If you want to max it out we can add a 100 tic Zombie and a 100 tic gungame. Add that to what we’ve already got and when the TF2 and 3 CSS get close to full it would max out a dual quadcore system.

    Probably should have explained.

Deathrun is a brand new mod and uses custom maps where 2-3 players have control over a set of traps that the other players try to get through. I added it as an option because TAG added two 18 slot servers a few months ago and they’re full almost 24/7.

As I said, ALL server types will be using KNOWN GOOD configs from populated servers. If gungame wins it won’t flop like last time.

Keep in mind that Zombie is on the downhill slope in popularity so I can’t guarantee it’ll stay populated as the community as a whole is moving on.

Why isn’t my approval of a map enough? The only problem that I have found with the map is the echoing, and you can’t really call that a problem it is more of a nuisance if that. Haven’t seen you around lately on the source server and I have had a lot of extra time since I don’t have a job anymore till I get back up to Western, not pointing any fingers I am just saying that is probably why you missed out on testing the map, it has been played several days now, every time I get on somebody asks to go to this map.

I haven’t been on much because I still have a job. I specifically stated that once I got into my summer job I wouldn’t be on as much.

As to the map, I have a set of standards for maps and having problems that carry over into the rest of the cycle should automatically disqualify a map from normal gameplay. Having bad maps in a rotation won’t make YOU look like you’ve done a bad job as a club exec, it makes ME look bad.

Liam has fixed the echo with a server side command and I’ve approved it for a 10 minute slot in the rotation.

I really don’t mind barricading by Ts. If you have a nade you can clear them out REALLY easy and potentially trap the guards inside. Using chairs to block the door is more of a nuisance IMO.

Then I’ll toss up a vote.

Back on topic: If you can find a solution or remote client command to run at the beginning of the next map I’ll be more than happy to toss it in the rotation. Otherwise I can’t let a map with known problems go into the rotation. As I said earlier, that’s a bridge I just don’t want to cross.

Since the map is popular I’ll leave it on the server and let admins vote it in as a funmap so long as they tell people how to fix any problems that arise.

As for the second server, if we take one of the TF2 servers down theres no reason we can’t run another CS:S server as long as we keep it at 24 players and 66 tic.

If/when this happens I’ll throw up a vote for 2nd server type. Considering neither TF2 stays full on it’s own and both can be populated fairly easily we don’t need both but that’s discussion for another thread.

Shooting down an obviously popular map that you haven’t played based on comments from people that vary as widely as these is not really the best course of action.

Researching the issue and looking for a possible fix would be more beneficial in the long run and would give us another avenue to expand our rotation out and make the server even more popular than it is now.

Considering the map was added and played without the CL’s knowledge or appoval I would say I’ve been more than open about the whole deal. I don’t want maps on the server that cause problems with our players. It shouldn’t matter if they are considered big or small, they are still problems that shouldn’t be in the final release of a map.

How is preventing future complaints in any way a problem?

This is just a precedent I don’t want to set. Find the solution and you can keep the map.

As it stands we could really do with adding a second CSS server and putting a redirector in place like TF2 has.

Based on my MSN chat with you a few weeks ago I was under the impression we didn’t have enough server capacity for a 2nd server. I will not split a 28 slot into two 16 or 18 slots, not when the 28 comes close to capacity on a regular basis and I don’t want to falsely advertise the server as being full or send people where they don’t want to go.

Now if I can have a 2nd 18-24 slot server let me know and I’ll be more than happy to get you a config.

Steam removed a good portion of the remote client commands so it’s doubtful but if it’s something that requires a manual correction after playing the map go ahead and remove it from the rotation. No matter how awesome the map it’s not worth it.

Well luckily for AMD, ATI is starting to turn out some decently competitive products (have you read anything on the new ATI IGP? it bests lowend discrete nvidia cards!). The problem AMD has is this whole Phenom thing… and they have so much invested in it there is really no way out. Plus ATI getting behind the ball with their last couple of generations of cards means it will take quite some time before they start making money again. I honestly don’t know how they can survive.

Yes I know all about ATI’s low-end cards.

As to the whole surviving thing, Intel is being forced to bail them out by means of the myriad of lawsuits. According to normal business law they should be an acquisition target but neither the US or EU court system will let that happen.

And even I have to admit they’ve gotten better but when AMD bought them I think they took a turn for the terrible. A company merged like that can’t succeed in 2 major markets and are now starting to fail in both, IMO.

Hate to rain on everyone’s parade but I’m not going to add a custom map with Beta in it’s name to a full time slot in the rotation until it’s been tested for several weeks and is proven to not empty the server. I am willing to give it the old Deaglezknives slot at 10 minutes for testing and if it does well I’ll slowly increase it’s time to what the rest have.

If it causes problems that force you to restart CSS it’s going to disappear from the maplist fast.

You can’t activate it on Steam as the copy you have isn’t designed to run on/with Steam.

Activision USED to let you buy replacements disc (like 10 years ago) but I’m not sure what their policy is now.

This pretty much sums it up I think

Coming from a website that uses Leadtek and Zotac made Nvidia cards in their reviews, yeah ok, that’s reliable.

These are presumably not all of the incidents of this kind that took place in 2007, only the ones where the users submitted the information to Microsoft.

How many HONESTLY click the submit button? Come on, be honest!

Also, that statistic came from a Microsoft lawsuit against other companies that stiffled the Vista launch. I doubt they are going to release data that makes themselves look bad.

your ATI card was FIVE gernerations old. I even admit that ATI drivers used to be terrible (I had a desktop X850XT). But the lol question is why didn’t you just roll back to the old driver?

My card was BRAND NEW when I bought it and it was only 1 generation old when I had problems with it. Even now it’s only 4 generations old, wtf you talking about?

And for the record, I hadn’t updated it when it broke and was still using the stock factory drivers that had been working for over a year. It not working is why I updated the drivers to the newest ATI release and it didn’t work either.

The last ATI card I owned had absolutely terrible driver support. I had to quit playing CSS for almost 6 months because my drivers crashed Steam.exe. How I couldn’t begin to explain but when I went to Omegadrivers the problem went away.

The frequency of driver released shouldn’t be any measure of greatness as a good driver doesn’t need updating. In the past, the more frequent the updates the more problems it had. Rare exceptions are for new features but at this point there isn’t much they can give you that you don’t already have, feature wise.
