I think it’s really sad that 1.6 players talk so much junk about Source and the people who play Source and then none of the almighty 1.6 players care enough to help save our server. The Source players have donated over 800 bucks and the 1.6 players haven’t given the club one red cent toward keeping their server.

OUCH, called out by El Presidente, as I consider myself one of the staunchest anti-sauce admins on WCU. Just made a donation ;) .

    OR

ripped from a post at http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic33807.html

Go to http://www.fraps.com and use FRAPS. With Fraps running, just hit F10 to have screenshots captured to the C:\Fraps folder.

Windows Media Player, WinDVD and other such programs use “Overlay” video, which isn’t a normal part of the windows display. In order to capture the “Overlay” video, you need a special capture tool- which FRAPS indeed does.

Turning off hardware acceleration will also work since this disables the Overlay and uses standard windows GUI/2D display routines. This also slows the video down to a crawl and wont allow any of the deinterlacing or image enhancement features your videocard normally has in its Overlay mode.

i had an overheating problem a few months back. turned out my fan had busted when i dropped my laptop. dell inspiron 600m is notorious for overheating anyway, tho. It only happened sometimes, but my fps would drop to like 4, whole comp would be unusable. I didn’t get the PCI errors you’re describing tho, just relating my experience.

i cannot sell you mine. it is integrated. how bad is that? ati mobility radeon 9000 soldered onto the lappy motherboard. but yet, i get 100 fps in 1.6 because 1.6 is fun for all!

41? i’ve seen 60+ in 1.6 and since source takes about 1/3 as much skill i’d expect 180 per map over there. seriously though, with map time of 25 min, 41 doesn’t seem unrealistic.

You should auto set people’s rates (on connection) when they get in so they can’t mess with them and have 50 ping and look unbelievably choppy so nobody can hit them.

can this be done in 1.6? I know it’s built into source but I haven’t heard of it being done w/ 1.6.

Blah. College connections are great. Their firewalls suck. I’ll keep my cable every day.

no firewalls here. IT openly says on their site that they don’t monitor traffic, block ports, block any p2p programs/protocols, or impose any restrictions whatsoever on download bandwidth. Only restriction we have is 5 GB upload limit per day, that’s all :). Means you can’t go crazy with the torrents on private trackers, but I don’t have much to complain about B).

We have an auto kicker for ping, i believe it is set at 200. As many will tell you, it takes a long time (~4-5 rounds) before it actually kicks someone.

Many admins do kick players for high ping on a regular basis, due to the dysfunctional nature of the auto kicker. I will usually kick a player who CONSISTENTLY has a ping of greater than 150, and only when the server is noticeably lagging at the time. Otherwise, I just let the autokicker (try to) do its job.

P.S. All this assumes you are talking about CS 1.6. I’m not sure if the source server has an autokicker.
