity from the alliance.
Oh Malley
ParticipantEh, I have a copy preordered back home and I’ll probably be getting it a week or so after it launches.
