ParticipantMeh, it’s his job to take them but since it’s your job to do the marketing it never hurts to follow through and make sure it gets done. Since you’re the only exec that seems to regularly check here could you please pass the request on?
Tbh, a really active marketing admin can wield alot more power than was originally intended under the guise of marketing the club, so much so that they could probably rival a VP’s power if they played their cards right. The only reason the position hasn’t ever been abused is because we’ve never had one that truely cared about the job

On a side note someone removed me and my position on the group.
You can’t seriously tell me you didn’t see that one coming
As far as your preference in marketing, Facebook is more popular to the people running the club but a quick numbers check will bring the reality of the situation back to heart. You have 167 members in your facebook group and maybe 120 posts, that’s only 167 people that can be notified of LAN events and a very small amount of activity for 6 years of operation. The forums have 1,290 members and 106,000 posts. One of those is impressive to a sponsor, the other is not.
It’s been a while since we had a marketing admin that cared, could you please try to get as many of the pictures from the last few LANs as possible for upload here? It’d be nice to add them to the ones we already have so that we have a nice continuity of as many past events as possible. That’s something else sponsors love to see.
Btw, I just noticed that in one of the pics from the Dec 2010 event Liquid is using a WCU owned monitor that still has one of the new asset tags. These tags are required to be removed when an item is purchased at a surplus sale. Please tell me this wasn’t stolen…
MasterP
ParticipantThat’s a touchy subject. No one seems to have pictures for the last 3 events.

ParticipantI’ve never placed an order from Tiger and had every item arrive as described or pictured. When you call them about items missing features or varying wildly from what’s pictured they either give you the middle finger or offer a refund (minus restocking fee) if you pay to ship it back. Typically, neither are acceptable when they just bait and switched me a “lite” version of a motherboard, a video card with passive cooling, or a “new” liquid cooling attachment with the wear, tear, and already cut open packaging of a returned item.
I’ll order PC parts from anyone, I mean I didn’t even hesitate when ordering $1200 from zipzoomfly which my CC company even called to confirm, but I will *NEVER* order from Tiger again. That says something. First mistake, hey it happens. Second, maybe it’s just bad luck. Third, I start getting suspicious. After the fouth, I’m done. I’d rather buy locally, I’ll pay more but at least I know what I’m getting <_>
MasterP
ParticipantMake sure your motherboard and video drivers are up-to-date.

-the 20 gauge is good if you find yourself in a bind, but you have to remember it is LOUD; and the sound will likely draw more zombies to you.
you should use these as initial weapons only until you can replace them with something better. A machete would be a good hand combat weapon, or perhaps an axe. For range, realistically a bow and arrow or silences sniper rifle would be best, but chances of finding such are slim, so better to just keep the 20 gauge until you happen upon a quieter solution, whatever that may be, unless you do manage to get on a boat or someplace else where firing a weapon would not draw zombie attention.
On that note, shotgun silencers are around $900. If you’re really interested in preparing, that would be the way to go. The don’t entirely silence it but it’s quiet enough that you don’t need hearing protection when firing indoors which should be silent enough to use outdoors with confidence in a zombie killing spree.
Supressors for other guns typically run $500-1200, depending on the caliber and amount of suppression.

ParticipantI have yet to meet a PSP owner who is still a happy and content owner after a year of ownership. I’m as happy with my DS now as I was when I bought it a few years ago and besides a gripe about the lack of WPA2 on its wifi I really couldn’t complain a whole lot about it, especially not when compared to the PSP’s 802.11b wifi (wtf?).
Now if it weren’t for flashcarts I wouldn’t even own one but I’d rather use a flashcart than have to softmod it. With Sony’s recent actions to curb legal homebrewing, I can’t imagine why anyone would ever want to softmod their PSP.
It seems like Sony is edging towards the same mistake that Sega made with the Gamegear. Yeah it’s way cooler than the Nintendo equivalent but you can only play for like two hours before the *edited* thing dies. When we went to NCUR, I took my NDS and Nickname took his PSP. As I remember, I was still playing my DS long after his PSP had died. If the PSP2 has a quadcore, that comparison will only get worse.

With the 3DS being out I’m not sure why anyone would still buy one but alot of the anti-homebrew and anti-piracy technology in the DSi was reused in the 3DS so I’d expect a flashcard to come out for it in the next year or so.
The DSi does have a CPU that’s twice as fast as the DS so if nothing else it’d be a good emulator platform.
MasterP
ParticipantSame, but then I remembered that the last time I played 1/3 of my shots didn’t register so instead of opening CSS I went with BFBC2 instead.
MasterP
ParticipantI would pay money to play in a server with that guy.

ParticipantI don’t hate it, I’m just disappointed that it SEEMS like yet another series with balls has been exploited for a quick buck the way so many others have. I hope it’s great but I’ve been so disappointed with FPS games the last few years that it would take a miracle for me to pre-order anything at this point.

I’M STILL EXCITED – mebbe there won’t be as many pre-pubescents playing as on CoD (crosses fingers)

That’s the ONLY reason I didn’t buy an XBOX360 on release day. XBL is 99.999%

ParticipantThat’s a LONG story.

ParticipantThe problem with wii shooters was never the accuracy on the screen. You cannot have a fast-paced, high intensity shooter using that type of controller. Regardless of how much better the move is, it will still have to contend with the same problems that made the wii shooters slow, dull, and frustratingly painful to play. If they haven’t even acknowledged that these problems existed then you can’t expect that they’ve fixed them.
I think it’s funny that not a single review mentions that it’s in 720p. They all praise it for what you’ve come to expect from the PS3, but if reviewers can’t tell the difference between 1080p and 720p then it’s time to find a new set that haven’t lost their objectivity. Yeah I know the PS3 upconverts really well but if reviewers, whose job it is to compare video games, can’t tell the difference between the two resolutions then who’s to say that Sony won’t start pushing 720p as a standard rather than the exception. If reviewers can’t tell the difference you know *edited* well consumers can’t either.
It’s interesting to see that virtually every review states that the single player is bad. Some cover it up as “offset by the excellent multiplayer” but one review goes so far as to classify KZ3 as yet another CoD clone. Apparently the developers spent most of their time making the multiplayer and cinematics and skimped out on the SP goodness that set KZ apart from the other mindless clones. If this turns out to be the case then the gaming world will have lost yet another good series to the fast development, cheap profit cloning machine.
I hope the 3D is good, because that’s where a large chunk of that 45GB went.
MasterP
ParticipantConsidering their recent moves against unauthorized use of the PS3 console itself, I find it hard to believe they’d approve of using accessories in this fashion. I would almost think they’d pull an Apple and imbed a virus in their product or something.

ParticipantGun attachment? I guess they didn’t play any of the gun games on the wii…

Well, for one, many people in the club (even some alumni) feel that the situation around Kaz’s removal was unconstitutional. And if I recall correctly, the points you brought up were voted in near (if not completely) unanimously.
Nice dodge.
If the US Congress voted unanimously to ban the ownership of firearms, would that make the vote any less unconstitutional? The number of votes doesn’t change the unconstitutionality of what you’re doing.

You know I hate to be the one to point this out but wasn’t Kazka removed from office in March 2010? Wouldn’t that be less than a year and still make him ineligible? Also, all constitution changes must be approved by the staff advisor before being ratified. Was this done?

Man, wouldn’t it suck to have your $600 launch-day console banned because you re-enabled functionality that the console shipped with. Were it me, I would be wishing I had spent that money on some other console…

If you’ll notice there’s a trend in console shooters lately where they always have a vehicle level, and it’s always terrible.I cried a little when I saw that in the trailer. It means this is going to be just another boring console shooter clone like everything else the last 2 years.
PC gamers would do well to avoid pre-ordering this until after a demo is released. If no demo is released you can consider the game a marketing ploy, go back to playing L4D2, BFBC2, or whatever and just pretend it was never released at all.
