ParticipantIt’s not about saturating the bus so much as the controller itself. SATA controllers can easily be overwhelmed by conventional non-SSD drives, try copying some large files from 3 drives to 3 other drives simultaneously. You’ll notice that despite the rated speed, the copy operations slow to a crawl. The best bus for SSD is PCIe and it shows in the 2-5x performance increase, however the price is significantly higher. It shouldn’t be but hey that’s how these guys make their money.

ParticipantSSD in general. Any solid state drive that has to use the SATA interface is going to be bottlenecked.
MasterP
ParticipantThe rest looks fine. I don’t really like SSD but meh.

ParticipantFor $200 I think you could get more motherboard from Asus.

Its not the width that matters is lenght.
Actually, I’m pretty sure both matter

I’m using this atm. Have tripped on in twice and it’s still going. I’ve also dropped it but it was on carpet so that’s not really a good indicator. The construction looks and feels weak but it’s surprisingly strong.

ParticipantThere’s a reason plasma is getting cheap as dirt, LED LCD is where it’s at.
Try removing the AV receiver completely and plug directly into the TV. You shouldn’t have to reset anything on the PS3, but you should probably try to anyway. Tbh, if you have to reset the PS3 settings every time you change TVs that’s really another giant negative for the console.

ParticipantThe hammer bros have been my arch nemesis since 1990.
Btw, did you ever notice that the SMB cover art shows mario just about to die?
MasterP
ParticipantThe raping of those hammer bros was epic.

Don’t buy seperate.
Gaming headsets are designed for multiplayer gaming, which means it has a mic. Any “gaming” headset that doesn’t have a mic is just an overpriced, overly large ipod headset.
Even the most expensive standalone mics still sound terrible to your teammates because you’re typically over a foot from it. You normally can’t enable noise cancelling for fear of it silencing yourself which means that everything in the room is going to come through on voice comms and every little noise is going trigger the voice activation.

ParticipantIt’s really sad that they don’t teach this stuff in HS. I think most of the problems Americans have with spending and debt is because they don’t know how the system really works. It’s not specifically set up to screw people but absolutely will capitalize on those who can’t, don’t, or won’t take the time to learn about it.
How to get a credit rating of 750 or higher by graduation:
1) Get a CC after HS graduation
2) Use it every month but never go over the limit, never use it for cash withdrawls
3) Pay the bill off, in full, every month
4) Apply for credit increases every 6-12 months (depending on creditor rules)
5) NEVER let the CC company give you a hard inquiry for a credit increase, always verify they’re aren’t going to before agreeing to the credit increase (learned that one myself recently)
6) Pay off installment loans (car, college) quickly and on time
7) ???
8) Profit from a low or very low risk credit profile
Multiple CCs doesn’t always give a good first impression but if you’re regularly using more than one and paying them all off like you’re supposed to it’ll definately boost your score.
MasterP
ParticipantStore-branded cards are worth less on your credit score so having it maxed or high-balanced doesn’t hurt nearly as much.
MasterP
ParticipantJust applying for another card hurts your credit. For example, when I applied for a credit increase my bank used the same kind of check that a new CC would have had and the credit rating increase from the increased CC limit was entirely offset by the hard inquiry on my credit report. It takes 2 years for a hard inquiry to go away <_>
Using >10% of available credit is also a detriment, >30% is a pretty moderate hit to it. When I dropped my CC usage to
MasterP
ParticipantDefinately not helping your credit any, that’s for sure.

ParticipantThat would require an active PC VP or an appointed TF2 CL.
Now is the perfect time to populate servers. It’d be sweet if an exec that felix listened to would get him to take notice.

ParticipantI always laugh when I see people try to predict the future of gaming leagues. As CAL/CPL demonstrated, no one can predict when a gaming league will fall or how quickly one can fail.
This is an extremely fluid environment and even when you do everything right, things can still go horribly wrong. MLG seems to have a winning formula, but then again so did others that are no longer around.
Perfect example of how fast good times can become a nightmare are the recent events in EVE Online.

ParticipantYou could swap out the buttons for keys but you would need a specially designed board to convert the mouse input to something the xbox would understand. You can’t just hook a mouse into the joystick’s input and run with it.
If you knew what you were doing you could get the movement joystick to work with WASD but that’s about as far as you’re going to get without circuit design and programming experience.

However, i heard that microsoft might combine servers for pc and console players for certain games. Is this true…?Not likely.
Dustin said:
If so you have no idea how long I have waited to roll console gamers that play cod and some mlg players that think console>pc.And that’s why. Even if they did open it up, MLG and other XBL leagues would ban the use of PCs in their matches. Raven/Derrick has a keyboard/mouse adapter for his xbox and has been temp banned from xbl several times for using it. Everything I’ve read indicates that the rolling is epic in scale.
Dustin said:
Also I heard they downsized bf3 for consolers.Console versions will have 24 player servers, smaller maps, and reduced graphics. The PC version will have 64 player servers, huge maps, and graphics that even modern PCs will struggle with on the highest settings.

@Masterp, next lan I plan on rigging a 360controller to feel like wasd on a keyboard and change the analog controls to resemble a mouse. =]. Will I be able to use it at the lan?According to the last couple LANs, yeah you can. Better than that though would be to buy a real adapter. They run in the $100-200 range. PM me for which one Raven/Derrick swears by (and gets banned for using).

ParticipantI sent a payment the other day to a canadian using a checking acct. Idk how Dustin sent the money to me, it might have been checking/savings as well.
You might want to do like I do and keep a spare checking acct tied to your paypal, one that has drafting disabled.
