ParticipantSource will probably be played sometime after dinner which is gonna be pizza at 7:00 pm, any idea for maps? Contra is a definite. I think we are gonna have a bit more then the 30-40 last time, who knows. Are we gonna do bracketed elimination? 15 players, then 10 next round, 5 next round, final 2 duel? Also is Freeman coming up for the LAN? Should be enough space in my room, or you might be able to crash at someone else’s.

ParticipantI haven’t heard and we will probably only have time for 3 or 4 maps. So far I think gxti is leaning towards Contra, Inferno, and let the final two agree on a map.
Personally I think Contra is a bad idea for this LAN. A lot of people have never played it and this gives them a disadvantage from the very start of the tournament.

ParticipantWe did Inferno last LAN and Contra isn’t a well-known map. I say boo to both.

ParticipantMill and Tides then. Mill is a very well balanced map, even with a large amount of people and Tides is a great map to play with two teams of 5.
What I think should happen though, possibly only for the round of 10, is to have the two teams switch sides to eliminate the possibility of a map being too one-sided, etc.

ParticipantThen you start cutting into time restraints.

ParticipantIt takes 30 seconds for people to change sides
. Two halves of say 8 rounds each wouldn’t take long at all.March 25, 2007 at 5:29 pm #18689Phonetically Phamous (dice
Participantboo.. deffently dont play maps most people havent played.

ParticipantThat’s no excuse not to play one of the better maps for source… I’ll try to announce the rotation way ahead of time so people have time to practice.

ParticipantYes, id agree with playing a custom/non populer official map if i was given pratice time of a week or 2…
so it wouldent be like me picking 4 maps for gg that people ahve never played.. so i could win the event (”,)

ParticipantLet’s have 4 then, 20 or 30 minutes each (rounds are too difficult to predict time-wise). de_contra, de_inferno, de_tides, and whatever the finalists want. Perhaps run the final by rounds instead of time.

Perhaps run the final by rounds instead of time. That’s what me and Saint did, 10 rounds. I liked it that way (despite losing BAH).
