To be a member, you have to attend 2 LAN events and “half” the meetings in a 1 year period. Most of the WCUGA members should still be members here.
There was some vagueness to the process b/c of website updating issues and I apologized for that in my first post. If it would make things right between us I’m sure the execs would be more than willing to remove that restriction from Kazka but it wouldn’t really make a difference as one of the current VPs has the right to step up to the president position and fill his remaining term that lasts until spring 2011. If I’m not mistaken he’s graduating next spring so it would be inappropriate for him to run for the president position.
I believe it was Freezer who told me that the change of the member log, anyone who wasn’t at the ratification meeting was not a member of the club and could not run for any position the fall 2010 semester.
How about the members (including the “gray area” members who were not at the ratification meeting) (NOT including freshmen) vote on who they want to be president for the remainder of the year?

The only problems I forsee is if it appears that WCUGA members are coming to our election meeting solely to vote their own execs back in and “take over” the club so to speak. Now if this is genuinely what the members of both clubs want then there is no problem but from the tone we’re seeing with your facebook and forum posts the elections could very well already be decided before the meeting even starts and even you can admit that that’s not how things should be done. If 20 WCUGA members attend the meeting and all 20 of them vote for their own person for every position… it just reaks of staged voting.
Just to add, let the best member, from either club, be elected to the position. Tallgeese will likely step up to be president through spring 2011, he’s been with the club for a long time and is pretty well unbiased. Freezer is a good PC VP and is learning more and more about servers as time goes on. Kazka is a textbook definition of a console VP. Ephraim is a textbook secretary. etc etc.
Vote for who’s the best, not who their friends are or which club they’re in. If you can do that I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t be allowed to vote or be members here. The question though is can you be impartial with all this seething hatred. We’re willing to believe that you can but you guys have the be the ones to take that first step.

That could be, idk. I do know they’ll be a lot more willing to make an exemption for that if it appears as though you aren’t going to intentionally stack all the voting.
The president issue is probably not going to change. It would be like holding an election to replace an impeached president in RL. Also, the president’s term is from spring to spring because of the important early year recruitment that occurs during the first few weeks of the fall semester. If the president graduated you wouldn’t have anyone to direct the club leadership over the summer or during the first part of the fall until a new president is elected the 2nd or 3rd week of classes. This also allows freshment to vote on who their president is and if the election was in the fall they would have no say in the matter for a whole year.

ParticipantTallgeese seemed a bit reluctant to take console VP, so I’m not sure he’d go for Pres. But let’s just say he has a more positive public opinion about him in the WCUGA than Freezer.
Can a current executive confirm or deny the voting and membership rights of the “gray area” members that I have been talking about?
July 15, 2010 at 3:28 pm #103159MasterP
ParticipantFreezer does not want the position and may not even run for PC VP. He probably won’t appreciate me telling you but there it is. If anyone takes the President position it will be tallgeese.

ParticipantI mean we have never verified eligibility to vote or anything as far as I know; pretty much if you show up to the meeting you can vote. IIRC, the purpose of defining what classifies a member was purely to satisfy SGA. So I would say anyone that comes to the meeting can vote, unless something drastic has changed in that regard.
July 15, 2010 at 3:31 pm #103162melatonin
ParticipantAlright, I have to leave here shortly, but I really need to know about the membership status of the people who did not attend the ratification meeting.
July 15, 2010 at 3:32 pm #103164Ephraim
ParticipantIt would be nice to have more than one WCUGA rep in this thread.
July 15, 2010 at 3:32 pm #103165melatonin
ParticipantWell, not just voting, but being eligible to run for positions as well.

ParticipantLook, like Ive said, Im not talking on these forums. I would prefer to do this in person. Ill lay out what we want out of this and see what happens (and by we I mean everyone that left). Until then, wait until the start of school and like I said, Ill talk to Freezer and Geese about what we needs hammering out on this issue. Thanks.
July 15, 2010 at 5:24 pm #103176melatonin
ParticipantQuestion: If Freezer doesn’t want it and Tallgeese does, why hasn’t Tallgeese already been promoted? This would be a lot easier if we could talk directly to the main authority in the club.
July 15, 2010 at 5:38 pm #103181MasterP
ParticipantGood question and point.
We’ll hammer the details out on this tonight.
You can probably go ahead and be talking with Tallgeese about stuff like this. It’s like a president that’s on his deathbed, the deals are still getting done just not by the guy at the very top.

We gave you the opportunity to state your case and negotiate with us, yet you refuse to do so until just before the first meeting. What the hell, man?
July 15, 2010 at 6:25 pm #103183Bitey
ParticipantIt seems clear that some people refuse to see reason, all of the comments in this thread by alumni and students alike have been level-headed and fair. Even apologies from MasterP… I think pigs are flying in Kansas right now.. (<3)
It’s like we have all pretty much said from the beginning after we got over the initial shock of finding out you wanted to create a new club. We want this to work, I don’t want any power at all as an alumni, but I also don’t want to be ignored, just like when I and any president before me ran the club we wanted the students to have the say in what happened with the club. Everything I did was voted on in public meetings, when I needed help I asked Adam and he delivered, I mean it just made sense to me…
Also Kazka, you were an awesome console VP.
If you want to meet with the two VPs before the meeting that is fine, but you should do so not right before the meeting perhaps an hour or so before, or maybe even earlier in the day. Don’t come 5 minutes before the meeting to talk to the VPs who will most likely have enough stuff on their mind, what do you expect to get done in 5 minutes? Schedule a meeting with both of them way before hand and get your questions answered then and there.
Sometimes in business, friendship can be a bad thing…
“nothing you can do…unless you want to kill youself”
Right now you have a nice piece of steak, solid in some places, but unfortunately primarily made up of fat.
It looks like to me that it’s time to trim the fat.
July 15, 2010 at 7:44 pm #103188Lemm
ParticipantThe “kill yourself” part was a bit much.
Kaz had a perfect chance of getting Console VP back… and in my opinion he still does. I don’t know what reason it came down to for why he got the ax as President, but I do know that he definitely could have gotten the new box a lot sooner, but instead he decided to give the alumni flack and keep them from helping….
Now I’m not a political expert, but if you want to be President of a Club, you really need to think of the whole club and not just the part you’re most interested in.
I’ll also go on to say that you don’t need to President to be a valuable part of the club.

ParticipantWell, that was my attempt at negotiating. Switching to battle mode.

ParticipantAnother inquiry: what are ALL the private forums on this site and who has access to them?
July 15, 2010 at 8:28 pm #103197MasterP
ParticipantWhy do you ask?
There are several that none of your sources would have access to, if that’s what you’re asking.
July 15, 2010 at 8:39 pm #103199Nickname
Participanthell there are ones i dont even have access to

ParticipantI kinda thought it was assumed that all forums had a private administrative section. I’m surprised WCUGA doesn’t have one.
July 15, 2010 at 9:33 pm #103208Fascist Flakes (Jagr)
ParticipantHonestly I haven’t spoken to or asked but I can say that there is nothing to hide. For our private forums there are:
Executive – information containing contact info (phone numbers, etc) for previous execs, current execs, etc. There is also information as to how to set up the lan, how to contact sponsors, current sponsor list including their contact info, information detailing how to log in and use the administration for the website, etc.
Private Club Discussion – this forum is comprised of the alumni who were previous execs, current execs, students that were previous execs, and as well as founders. This forum just is a place where anyone who has had their part in this club can contact current execs without having to do so publicly. Information shared is the previous history and experiences that we have had as well as the information and advice that we could give.
Game Server Administration – This is a subforum group that is for our admins to communicate amongst each other.
-Game Server Admin Discussion – Self explanatory, it is a forum for the admins to contact each other. They ask the other admins about things, they bring up problems for the CL’s, etc. Anything that relates to the servers and things that need to be administrated is located here.
Sub-forums under this are:
-The server information forum – includes all of the information pertaining to our servers, including command list for our admin program that was written by our members.
-Away Forum – admins post here if they will be away for a long period of time, 2+ weeks, so they aren’t considered to be inactive and thus revoked of their admin.
That is all of our private forums.

I know it doesn’t matter much what I think, but I do think certain alumns, like Adam, Ashley and other founders have every right to see over anything they should want to in regards to this club. They did after all make it possible for BOTH clubs to exist, because after all, if this club didn’t exist, than people wouldn’t have qq’d there way to another. Just saying.

there is also a private forum under exec forums that has stuff like server login info, software keys etc. Only root admins can see this.

And no, our server RCONs and SQL root password are not things that should be in the open.
You are, however, more than welcome to post your login passwords in the open on your board.

ParticipantFlakes also overlooked the deleted posts forum, however irrelevant that is.
I’ve been busy with home improvement lately, and haven’t been able to talk much because of that.
Also, is Brenton still open for discussion or has Tallgeese taken authority?

ParticipantSo… wtf have i done to *edited* off the “WCUGA” people.. Sean or Mike if you could inform me i would greatly appreciate it. I think thats funny seeing that ive been nothing but friendly and respectful to any of your members that have treated me in kind. actually seeing that many of your members are HvZ players and Avalon Players im actually pretty good friends with many of “your people.” and as far as trash talking or plotting.. i really haven’t had time even if i wanted to. ive been working 30-40 hour weeks standing the whole time and occasionally being my geeky self in the woods at Avalon.
July 26, 2010 at 2:53 am #103576MasterP
ParticipantThey blame me and you for everything. And by everything I mean literally everything, even stuff we can prove we had nothing to do with. Apparently we sat down and plotted this whole thing out. You and me, you know, the guy working 40 hours a week with another 20 hours of unlogged overtime and the other a full time student, frat member, club VP, and part time student worker. We had SO much time to plot this stuff, so much so that I really don’t get your attempts at denying it.
Just accept that they hate you and move on. Pay it no mind. I did that a long time ago and don’t regret it for a second. Those who care about the truth will seek it themselves and find that we aren’t as evil as the WCUGA leadership claims we are. Those who aren’t willing to seek out the truth themselves aren’t worth the waste of the electrical impulse required to think about, let alone care about. In the grand scheme of things, their opinions are meaningless, as are their wishes, desires, and demands. They mean nothing because they are entirely self-centered and once denied or fulfilled will create no lasting memory. They become a small tree in a forest of giants, overshadowed and concealed by those who give their all for the betterment and greater good of the club, rather than the achievement of personal ambitions.
The club isn’t here to meet your personal needs or fulfill personal agendas, unless that need or agenda is to have fun, play video games, and make new friends.
