ParticipantI have done this before and I remember installing XP after Vista and it removed vista’s bootloader. Threw in the vista disk and ran startup repair and I was good to go. It can be tricky but we will see what we have.

yea, i just dont like stock fans that much, and i lied, i would need 4x 120mm and 1x 80mm
Look at the case, you do not need the 80MM fan as it will just add more sound and virtually no improvement in airflow.
Nickname
Participantwhy? it comes with 3 fans already, I would save your money until you get the computer and put it together and see if you even need more fans.

Participantthats just b/c the ppl there are 2 types of ppl that play on jiggly’s: awful noobs and ridiculous ppl that play 24/7. Teams with mixes of both get stuck in standstills all the time.

Actually the pre-release versions of the QX9650 and the new 45nm chips work great on the 680i chipsets and have been used in tech show demos all over the place. Apparently Nvidia refused to give Intel a license for SLI technology so they made the release versions of all 45nm processors electrically incompatible with the 600 series chipset. They CAN be fully compatible if Intel decides to get over themselves.I’ve also heard of people using QX9650s in newer 680i motherboards and actually being able to POST and boot Windows with them. However most have had to disable 2 of the cores to do it and the few who have been able to use all 4 cores have had to reduce the FSB back to 1066.
Nvidia may make a BIOS update in the next year or so, if not it’s probably not a big loss. The Q6600 should bottom out in the next few months to clear them out of inventory and I doubt I’ll run into anything that’ll give it a run for it’s money within the next 2-3 years. The chip is extremely powerful for the price.
I remember that. I was just about to pull the trigger and buy an evga 680i board then I saw that the new 45nm quad cores werent supported but the dual cores were. I was like WTF? So I looked into it and yeah the chances of a bios fix ever coming out for it are very low. In fact if I recall, nvidia released a statement saying that they would support the new 45nm quads…. on the 780i. *edited*ed off a lot of 680i buyers that were told the quads were going to be supported IIRC.
