Participantlol?
Aside from what they used to originally knock me out I didn’t take any extra pain meds. Hurt like hell but definately not the worst I’ve ever had.
MasterP
ParticipantDude wtf? I got up and walked to the car after my wisdom teeth.
If I had waited 30 mins like this guy did I’d have been good to drive home.
MasterP
ParticipantI inb4’d that one in RL lol
Still though, I don’t think UNC has anything available in the cheap category. You would like some of the theory based engineering grad stuff at NCSU, it’s computers and heavily math oriented all rolled into one giant ball of wtf.
MasterP
ParticipantNCSU online grad classes are $861 each. That includes downloadable, DRM-free, full-length recordings of on-campus lectures. Nickname this has your name written all over it.

ParticipantSteam shows the server as 0(4)/32 and lists the bots in the player list. Steam knows the difference.
We might could install a mod to trick Steam but I’d be hesitant to screw with it. They’ve threatened to delist servers for crap like that before.

well all i have to say is if windows mobile is so great why did it see a 33% DROP in market share the past year?
By 33% you mean 5% right? In April 2009 they had 12% marketshare as opposed to the 7% they have now…
actually that is even worse, because a drop from 12% to 7% is a 41.7% drop in marketshare. you have taken math classes right?
That’s not typically how analysts look at it. If you go from “not alot” to “a little less than not alot” you realize that you really haven’t lost much. To say they lost 42% marketshare is deceptive at best when the high point of the study is 12%. Apple lost almost twice that amount back in Q1 2008 alone both of those pale in comparison to the hit Blackberry has taken in the last 2 years. Early 2008 they had 45%, now they have 19%.
Btw, that long hotdog looks terrible. Needs more vespene gas.

nevermind just did an IM convo with masterp and clearly he does not know the point of a smartphone.
Nickname is just upset that Windows Mobile has almost the same marketshare as Android and has apps he criticised it for not having.
If OS age, features, compatibility, interface, vulnerability, and general usefulness really matter to the average consumer Windows XP wouldn’t still have 63% marketshare. It’s all about perception, pricing, and advertising.

If I built a new computer I could still put Windows 2000 on it. Just because you’ve got an old OS doesn’t mean you can’t put it on new equipment.
yes, but why the hell would you want to?
Think of it this way then. If they had never released Vista and you had that long period in between XP and 7, would you have used XP or switched to Mac or Linux?

just want to point out (again) that windows mobile 6.5 is ancient and windows phone 7 is not yet released. Thus, you would not be buying a new phone with a windows OS. Android, iOS, webOS, even BBOS are all better options. When windows phone 7 comes out that may change, we will see.
If I built a new computer I could still put Windows 2000 on it. Just because you’ve got an old OS doesn’t mean you can’t put it on new equipment.
One thing MS is doing with WP7 that I wish they’d done from the start with Windows and WP is they’re being very specific about the hardware that the OS can be put on. LG and Motorola can’t just take a POS phone, toss WP7 on it, and sell it, it has to meet what sounds like a pretty demanding set of processor, ram, and memory requirements. If MS would have made HP, Dell, Lenovo, Sony, etc etc ship all their computers with 4GB of ram, a discrete video card, and at least a core2duo, Vista wouldn’t be one of the most hated OS’s of all time. You feed Vista enough ram and all the problems go away. Ok, well most of the problems, anyway.

also just because I didnt need steam and itunes back in 2002 doesn’t mean it is the way to do things in 2010. It’s pretty much inexcusable that you need a PC to load an app on a windows mobile phone. Got a mac? well then dont bother with a windows mobile phone. You can download and install them on the phone itself for

It still multitasks programs but will only do so on programs Microsoft has determined aren’t detrimental to be left running in the background. This is a serious problem with some 3rd party apps that are big memory hogs and don’t always exit when you close the window. Adobe is a big memory hog last I looked.
you can only multitask using 1st party apps. that means no streaming pandora in the background or saving your spot in your twitter app etc. like I said even apple is allowing this now. apple being more open than MS is just sad.
MS didn’t close the door on 3rd party multitasking, there’s just an approval process they have to go through. Btw, streaming music is an ideal way to drain your battery. I’m just sayin…

ParticipantGlobal use depends on the phone and your carrier. Most phones on ATT should work in Europe, as should any other GSM-based phone, but the usage rate without an international plan is really expensive. Blackberrys should work overseas but it’s always best to ask and be sure before spending money on one.
Only Verizon’s 4G phones will work overseas and definately ask before buying.
Btw, Verizon’s 4G network sounds to be pretty epic. SIM cards, longer reaching towers, and during initial testing they were seeing 50-100MBit/sec downstream speeds. GG

um you can sideload android apps. plus the online marketplace has tons of free apps. windows mobile doesnt even have a marketplace…
I googled for a while and everything I saw pointed back to something on the android market. Screenshot or it didn’t happen. <_>
You don’t have to have a central marketplace to have a device that’s useful and productive. How many years did you get by just fine without Steam and itunes?

and there is a reason that no new windows mobile phones have come out for the past 16 months. I mean it was good back when it was new and relevant but the current version out (6.5) is soooooooo far behind every other OS out there and 7.0 is a completely new monster, where you lose that ability to sideload apps that you were talking about, and also it lacks multitasking which even apple does now. Sorry but MS has some serious work to do in order to get back in the smartphone market.

This is a serious problem with some 3rd party apps that are big memory hogs and don’t always exit when you close the window. Adobe is a big memory hog last I looked. The marketplace might not be such a bad idea but it will really depend on how MS runs with it. From what I’ve seen it looks like you simply add an app and it automatically gets pushed to your phone, which is cool.
MS seems to be gearing WM7 more towards corporate use though which will make them money but could really hurt their regular consumer business.

windows mobile is not in the game right now. windows phone 7 will be coming out in a couple of months and its supposed to be pretty good (we will see); windows mobile 6.5 is garbage and irrelevant.
oh and idk about how good battery life is from htc but all smartphones have pretty *edited*ty battery life.
To my knowledge, Windows Mobile was the first phone OS that let you install any app you wanted without having to go through a central store or a carrier’s app service. Even with the Android, you still have to use their market service to get even the free applications.
You can’t tell me that being able to simply download any app, from any source, and install it without a nanny carrier service or app marketplace as a gatekeeper is a bad thing. It’s still the only TRUE freedom-oriented OS in the phone market, and that’s pretty bad coming from Microsoft and all.
And yes, all smartphones have terrible battery life. In fact the new HTC droids have some of the worse battery life for a “new” phone I’ve ever seen. It’s not really about multiple applications running at once, it’s partly because they have to make the phones more powerful to support the heavier and more feature filled OS’s. Most of the battery issues are because people sit on the internet, IM, or GPS features all day long and constant use of a data or wireless network will drain batteries on even the most basic phone OS’s.
Phone manufacturers need to put larger or higher density batteries in their phones and start funding future technologies like nuclear batteries because this problem is only going to get worse as time goes on.

if you use verizon, get the htc incredible or droid x or even the regular droid. if you u use sprint, get the htc evo. android is currently the 2nd best mobile OS (behind iOS) but it is improving very rapidly and actually is an open platform so your phone will only improve over time.
Windows Mobile is surprisingly good but they just don’t make a good phone that uses it.

Some of the science he tried to implement made some things a bit contradictory. It also bothered me they were so meticulous in forcing this idea of inception yet didn’t even spend the time to discuss how the machine they always used worked? Even with all the ambiguity, I felt the movie was a success, as long as you just accept the world of inception and not worry too much about the tiny little details.Universe continuity is a prerequisite for me to pay to watch a movie in theaters. Exceptions made for truely epic movies, of course.
