Those are some loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong running jokes. Win2k was probably the best client OS for a workplace back in the day though. I’ll stand by that.Best client, yes. Best for gaming? Not a chance. Win98 idling with just Explorer and Systray was the bomb back in the day.

ParticipantI assume you’re NOT putting that one in oil
That build looks pretty good Andy.
I’m still surprised they let you graduate.

I had no idea we had so many…who is hosting them? The webserver has about 8. Adam and David are hosting a probably that many as well.

Well we’re never getting that one back, and even that one sucked…But anyways…how hard is it to swap a player or two every now and then…do your job? Easy answer is easy…We have it on archive but can’t use it without the risk of being sued.
The best solution is as Yahoo said. You have admin for a reason keeping gameplay balanced is one of those reasons.

Hexflex has been pming me about how he cannot come on the forums and read anything because the font is insanely small. (see his screenie for info) I suggested he changed to a different skin and see if that fixes it and it didn’t apparently. Any idea on how he can fix it or what may be the issue?Tell him to undo what he did to make ALL the font that size. That’s not a WCU problem, it’s a browser setting.

Sorry, i have about 4 redirects up, theres possibly some more as well.We have well over a dozen. Probably why CS16 jumps from emptyg to half full so fast.

What other ATB are we talking about here? This one is really bad and most of the time its more effective for the admins to just balance it out themselves. There’s aren’t many. The Sourcemod website only has one alternative that would work and it does basically the same thing except it uses much less information when calculating team strength and all the calculations are done locally.

(I know it’s been moved to a VM).Which I’ll continue to say “I told you so”. That short term solution was a huge long term mistake.

I could have done that 6 years ago.

Sometimes the ATB lags so it has swapped the bomb before. On a side note this ATB is very fail and never balances the teams good. The ATB lag is caused ENTIRELY by the website lag.
At the end of the round it sends a command to the webserver to pull stats for the players in it and calculates each team’s strength, when the website it slow it creates a massive delay and causes people to be switched after the next round starts. It not balancing teams correctly is most likely caused by the webserver dropping the balance data completely.
The only options I have is to put the other teambalancer back on (which was even worse) or take it off and have no balancing. The 2nd option is already off the table so the real question is which balancer was worse?

That card might use 60w, probably less.

What’s wrong with yours? I hate mine WTB new one, but Kstone restrictions are in place blocking all attempts to spend money on PC components.Nothing really wrong with it. I’d like to expand but I’m out of easily accessible space. To add any more SATA I’d need a controller card. My PSU will need to be replaced in about a year due to capacitor aging. Cooling pump probably needs replacing.
It’s basically got about a year left in it before things start breaking down. For the near 24/7 usage I’ve gotten out of it, I’m not complaining.

Here’s the thing though. There is very little that my pc, Citan’s hunk of junk, or Raven’s PC can do that yours cannot.Which is why I don’t care. It may not be the best but at nearly 2 years old it still keeps pace and when you strip everything else away that’s all that really matters.
All I have to do is spend $250 on a new video card and it easily catches up to you guys.

ParticipantJust for those wondering, because I don’t care about this competition at all. When this set foot on campus it was the best and a few months later it wasn’t. As most already know, that’s fine with me.

As for your claim that graphics cards are not the same they actaully are. The important parts all come from the same place. I have a brother who works in the semiconductor industry and has first hand knowledge of this seeing as how he dealt with TSMC for his job. Im not an an electronic engineer and I never will be.That’s like saying that since everyone uses the same processors that all motherboards are equally as good. Please tell me you know the difference between XFX and PC Chips. They have the same chipsets and processors but one manages to have month+ uptimes and the other is lucky to stay up for more than an hour.
Same GPU =/= Same card

You don’t always have to pay for it either, hint hint.

ok so lets start with the ram. When I got the processor there was not alot of ram out for it. Its different now but again when I got the processor yeah….The i7 motherboards and triple channel RAM came out the same week. Trust me, we looked and wanted.
Nothing you say can excuse that RAM setup. Seriously, spend $100 and get 6GB of triple channel DDR3-1600. As it is now, my 4 year old laptop probably uses it’s DDR2 more efficiently than your machine.

The second thing is the hds samsung spinpoint series hard drives have a much higher mtbf than western digital and therefore shouldn’t have had any problems crashing, which is why they were selected. For starters, MTBF is really pointless in the scheme of things. What really matters is the head load/unload operations. Still, I’m not sure where you’re getting that false info of who’s more reliable than who so let me break it down for you.
Samsung’s Spinpoint F1 DT series has an MTBF of 600,000 hours and 50,000 head cycles. For their “high-end” drives this is extremely low.
Western Digital’s Blue series, their basic line, has an MTBF of 1 million hours and 50,000 head cycles. WD’s Black series, their upper-end consumer, has an MTBF of 1.2 million hours and 300,000 head cycles. WD’s RE3 series, their “high-end”, has an MTBF of 1.2 million hours and 300,000 head cycles.
So yeah, WD is about the best you can get short of server drives at which point HP and Seagate magically become good picks.
Also, why not RAID5? You’ve got the money, space, ports, and power. RAID5 with 5-6 WD RE3s would have silenced this thread hours ago.

Now for the last thing which is the brand selection. When it comes to chips they are all made in the same factory TSMC in Seattle. They sell chips to the board makers. Then why are some really good and others so terrible? Are you going to sit there and tell me that an MSI card is the same as an XFX? I sure hope not.
Btw, BFG is good but you’ll need that lifetime warranty. Out of all the high performance cards their failure rate is, well, stunningly high. High enough to where I’d rather just spend less and get the just as powerful yet more reliable eVGA card.
Also, in the picture all 3 of those video cards have different heatsinks. Are they matched cards?

Oh and as for the power supply….maybe research more cuz yeah it is SLI certified…here is the link. http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/product/powe…w0216/w0216.aspYou said Toughpower, which is: http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx…245&ID=1505
The link you gave points to a Toughpower CM. They aren’t the same.
Btw, the internet says you only need a 900w supply for your setup, that’s with efficiency and capacitor aging accounted for. Just sayin…

ParticipantLoving the dust on your air cooled gear.
Citan you realize your RAM is running in single channel mode right? That’s computer building 101.
Oh and btw, 3/4 of your hard drives will be dead in the not so distant future. I wouldn’t let a Hitachi or Samsung drive in my house, let alone one of my computers, it’s asking for trouble.
For as much money as you dumped into this, your brand selection on the important parts was absolutely terrible. Even the brands you got right, like the Thermaltake PS, isn’t certified for Nvidia SLI and it’s rails are unbalanced. I mean, read a FAQ or something because for as powerful as you think it is, I could have taken 20% less money and built the same thing. Maybe even saved more than that.

Or at least, where will Sony’s profit come from I wonder. If Sony cared about turning a profit they wouldn’t have made the PS3.
The real question is whether or not the investors will tolerate another colossal financial disaster like the PS3 was because from what I heard the stockholders were less than thrilled with the prospect of losing money on every sale, like lots of money.
