Participantbest new map this server has had in a while…minus my hiatus…but its a great map. Echo is a bit weird, but livable. Makes me miss the church map a bit, which no ones computer could handle, what was it? Corse? Ha! Anyway, a definite yes!

ParticipantMy computer ran it fine. -.-
July 24, 2008 at 9:19 am #52269peanut
ParticipantSo did mine, even my puny, wimpy, dorky, mac handled it, but on half settings. But i miss it. I loved that map. And good morning.
But seriously, keep this map.

July 24, 2008 at 11:47 am #52285XRAY
Participanti still get that echo problem after the next few maps of de_beroth,but once i restart css is not a problem for me anymore. Is there anyway we can take the echo out like when we took out the cabinets in cs_office?
July 24, 2008 at 2:57 pm #52294Bitey
ParticipantSomebody mentioned something about a command like roomtype 1 or something?
July 24, 2008 at 3:38 pm #52299MasterP
ParticipantHate to rain on everyone’s parade but I’m not going to add a custom map with Beta in it’s name to a full time slot in the rotation until it’s been tested for several weeks and is proven to not empty the server. I am willing to give it the old Deaglezknives slot at 10 minutes for testing and if it does well I’ll slowly increase it’s time to what the rest have.
If it causes problems that force you to restart CSS it’s going to disappear from the maplist fast.

Its a final release, they just left the name.

Give it the old Deagleknivez slot at 10 minutes and let’s see how it does.

July 24, 2008 at 9:20 pm #52332Bitey
ParticipantI was hoping we could do it server side so people don’t have to do that.
July 25, 2008 at 8:58 am #52375clava
Participantyeah its better to figure out a way the server can do it rather then the player whos a guest in the serverrr to where they wont want to fix it every round
July 25, 2008 at 2:42 pm #52404MasterP
ParticipantSteam removed a good portion of the remote client commands so it’s doubtful but if it’s something that requires a manual correction after playing the map go ahead and remove it from the rotation. No matter how awesome the map it’s not worth it.
July 25, 2008 at 5:42 pm #52414Bitey
ParticipantWhoa its not like it is that bad, I hardly even notice it.
July 25, 2008 at 6:23 pm #52418peanut
ParticipantI agree with Bitey. And I have never had the echo continue past a single round, and most of the time it doesn’t stay at all.
July 25, 2008 at 6:31 pm #52419Liam
ParticipantShooting down an obviously popular map that you haven’t played based on comments from people that vary as widely as these is not really the best course of action.
Researching the issue and looking for a possible fix would be more beneficial in the long run and would give us another avenue to expand our rotation out and make the server even more popular than it is now. As it stands we could really do with adding a second CSS server and putting a redirector in place like TF2 has.

Considering the map was added and played without the CL’s knowledge or appoval I would say I’ve been more than open about the whole deal. I don’t want maps on the server that cause problems with our players. It shouldn’t matter if they are considered big or small, they are still problems that shouldn’t be in the final release of a map.
How is preventing future complaints in any way a problem?
This is just a precedent I don’t want to set. Find the solution and you can keep the map.

I will not split a 28 slot into two 16 or 18 slots, not when the 28 comes close to capacity on a regular basis and I don’t want to falsely advertise the server as being full or send people where they don’t want to go.
Now if I can have a 2nd 18-24 slot server let me know and I’ll be more than happy to get you a config.

It was something I saw while getting a replacement map for a broken CS map and I tossed it up to test one night when I was on. Bitey actually tested it and I’ve yet to play it.
As for the second server, if we take one of the TF2 servers down theres no reason we can’t run another CS:S server as long as we keep it at 24 players and 66 tic.

Considering neither TF2 stays full on it’s own and both can be populated fairly easily we don’t need both but that’s discussion for another thread.

ParticipantIf there is demand for a second CSS server, you have my permission to take down the 24/7 TF2 server.

ParticipantThen I’ll toss up a vote.
Back on topic: If you can find a solution or remote client command to run at the beginning of the next map I’ll be more than happy to toss it in the rotation. Otherwise I can’t let a map with known problems go into the rotation. As I said earlier, that’s a bridge I just don’t want to cross.
Since the map is popular I’ll leave it on the server and let admins vote it in as a funmap so long as they tell people how to fix any problems that arise.

Being as I don’t know what the problem is since I haven’t played it, I’ll load it up and look when I get home and see what I can see.

ParticipantEcho is fixed via the cfg file. It still occurs on the map in enclosed spaces but not all over it anymore.
July 26, 2008 at 7:48 am #52467Bitey
ParticipantWhy isn’t my approval of a map enough? The only problem that I have found with the map is the echoing, and you can’t really call that a problem it is more of a nuisance if that. Haven’t seen you around lately on the source server and I have had a lot of extra time since I don’t have a job anymore till I get back up to Western, not pointing any fingers I am just saying that is probably why you missed out on testing the map, it has been played several days now, every time I get on somebody asks to go to this map.
July 26, 2008 at 9:52 am #52470Nickname
ParticipantIf the echoing is fixed for the outdoor parts of the map, then it gets a thumbs up for me.
