one of the TF2 servers is going away and we can’t get the upgrade paid for unless we can show proof that we need the upgrade… i.e. the server has to max out at some point. now we can do that for a night, turn off the server, and operate normal until the upgrade happens, but we need SOMETHING to bring to WCU to prove we need the upgrade.

A company merged like that can’t succeed in 2 major markets and are now starting to fail in both, IMO.Well luckily for AMD, ATI is starting to turn out some decently competitive products (have you read anything on the new ATI IGP? it bests lowend discrete nvidia cards!). The problem AMD has is this whole Phenom thing… and they have so much invested in it there is really no way out. Plus ATI getting behind the ball with their last couple of generations of cards means it will take quite some time before they start making money again. I honestly don’t know how they can survive.

It seems to be more of a hit on the console side of things than on the PC side; plus most PC gamers seem to prefer UT2k4
I will let this ATI vs NVidia debate continue elsewhere, but I did find a nice argument online that you all might be interested in

The last ATI card I owned had absolutely terrible driver support. had to quit playing CSS for almost 6 months because my drivers crashed Steam.exe.your ATI card was FIVE gernerations old. I even admit that ATI drivers used to be terrible (I had a desktop X850XT). But the lol question is why didn’t you just roll back to the old driver?

Ok to close this argument let me just say that neither company has perfect drivers and any issues you experience are typically from a combination of hardware, configuration, and the software you are trying to run. Rarely do drivers react 100% identical on 2 different systems, from either ATI or nVidia.
2 years ago, I wouldn’t buy an ATI card, but things have changed and I think they have improved.
